hold on, let me get my Diesel Spotters Guide...even though I'm not a big fan of the Canadian railroads, I would love to see some Draper-Taper 40, 50, and even 60's. Or a good quality plastic C-415 in HO/N.
Speaking of Alco, someone (*ahem* Atlas *ahem*) could fill out the Century series a little better with a C-424 model, specifically in N, and a rehash of HighHood switchers with updated tooling (better detail) in N.
But then again I guess I am stuck on N, unless I move into an warehouse or department store or something like that.
I would like to see a rerun of HO scale GP35`s.
I also would like to see a decent model of an Ingersol-Rand, Alco, GE boxcab.
I think it would be cool to see U36B`s with the slugs called MATES.......Seaboard had those.
Maybe some of the smaller builders smaller "critters".......Witcomb center cab switchers, Porter 4 wheel loco`s.....and the like.

I already own several each of both significant diesel-hydraulic classes (DD13 and DD51) that were in use in 1964. The earlier diesel-electric designs and one-of-a kinds don't interest me.
My coal hauler owns ONE diesel - a 'critter,' The prefectural government recently passed a law that steam locos couldn't be used to switch magazines. (No problem with hauling explosives behind steam in line-haul trains. Go figure.) I would like an ACL R-1 Northern. I know it was offered in brass years ago, but try finding one!
Currently, I'm building one from a bachmann northern with the tender from an IHC mountain.On the engine, its really a matter of removing some details and painting it. The tender I have has the correct trucks, except they're 3 instead of 4 axle. (I can live with that, especially on my 26'' radius curves)
The problem I'll have is wiring it up for DCC- I've never combined a DCC ready tender with a DC engine before. I have the matching plug from the IHC mountain engine, so its possible!

Aside from the SD40-2 and C30-7 that have yet to see a really high-quality model, I'd love a good Alco C415.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
In N scale I would like to see an early version SD 40-2 and a MP15 AC.

from 1967 to 1975 the northern lower michigan shortline Cadillac & Lake City Railway had a lima hamilton 750 hp switcher. its on the whitewater valley scenic rr in indiana.
For new production, a NH FL9 (coming soon from River Point Station) is my number 1 choice. After that, I'd like to see some New Haven steam to compliment the BLI I-5 Hudson...perhaps an I-4 Pacific, an R-3 Mountain or a L-1 Santa Fe. Then I'd like to see a good SW1200 that can easily be NH-ized (Flexicoil trucks). Hmm... Then some of the oddballs, like an Alco HH600, a Lima-Hamilton LS-1200, a decent H16-44 (TM-style), and the really odd "Roger Williams" Budd cars, FM P12-42's and the BLH RP-210's.
For old production, I wish Walthers would make FA-1/FB-1/FB-2's again in a different NH paint scheme than before. I also wouldn't mind seeing Athearn make McGinnis RS-3's and there are several DL-109 paint schemes that P1K has yet to make.Paul A. Cutler III

I mean, earlier this year I would have said an S-2, S-3, S-4...but Bachmann and Atlas definitely knocked our socks off with that one.

Although it's not Walthers, you will be in luck for a GMD1 in the not-too-distant future. Although not "officially" announced, this is one of Rapido Trains' next projects in the works (here's the video "announcing" the project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7jnQU2zetI&feature=plcp). Given the quality of their first loco release (the GMD FP9A), there's nobody I can imagine doing a better job with the GMD1!
Now as for the original question, I can't think of any out of production items I'd like to see back (although I would love to see a better quality P42DC produced in HO), but I do have a few never-produced items on my "wish list".
There's a number of Canadian prototypes that have never been produced (aside from resin kits) that I'd love. CN SD50F/SD60F, C40-8M, or Canadian cabbed C44-9WL, as well as rebuilt GP9RM. Not sure if any of these are too likely, but I also didn't think that RTR CN safety cabs of any variety would likely happen, and now we have the SD40-2W, GP38-2W, and GP40-2W!
My ultimate never-offered-but-I-would-absolutely-love model: the F40PH-2d built for VIA Rail, in both as-delivered and more recent 2010+ rebuilt form.

I would like to see MTH, Intermountain or Kato come out with a SD90MAC H II. We kit bashed an H model, but would like to have the HII with the more modern cab design, etc.
