cudaken Dave, thank you for your concern and I hate to say it but I do mean it. Most of the time I hate how my life has end up. Like Ulrich at one point in my life had the world by the tail! Worked for the same company for 18 years, was in charge of 8 states, had my own secretary and a Lincoln Town Car as my company car. No worries about making the bills and had money for toys. But the owner died, board brought in idiots from the out side to run the company and they did run it! Straight in too the ground! I all so seem to have a knack of getting jobs with POS companies, like this one! Heck, I did not even apply, they called me! So do I think I have severe depression, I am sure I do! Am I thinking of OFFING my self, just every once in a while. But I am still a tough old bird and still have a little fight left in me! What does not kill you will make you stronger!

Ken, I am glad you said the last line. "what doesn't kill you iwll make you stronger".
Ken, Just when you think your life is really really bad, you will meet someone who's life is even worse. I once had the world by the tail {for me anyway}, but I have also been as low as homeless sleeping on other's couches, surviving on food from dumpsters and donated food pantries, living out of a duffle bag and collecting cans/bottles for the nickel each on the sides of the road in the dead of winter with no coat to get to DSS in the city to get food stamps and welfare!!
I often did not get any help from my parents/family, i was not {and still am not} the "favored" child. My parents recently said "well I GUESS we COULD have helped you out". Meanwhile half the "family fortune" has been given to my sibling.
I have also attempted suicide 4 times, been hospitalized 29 times for suicide/bipolar/depression and severe alcohol abuse {due to winter depression}, at times up to 46 consecutive days. And I have my fair share of other health problems as well.
I am not happy with where my life is now, and MOH has had to deal with some of it in the past 12 years, but I can at least say, with medication and being sober for many years, I am at least "STABLE" {?}.
So chin up old fellow!
It could be worse!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Well the FP7 is fixed. I test ran it first on DC to see if all was well. Naturally it wasn't. The front wheelset of the front truck kept derailing on the curves no matter if they were left or right. I checked the gauge of the wheels. It was fine. So then I put my glasses on and gave it a real close look. I could barely see it. The pickup shoe of the right front wheel was riding on top of the wheel. Using a flat tip screwdriver with a 1mm wide tip I pushed the pickup shoe up, back and down behind the wheel where it belonged. I repeated the test run and this time it was perfect. So then I hard wired in a Digitrax DH123 decoder then programmed it on the program track. A test run on DCC went off perfect. I installed a pair of Kadee #148 Whisker couplers and called the project done for now. It needs a few little parts but they're purely cosmetic.Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, a cup of hot decaf would be great at the moment!
Ahhhh... Long day. Meeting went well and everything appears to be coming together for the 50th. class reunion this summer. I came home plugged in the PIP to get a few miles of electric and had supper. Then drove to Rochester for the monthly Museum meeting and program. For some reason tonight as we had our program I kept thinking how much our business meetings resemble the Possum Lodge Meetings on the Red Green Show.... We had a great slide show on several local railroads from back in the 70's... Some great shots and interesting details.
Cleaned out my in box for my email earlier today and found some I was supposed to respond to several weeks ago... Opps! I have sent out a few, Mea Culpa messages tonight. just aren't enough hours in the day I guess, especially if some of them are spent sitting here staring at the computer.
Guess I'll go plug in the car and then head out to bed.
Prayers for all in need of them!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Hey y'all, just stopping in before bed. Been pretty busy with w**k and a few things around the house. Haven't been able to catch up with anyone on here in quite some time, so if you've been asking of me, things have been good, just busy (as most family life is around now). Things will slow down in another month or so, so that'll be good. Had an interesting day today as it seemed to be tune-up day. With the exception of two vehicles that came into the shop, EVERYTHING wanted a tune-up done on it. I think I've put in enough spark plugs on vehicles to sink a battleship today.... (not that I'm complaining, I LIKE doing tune-ups!).
Tonight was pan-seared Talapia with mashed cauliflower and rice pilaf. Washed that down with two glasses of sweet tea and a big bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (I know, I know, a little gluttonous of me, but it WAS good). Tomorrow is supposed to be a rainy day, but its ok, the garden needs it (got strawberries, potatoes, onions and a few other odds and ends planted earlier in the week). I've also been collecting eggs from our chickens (we have 6 hens), which has been good. Heather (the 6 year old) especially likes to go out on Saturday mornings and collect the eggs as soon as the hens start to cackle.
Welp, enough rambling for me, I need to head off to bed as 0530 comes far, far too soon.
Later taters!
Just a quick hello again!
I am in about the roughest time of my life. I just hoipe and pray it´ll end soon and I will have my parents successfully moved into the nursing home. When that will be done, I will be able to tell you more about what I am going through right now. Think of the worst you can imagine and double it - that´s about it.
Blessings!
Good Morning! from Tipton IN.

