It's just a small building with parking for only 3 buses. Here is the small bus terminal I made this week. Also, I made the shed at track level. I added scenery to this area too. Garry - Thanks for asking about the wife. She is doing very well at this point. She does have to wear a compression stocking and a foot/ankle brace all the time. But she isn't having any pain and we wont see the surgeon again until late Spring. Her only limitations at this point are her movements are restricted by the brace which does not allow the ankle to flex in any way. Lately she is having some pain in her hip, but that may be because of the ankle injury. She does favor that leg a lot when walking. We will see what the surgeon thinks. But she is home and that's what counts. Her eyesight seems to be stable at the present time with no additional loss.
Here's what might be a silly topic, but I was wondering if anyone else but me has gotten interested in "Downton Abbey" on their PBS television station. I have become enthralled with it and eagerly await each episode. Personally, I must admit that Ziva has fallen to 2nd place and has been replaced by Lady Mary. Don't ask me how an old guy becomes so interested in what is a fancy soap opera.
It's been raining all morning, and now they are saying it will turn to snow this afternoon. I knew this would happen as soon as I dropped off the snow blower for repairs. Everybody take care and have a nice weekend.

Not a flurry of snow here in the Binghamton area YET. They say it will close in and between 5pm-12 midnight will be heavy and bring us 6-10 inches.
Resting still sleep a lot form the stomach bug or from the weather. I WAS going to drive somewhere today but cancelled due to snow coming, but it hasn't come yet. Supposed to start 2 pm.
So waiting.... waiting...

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
I just looked at the extended forecast here, up to early March. No mention of ice or cold white stuff though it does make mention of a bit of cold weather, some rain, some lows in the upper 20's. That's cold here. Of course he could be interested in self-preservation too. When weather guessers around here start talking about snow the first statement is 'somebody get a rope'.

Made a dentist appointment and wow, the prices are throught the roof and right into space. Have already decided if the tooth cannot be re-filled, then out it comes.
Posted on the B-man site about the decoder/loco hiss, so will wait to see what is usggested there before trying other suggestions. Might end up sending the darn thing back to Bachmann to have it squared away. Time will tell.
No luck getting parts for the Poulan generator, because the morot was made in China. Will NEVER make that mistake again. Could turn into one of my most expensive boat anchors yet.

2:30PM here in the Finger Lakes. It has started! Can hardly see across the street at the moment and everything is turning white... This part of the storm is not supposed to last long and is predicted to only leave a couple inches of light and fluffy. Overnight we may get another 3 or 4 inches. just enough to make everything look nice out there and make the roads slippery.
Rob, one of the things i miss not having my old truck is that the truck had an 800w inverter in it. I kept the inverter, but have been wondering how to use it if there is a power outage. Have thought about a portable solar panel (my son has one for his boat battery) connected to a couple deep charge marine batteries. On the Prius Chat forum there has been a discussion about using the Prius as a generator to run power for a home in an emergency or to use while camping and such. They don't have a unit for the plug in yet but they are working on it. They claim it can operate at half the cost of a portable generator for the same amount of watts because the engine can cycle on and off. ***Jeffrey, now theres an idea with merit. Hadn't thought about it. I'll ask those old mechanics in town what they think. They have been repairing small engines since before I moved out here so have probably done that many times. Would depend too on how much a new motor would cost me and if the rest of the generator is made with Chinese horse pucky (no offence to my beautiful horses here on the farm), then it might not even be worth dumping any money into it.
***Ray, I have a nice old 1500watt (3000 peak) Inverter I used to use in my van, then used it with the dually diesel pickup when power would go out. Could keep the two blowers (fireplace inserts) running all night and microwave food, etc. with that set up. Wouldn't want to run it off my current pickup with the costs of gasoline these days.
my paycheck was terrible come on tax return $$$ get back to me so I can go buy an NP intermountain FT pair!

I hear ya on that one! Last time I used the inverter in the truck was out at camp to recharge some batteries for my electric trimmer when I was doing the campsites. Nicest thing about the electric trimmer was I can keep at it for several hours without my arms feeling like they want to fall off, and very little vibration compared to my old gas job. One of the few times it really served as an emergency back up was during a major ice storm back in 2003 when the power was off for several days. Only thing I really needed it for then was to run the sump pump and that was very marginal with only 800 watts. Went through a quarter tank of gas on the truck and really didn't run it often....

