Happy Weekend Photo Fun!!!
Here is something that was & has been kicking around for a few years...My first Steamer, (thank you Grampa), a TYCO 2-6-2 Prairie.Wanting to do it justice & still maintain a little of the TYCO flavor, but still undecided, & looking for the other bag of parts (the Borrower's took it, again!) Yeah it's Freelanced, as a deep woods unit..
PS: See, I don't 'only' model diesels! heh heh... I really do admire Steam!!!
Nice work, Chad. Looking forward to seeing it in paint.
I had two projects this week. First was a Durango Press Rio Grande water tank.
I really gotta do something about that ditch next to the tracks in the first pic. Some fireman's going to break his leg in it! [It's actually the joint where the lift-out access to the tracks below intersects the roadbed, needs more ground cover there... ] Then there was my major land acquisition, where I added considerable acreage at Dove creek, as recounted in this thread, my Halloween effort: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/211130.aspx Here's a preview of the results so far:

Gidday All, Good stuff guys. A "guilty pleasure" Chad ??
Been slacking this week Mike??
Still making removable coal loads. While working out how many loads I required, I came across an unbuilt hopper, so with a "hats off" to Heartland Garry I assembled it.
Also attended club night, I have started cutting and assembling the timber framework for the corner modules, not really worthy of a photo yet. However a new club member bought in his first ever model railway purchase, hadn't even been out of the box, so one of the lads helped him set it up for it's first run.
Atlas, DCC, and sound, too modern for me but very nice, the proud owner was tickled pink.
Have A Good One Folks,
Cheers, the Bear.

Added a new highway overpass this week and incorporated one of my first HO scale buildings into the scene. The building was renamed and thanks go out to Tomkat-13 for the signs.

Very nice shots this week.

I have been trying to "customize" some vehicles for the layout. Several weeks ago, I tried a cement truck and a few of you had some suggestions (still working on the USDOT logo). Here is an HO scale Boley flat bed that I customized. The door decals are "water slide" and the weathering is some old black make-up, sealed with dullcoat.

A couple of years ago a crack formed in my backdrop where two sections of hardboard meet. I thought of several ways to remedy the unsightly/distracting area including sanding it down and trying to repaint in matching colors, which I concluded was darn near impossible to do. So I took the, to me... easy way out as seen in the photos below.
Still not through with the area, needs a few more trees, bushes etc. but I think it did the job.
Jarrell
Great idea Jarrell. Not only did you solve the problem but you turned it into an asset.
Your solution reminds me of when I had a large rock in my backyard. I could move it but there was no way I could lift it. My dad came up with the answer. Did a hole and bury it.
Similar but different issues.
Don't Ever Give Up
Looks like a great start to the weekend with some great modeling!
I have been continuing building the "mountain" which will go behind the tracks going to staging. It is about 2/3rds. finished at this point with lots of trees, bushes, vines, and other things like critters to be added.

What crack ?. Does anyone see a crack?. Seriously, some really great rock work you have there. Otto

Great looking truck. I'd take that on my layout anyday.

Thanks Otto and Bob. It was one of those things that... you know... you try not to look at. The crack I mean. Maybe if you don't pay attention to it, it won't bother you, you'll get used to it.
I swear there would be times that I KNOW it called to me.. Psssst! I'm still heeeerrrre.
I had to do something.
Nothing new so here's something I built a while back. EMD F unit converted to a chopped roof slug. A couple of photos of the chassis:

Curt,
Very nice. May I ask what year is being modeled?
Bob- Thank you. I try to stay in the 1940-1950 period but occasionally stray into the early 50's.
Nice work everybody.
Bear .... Good choice of road names for the hopper.
Here are pictures of Unions Station I took a few months ago.

Have it (the crack) sign up for the forums. Then, like the rest of us (and our post counts), it will begin to dwindle away to nothing. Until then, your doing a good job keeping the crack at bay......
motely222 Great looking truck. I'd take that on my layout anyday.
Thanks for the compliment!
FYI, making a note: according to the current post counter, this is my 250th post. Which is less than I had a few days ago. We'll see where this goes............

Nice looking custom slug. Did you have to reglue the motor on the chassis?

"I spilled some Red Paint!"I also got some airbrush time & am attempting to make a fairly nice, but not perfectly new looking custom Autorack. This was an 89' Accurail, Open Bi Level, that I cut down to 73 feet. Yes, I made it so the 'Rack' is removable, it helps load vehicles, & lets me do other things, which I will share soon with future pix.
Question? Did any of you think.... "Hey, Nice Rack!" ...?
Excellent contributions this week, it is always fun to see the Great Modelling & Great Photograpy here in this thread!!!! Thank YOU!!!!
ChadLRyan Question? Did any of you think.... "Hey, Nice Rack!" ...?
I'm always on the lookout for a nice rack!!
At the last Boeing swap meet I picked up these 4 CB&Q Reefers with KD's & metal wheels for $12 ($3 each). So today I did some quick weathering with India ink & chalk. (I now see after I took the photos that a couple of the cars are off the track!)
Found a neat old photo of my Midland GP38's passing my grain mill. Pic was taken a few years back and the mill is currently in storage. It shall soon return!

Great Shots Everyone!!!
I Spilled Some Blue Paint! On some Athearn shells, a GP40X, & an SD60M. Both detailed out. Glad to see these in color, finally!!!
I am really happy to have a productive weekend in modelling, it feels real nice!!!
Holy Cow!!!! Replied to my own post!! (well the paint was still fluid, & applied!)...
I Spilled Some Black Paint!!!On the Sill/Pilot of this Atlas MP15DC.Honestly, I didn't intend to make the; "I Spilled some Paint" a total theme, but that is the run I seem to be on!Perhaps next week it will be " There is a Decal for That!!" -as that is what I will be doing!Actually, I also 'layed a patch' from the previous paint IC&E Blue, on the cab of this model. (conversely, not 'Layed a Patch' with my high performance car! -busy painting models!)However, I found I had not appropriated a sill/pilot deck for one of these units, (thought I did, but during assembly & minting, I knew I had not.)..So, I looked at the kit contents & I added custom front & rear Ditch light brackets, added the drop steps, & then hit it with Black Paint!!! -Hence the opening line..This has been a great 'Modeling Weekend' for me, & wish they were always like this!I added the couplers & boxes to just support the transport to the photo shoot, & also painted the red to the cap & gauge on the Fuel Tank.Say, Any guesses of what this MP15DC 'Road' was from, & then what it will be 'Decaled as'?? Most of you already know, I speculate & guess....! (if you know me & the color scheme!)…These Atlas MP15’s are really nice kits, this one was an undec, & now has (hee hee) some paint on it.
GARRY Is that suposed to be of the station in Omaha ,Nebraska? sure looks like it. I have neeb in thatbuilding several times( as a kid and as a grown man) thank you for the inperastion.
