Morning All,
Currently 54 with an expected high of 89 under mostly sunny skies.
Curt -Hope the fever is nothing serious.
Wednesday is my normal day off, so I am heading to the hospital in a bit to see if the docs are going to give wife second round of chemo. Depends of how other things are going. Then do some food shopping, laundry, and house cleaning. If time permits I will continue to weather track.
Prayers to all in need.

I called off work today. Last night when I got off my temp was 101.6 and felt like dog doo doo warmed over. I feel better but still not right. The fever must be breaking though because I am sitting in the living room with the AC and ceiling fan on and I'm sweating like I'm outside in the sun. The only thing I plan on doing today is take a nap.
Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Good Morning all,
Freaking cold outside for September, 52F, 594% Humidity, HI 63F (yes right), Rumors of Frost inland this week. Next thing you’ll hear is the Browns are going to win a game this season….
Jim I like to think I completed the required standards of one contract and I started another contract with the same organization. But if it’s double dipping then someone had to do it and it might as well be me, ha, ha, ha…
Todd, it will be the last dog brush you will have to buy…

Good morning, Diners. Chloe, I will have a large black coffee with a cinnamon roll, please.
Jim, If you look closely, you can see the side rods. He will probably try a side view on the next one. He just started painting this spring, so I think he is off to a good start.
I will hang out a little longer on Thursday.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good morning. It's 58° with 90% humidity. Somebody up north left the door open. The high will be 82° and it'll be partly cloudy.Plan for today is to get the grass mowed. Anything else will come as it may.

Coffee and a stack of Buttermilk flapjacks with real butter and Blueberry syrup please. Thank you.
Sunny, with a high near 75. Breezy.
Sue- tell Larry great painting!
Lee- $50 is a lot of money for a brush however….., considering the amount of electricity to run the vacuum cleaner almost hourly it seems, the wear and tear (though it is a Kirby so that is minimal. Durn things run forever. Ones 11 years old the other is like 30) and granted that isn’t much, but the bags filled due to the fact that you have to run it so much and of course my precious time, $50 doesn’t seem so bad. We brush her often, but obviously not often enough because well, let’s face it, we’re lazy.
Jim- Not sure if the amount of things to do in a day is increasing, or I’m just slowing down. I’m kinda leaning toward the latter . So, the pro’s have a quick project that took longer than they figured huh? Well I know all too well that feeling.
Well I got to check out the guys pick-up yesterdee and the generator is fried. I also said I think they (the body shop) wired the truck wrong. He took the generator in to the repair shop (yes there is still a place that rebuilds alternators and generators) and they said it was bad and that they’d check the truck out if he’d bring it in. Sounded good to me. One less thing to do right? Weeell not exactly. It sounds like he’s gonna get the generator back, have me put it on, look at the wiring, put in a cigarette lighter (doesn’t smoke so why he’s wanting that so bad....?) then he wants to take it to them. Ok, his nickel.
Mortar is still not dried so another day of odds and ends othern shower.
Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