However, before giving up completely, thought I would try it one last time on the mainline and take notes of exactly which functions did and didn't work. Well, as soon as I hit #4, the hiss went away. I didn't know all those sounds were not programmed to "automatically" turn on and off upon starting and stopping the engine. Hey, even found the number for filling up at the water tank, which I then proceeded to do. Cool! Now if I can just figure out how to program the loco number from the factory setting #3 to the actual number on this loco #12, I'll be all set. Guess I need to get one of those "signal boosters" just to reprogram this one locomotives number. At least I know it works now.]

What a snowfall here. Last time I hard on the news we had over a foot. Snowbanks here are huge. I have one at the end of my driveway that has to be close to 10 feet high. Makes things scary when backing out. Some of the malls lots are bigger then I have seen in years.
there calling for a slight warmup on Monday but cool again mid week. There is also a 40% chance of rain also Monday, oh I hope not or I will have a lake in my yard. I dont mind a gentle warmup but when we get a huge snowfall and then warm temps and rain say the next day it can make things very messy. But it looks like it wont be a big warmup so hopefully things dont get too sloppy. Im waiting for the plow to come, usually when I come in from shoveling all day and sit down is when he shows up,lol. I can only imagine the wall of snow that will be sitting there.

In case you all do not know, getting old sucks. My left knee started bothering me Monday night at work and by today I convinced myself to get it looked at. Osteoarthritis is the diagnosis. Hurts like the dickens when I bend it. Not much can be done at the moment except rest, ice, and pain meds.
Several weeks ago we moved the L shaped layout from my upstairs office to one of the downstairs front rooms. That was an adventure, as it measures 8ft X 8ft X 2 1/2 ft. I have the yard tracks almost finished, except for the runaround, and benchwork is almost complete on three sides. With a bum knee it may take awhile longer to get the rest of the benchwork done and more track down.

Taught 2 CPR classes today so I was gone all day. The conveyor did not come in today. Tomorrow it is off to Disney for several hours then the club for OPS. Sunday I will either work on the conveyor (if it comes in) or clean track.

Barry- I am not preaching but I have dealt with too many CHF pt's that have had difficulty breathing for several days and now they are in really bad shape when they finally call for help. Please don't wait too long before getting help.

Rob, glad to hear you got the hiss turned off. I had a little trouble changing the loco number on a Tsunami equiped Bman consolidation but it can be done. I have a MRC system so yours may work differently. I seem to recall that I programmed it on the main. Anyway, you might at least be able to change a few CV's. Note that the master volume, CV128 is set at the max of 255 from the factory. The hiss is CV 136.
Tom in PA, glad to hear someone else is addicted to Downton Abbey. Only problem is that it is only an hour show! Far too short. Yes Mary is rather attractive and I think she rates far above Ziva. Hope the posse doesn't come after me for that comment. I believe they are doing another series for next year. I wonder if they will perhaps take it up to WW2.

Got part of the layout vacuumed this morning, around a quarter of it. Then the rest of my day got knocked into a bicorne (cocked hat)! My father needed help sorting through some stuff (somebody has to do it) so I went to help. I had lunch AND dinner there. Salmon patties for lunch, cheese burgers for dinner, all homemade. Now I'm wiped out. My foot hurts, my knees hurt, my back hurts! As far as layout work goes today was a total drag.

Will study the Digitrax Manual and see what possible solutions can be figured out for changing the loco number. Until it communicates with that particular decoder, don't see any way of changing anything.
I need to get back to work on removing the shelf to make room for some new benchwork. Just need a little more energy than I presently have. Sure will be grand to have a whole room full of tracks for the trains to roam.
Will be in the corner booth, warming up next to the wood stove.

We shut the shop early today and we were out by 2pm. The governor closed the state roads this afternoon though driving home was not difficult (guess that puts me in the idiot catagory).
Started chores as I suspect we won't be going to the shop tomorrow and I'll have to make up hours Sunday. Did get some hours in on the layout between laundry loads and made progress securing yard tracks and final aligning
Barry - sorry to hear about the CHF. Welcome to the grass, dirt and rocks diet group. After some study about what you can eat and what can be made of food you can have, it's not so bad. Greens are now you best dietary friends LOL.