TIPTON
Bill Tidler Jr.
Near a cornfield in Indiana...
4 a.m. wakeup call. House full of smoke. Wife woke up 1st to pee, thought she would put more logs in the woodstove. Stove started smoking profusely from the seams and the seams of the fluepipe , so she got me. Dumped the ash pan 1st, no help. Propped open the basement door, smoking stopped, cold came in. Lowered the glass in the storm door about 6 inches, then closed the door. Happy medium achieved! Smoke dissipating , not too cold inside. Went out with a Halogen flashlight, the top of the chimney is shrouded in smoke, cant see much but I'll bet the screen around the cap is clogged up. Looks like I'll be on the roof at 1st light. Now I'm awake, so plans now change. Wife now back in bed, I'll keep an eye on stuff til she gets up and it's light out. Then after this gets resolved, I'll drop some packages at the post office, then go back to bed for a bit!
Jeffrey, Looks like the boss cracked the whip on the sundown shops, got that unit out right away!!
Ulrich, I can't imagine, for you.
Be back later!
Karl
NCE über alles!
Hopefully you get that cleared up Karl, a chimney fire can be real dangerous. Would there be a buildup of creosote?
Just about to jump in the shower and try to eat something ( never really hungry in the morning at first ) then off to work. Be back later this afternoon guys,
{sorry Karl}
Kona Coffee in the diner...
ALOHA!!!GOOD MORNING!!!
Today is Friday February 22, 2013!!!
Have a GREAT DAY!
Good morning. Shoulders STILL hurt from Wensday.
Other than work, nothing much going on this evening. Will likely work on the 2020 more or get something for the layout done.

Ok, down off the roof now!
Flo, how about 2 of those chocolate cake donuts with the chocolate frosting, and a cup of Kona in a Maryland Midland mug.
The woodstove is back to normal now, just the screen at the top was clogged, again! I told the guy who installed it the mesh looked too fine (1/4") and sure enough, it clogged. 2nd year its done that,,, but I'm just a dumb homeowner, not a professional. What do I know, right? We only need the screen on there to keep critters out during the summer. Why can't it be bigger, ya know, like the neighbors?
Got stuff to do, just all discombobulated from getting up at 4:30, especially since I went to bed at 12.
It gotta get better, right?
Good Morning All!
Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then we received some freezing rain or sleet during the night and its pretty slick outside so,I threw another log on the fire and will stay inside since I can't think of a single reason to leave the comfort of the hearth..
Slate Creek news..Not much going on other then I'm finishing up some projects..I need to go to the hobby shop in Mansfield and pick up some ABS tubing for a pipe load.
I shall have a cup and look over da forum.
Have a good'un!

Was nice to have the wood stove cleaned and pumping out heat all night.

Good Morning!!!
Just coffee this morning please, I’ll be heading out to the Huddle House in a bit. Maybe. Either that or heat up some red beans and rice leftover from last night.
A chance of snow and freezing drizzle before 9am, then a chance of drizzle and snow between 9am and noon. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Currently 33.
Jeff- Sounds like your life in some respects, is very similar to mine. Any plans to do something for myself, are thwarted by the inevitable phone call requesting me do something else. I can sit around all day doing nothing, which is rare, and the phone will stay quiet. But, let me decide to use my free time to play and...rrrring!!! It’s like they are psychic. They know. “oh, he has plans, let’s call him to …..(insert request )”.
Ken- Oddly enough around here they are treating this light blanket as a major sn*w dumping too. Schools closed, various day care centers closed, and no, there is no real ice threat either. Just on the cars and of course the trees, but not really much on the trees. Strange.
Welp, it sn*wed last night, then turned to sleet. Only about 3” here so no snow blower used as it will be gone, or most by tomorrow, Sunday for sure. In fact it's already starting to melt away. Neighbor shoveled his drive late last night, bout ten, and this morning it looked like it had just dusted snow on his drive. now I looked out and it looks like it had only rained on it. I did shovel a path to Brenda’s car for her and scraped the ½” ice of the windows, but it already was unattached to the car so was pretty easy.
Don’t know what I’ll do today before w**k, I suppose I’ll try to put down some plaster cloth. I have trouble making the edge look like the edge of a cliff look like the real thing instead of the edge of a piece of wood. Maybe also try to make a concrete tunnel portal look like concrete rather than something painted with aged concrete color. Each is a daunting task for me. I mightt shovel a bit on the drive too....but I doubt it. The drizzle should do a good job of knocking it down a bit. Just depends.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 51° with 92% humidity and there's a slight possibility of rain. The high will be 62°.Today will involve a little more work on the layout I think. I also intend to look at the broken truck I took out of the FP7 last night. Apart from the broken off retaining tabs there's nothing wrong with it mechanically. Maybe I can drill into what's left of the tabs and glue in something to do the job the tabs did. What do I have to lose? A broken truck? Some time? Hey, free time was made to waste. Besides which, this could be fun.
Why does that look like some forlorn outpost in the middle of nowhere.