GOOD MORNING!!!
Bill has provided the date.
When something goes wrong and we want to express it in writing, the word
AAAAAARRRRGH! Comes to mind, SO:
argh / aargh / aaargh / aaaargh / aaarrgh / aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh
(etc)-
exclamation, usually ironic or humorous (in this sense usually written and rarely verbal) - Argh, or more dramatically Aaaaaaaaaargh, is an exclamation - a written scream. Aaaarrrgh (there are hundreds of popular different spelling variants) typically expresses a scream or cry of ironic or humorous frustration. There seems no doubt that Aaargh is flourishing in its various forms due to the immediacy and popularity of internet communications (blogs, emails, etc), although actually it has existed in the English language as an exclamation of strong emotion (surprise, horror, anguish according to the OED) since the late 1700s. The OED prefers the spelling Aargh, but obviously the longer the version, then the longer the scream. In this respect it's a very peculiar and unusual word - since it offers such amazing versatility for the user. Spelling varies most commonly in the number of 'A's, and to a lesser extent in the number of 'R's. Repetition of 'G's and 'H's is far less prevalent. If you are wondering what Aaaaaarrrrgh and variants actually sound like, then consider the many types of outrageous screams which traditionally feature in fight/death/falling scenes in TV/cinema. Notable and fascinating among these is the stock sound effect known as the Wilhelm Scream. Incidentally (apparently) the term Wilhelm Scream was coined by Star Wars sound designer Ben Burtt, so-called because it was used for the character Private Wilhelm in a 1953 film The Charge at Yellow River. The sound effect was (again apparently) originally titled 'man being eaten by an alligator'. Please note that this screen version did not directly imply or suggest the modern written usage of Aaaarrrgh as an expression of shock - it's merely a point of related interest. The frustration signified by Aaargh can be meant in pure fun or in some situations (in blogs for example) with a degree of real vexation. The powerful nature of the expression is such that it is now used widely as a heading for many articles and postings dealing with frustration, annoyance, etc. The main usage however seems to be as a quick response in fun, as an ironic death scream, which is similar to more obvious expressions like 'you're killing me,' or 'I could scream'. To some Aaaaargh suggests the ironic idea of throwing oneself out of a towerblock window to escape whatever has prompted the irritation. AAAAAARRRRGH (capitals tends to increase the volume..) is therefore a very flexible and somewhat instinctual expression: many who write it in emails and blogs would not easily be able to articulate its exact meaning, and certainly it is difficult to interpret a precise meaning for an individual case without seeing the particular exchange and what prompted the Aaargh response. That said, broadly speaking, we can infer the degree of emotion from the length of the version used. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgh clearly has a touch more desperation than Aaarrgh. The use of Aaaaargh is definitely increasing in the 21st century, and in different ways. Often the meaning includes an inward element like Homer Simpson's 'doh', or an incredulous aspect like Victor Meldrew's 'I don't believe it', and perhaps in time different spellings will come to mean different things. Interestingly the web makes it possible to measure the popularity of the the different spelling versions of Aargh, and at some stage the web will make it possible to correlate spelling and context and meaning. For now, googling the different spellings will show you their relative popularity, albeit it skewed according to the use of the term on the web. I suspect that given the speed of the phone text medium, usage in texting is even more concentrated towards the shorter versions. See Oliver Steele's fascinating Aargh webpage, (he gives also Hmmm the same treatment..) showing the spellings and their Google counts as at 2005. Interestingly the (April) 2008 Google count for Argh has now trebled to 9.3 million, and is no doubt still growing fast along with its many variations
Have a GREAT Day!!!

