The Indian Nations Division of the NMRA located in Tulsa, OK is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 4^th annual Layout Design and Operations Weekend, March 22-24, 2013.

The cost is only $35.00 (Before March 1, then it goes up to $40.00.) Lunch is included with your entry; it will be a catered BBQ lunch. This will give you an opportunity to talk with the presenters, other participants and old friends while having lunch and not have to get in your car and spend time driving around.

 

Shirts are available in either a Green Polo Style, a Polo Style with a pocket or a long sleeve Faded Denim. Examples will be placed on the web page.

Registration and purchasing shirts can be done using pay pal on line from the web page or print off a registration form and mail it in.

We will be hosting Op sessions on the local layouts Friday Evening, Saturday Evening and Sunday morning. When you register, either by using pay pal or the printed form, you can select the layouts you’d like to operate on. There will be multiple layouts available for each session and assignment will be done first come and first serve.

This year’s Design Challenge will be to create a Layout Design Element (LDE). Layout Design Elements, for the Design Challenge, are defined as segments of real railroads that can be scaled down, modeled, and incorporated into a layout design. The LDE ideally should be documented both physically and operationally using maps, literature, photographs, and any other sources of information. There are no restrictions on size, scale, era, or whether prototype or freelanced.

Examples can include lineside industries, interlockings and junctions, prototype scenes, stations, yards, engine facilities, small towns, and so forth. A perfect chance to get a start towards achieving your NMRA Prototype Models AP certificate!

Naturally, those prototype scenes that offer useful scenes applicable to a wider variety of modeling situations will receive the most consideration.

The layout design challenge entries will be compiled and the author of each one will be given a little time to make a short presentation on their design. After the meet all entries will be compiled and submitted to the Layout Design Journal for possible publication.