Morning All,
Currently 28 with an expected high of 54 under mostly sunny skies.
The Switch Tender motors were in the mail when I got home last night, but after Skyping with my son, showering, and having something to eat, i di try and install them. Today is a 9 to 5 so I may have some time to install one or two this evening.
Daughters are coming over tomorrow, for some of dads famous ( at least from my kids point of view) meatlof dinner. And then one or the other will give me a haircut..
Karl, glad you fixed the smoky chimney.
Ulrich, hope things get better for you soon after your parents get into the nursing home.
Ken, watch out for that depression, it can be a killer I hear.
Prayers to all in need.

Mornin' everyone,
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes w/ real maple syrup a couple sausage patties, and lots of dark roast coffee please.
Quite dull (as Barry would say) here in the Finger Lakes this morning. Currently 27°F outside under gloomy skies at the moment. Every once in a while there is enough brightness to cause some shadows, but they don't last long.
Blackie and Manét are on the couch in the living room giving each other their morning bath... I've been sitting here at the computer trying to get through some red tape from the E-Z Pass people. Last month I sent in a request for a "Green" Pass to replace my regular E-Z Pass. NYS offers a 10% discount for vehicles that get 45 mpg or better to use toll the Thruway and since I drive it out to the Museum all Summer, I figured I can save a few $ by getting one. After a month, I haven't heard a thing, and I know one guy with a PIP that lives not far from here got his in 2 weeks. So I called the lady he suggested to see what is going on. She checked and never got the paperwork for it. Of course they have you send to a different place than where they actually process the passes... So she asked if I could fax the required materials to her. I don't have FAX capabilities here so she said I could email it to her. Within a minute she had sent me an email, two minutes later I sent her the needed forms.... Hopefully she will be able to get it processed and on its way to me.
Ulrich! Please know that many of us here are keeping you in our every prayer!
Karl, glad you got the problem with the wood stove fixed. I like the smell of wood smoke, but, not quite that much...
Lion, lookin' good sir! (meow)
OK, now to find out why the wood stove hasn't heated up well enough to get the temperature in the office above 66°F...
Later!
Morning.

Well I called my Bank today First Collinsville Bank for a little help on old statements. Carolin sounded like she was in shock? Asked her what was wrong? She told me the bank had just been robbed! I sure hope all the employees are OK! I have been banking there for 22 years now and know them all by name. My daughter used to work at the bank as a book keeper.
Catch you all later, Ken

Well
Went to wally world to get some pillows we needed, also the covers dna some new pilla cases and a new laundry basket, the old one was duct taped together {as opposed to DUCK tape} in several spots. We needed them badly..
Went to DSS with the paperwork.
Went to get my new CPAP mask.
Went To Casual Male XL to spend some coupons and get some badly needed new clothes that we really can't afford.
So went MOH's first 3 Unenjoyment checks.
MOH still upset and depressed about being fired, but they just wanted to get rid of MOH and others who were "expensive" {not that $2.00 over minimum is "expensive" but It saves them $60. a week without MOH there and a cheapy installed instead}.
Oh well, MOH laundered all the new bedding stuff, now I am laundering my new duds...does luandry EVER END???
Needless to say, I never got to puting trains away today either...maybe its a SIGN?
BAKLAVA for lunch dessert!!!!!
Have agreat afternoon!
I worked on the broken Atlas truck this morning. I ground off what was left of the retainer tabs that would have held it onto the frame. I left the location rough so that glue can hold to it. I put the truck in place in the GP40 frame then super glued a piece of ns rail to it in the location where one of the retaining tabs were. It's now enough to keep the truck in place. The next item on the list for the GP40 is to replace the motor. The one in it runs but sounds like it's grinding itself to pieces.
Howdy All...Its cloudy and 36 here most of the ice is gone but still some slick spots...I'll have a double RBF please...Thank You..I havn't checked in for awhile but I get by most days to check on Youall...I try to ge to the nursing home as often as I can..On top of all Sallie's other problems She had a stroke...but she is doing better now but very weak...Last week end She fell 4 times..She does not always remeber that you visit her...My model railroad helps to keep me going...

Hello, at work right now. Hope to get heading home at about 6 to 6:30ish.
BN#24: Z scale cars being cheaper? They simply don't use all the material that N does. I don't think that any company makes a Z scale dedicated power pack, or if so, I haven't heard of one. I would just look for one that has a low voltage. Seeing what's available, I may go into Z but stay dedicated to N and Postwar Lionel.