Evening Dinners
Why Thank You Flo!
Sorry I have been so distracted lately. I have a lot on my mind lately and none of it is cheerful. Today was real slow, sat on my caboose most of the day. which was nice after Monday. But, did not make squat.
No word from Bank Of Stupid so far about modifying the home loan, Nor A Move Your Layout Letter either.
Stress Test. Sue is going to give it a shoot this Friday. So again I have to get up early to take her, if she does not take the test this time, well she won't die from heart problems.
See you all later, Ken
I hate Rust
Jeffrey- You might want to take the charger with you, that way you can check it's compatibility with the new batteries. I'd love to have that baggage car instead of my trailer larger layout space (compared to almost none now).
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just my usual cup of decaf right now.
'twas a rainy day here in the Finger Lakes with about 3/4" of liquid sunshine here today. I did check the meter down cellar during the darkest part of the storm and the panels were still producing usable power though at a very reduced rate...
I did a bit of house cleaning (Sure needs a lot more) as granddaughter #2 will be here for a couple hours tomorrow so my son can get his annual hearing exam at work. Of course they couldn't do THAT during a day he is on the job as they wouldn't get w*rk from him during those 20 minutes... So he has to waste a morning of a day off and drive over there for the test. It is a requirement of his job.
I also painted several feet of rail rust brown today and did a few feet more of ballasting on the upper staging area.
I was just starting supper tonight when I spotted an ambulance in the driveway of a house almost across the street from mine. An elderly couple bought the house a few years ago. The husband fell and broke his hip not long after they moved in and may have passed away a year or so ago. Not sure. I have seen gthe lady who has difficulty getting around, but can walk a short distance a few times getting in and out of cars taking her places. No lights on over there tonight and when the ambulance left it was not in any hurry... I fear the worst for her!
Jeffrey, what kind of batteries does the cart use? Lead acid, Li-ion, or some other kind? I'm thinking they must be deep charge lead acid if a regular battery charger can charge then up. With the battery technology available today, they should be using something that can last for a decade or more and have thousands of cycles. might be a bit more expensive up front, but much cheaper and better in the long run.
Well, I am exhausted and have an early morning tomorrow, so I will head out soon!
Prayers for all in need!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Hey Jeff,
Most chair batteries are gell cell now and most of the chargers have low voltage cuts so they won't burn out trying to charge a totally dead battery. Many now also need to be kept topped up or once they go flat they lose some percentage of their capacity. We get ours from Sears or Interstate and they last about 4 to 5 years as jumper batteries. We pay about $80.00 apiece for them. Some ti mes we can get a too low battery to charge by hooking in a good one in prarallal. Some of the auto parts stores will load test your batteries for you but I agree they sound shot. Good luck.
Rain all day and I spent the day checking wiring harnesses J.R.
Good evening from tropical west Louisiana. It's a pleasant 76°. Chance of rain tonight seems to be nil.Checked the batteries on the power chair today. Seems that they're both toast. Won't hold a charge for long. So naturally they have to be replaced. My father isn't a happy camper about that but oh well. I don't live under his roof so I don't have to listen to him gripe. Picked up a few things in town today. Among them a bottle of super glue gel, a dust pan (been needing one for years) and a half pound roll of 60/40 lead solder. Radio shack still sells the stuff. I got fed up with the no-lead crap years ago. It just doesn't seem to work right for me. I also got a new backup battery for my alarm clock. The old one was down to six volts and the clock would lose it's memory when the power went out. Got a two-pack so I'll have a spare on hand. Probably forget where I put it when I need it.Tomorrow I may be able to mow the grass. It needs it. I have to fix the tractor first. I need to install an idler pulley and a starter relay.Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin', Chloe - I'll have a hot fudge sundae, and a CAW mug of decaf, please. Thank you!
Sounds like several of you Diners are having Barry's kind of "dull, dull, dull..." day (with drizzle...). I don't know if you were behind on your rainfall for the year there (we still are about 13+ inches behind for the year here), but it may be that a few of you up the Ohio River Valley (and upstate NY/PA vicinity) are about saturated with the liquid sunshine.
Jeff, hope you can get a battery (or have yours rebuilt) for your mother's "Wheelie machine" (aka cart/wheelchair).
Lee, I hear you about the length of a day, but I thought you weren't really, really retired... (just "double-dipping", isn't that what it's called? ) That's a good tip about picking/being picked by a dog. If I get where I can have a dog again, I will remember that!
Vincent/Packer - you are one determined MRRer, when it comes to getting a loco like you want it! (Wish I could be that determined...)
Not sure what was going on at w**k today - started out pretty slow, almost nobody came in before 11 a.m. (usually, we'll get people by 9:30 or 10 a.m. at the latest), and when it was 3:30-4 p.m. (when things usually slow down for the day, unless we get a crisis), got 2 or 3 walk-in people (non-crisis). I think I'm gonna stop coming in early - last two days I got there 7:45 a.m., but didn't leave until just a bit before 5 p..m. But at least I got a lot more caught up on some paperw**k and got some people apptmts. w/doctors.
On the remodeling at the restaurant where I use the WiFi, all they did was to re-do the area behind their coffee serving area (was louvered divider panels, is now drywalled/solid, but yet to be finished and painted). Guess this might take the remodelers longer than t'was expected...
I'll be finishing off my sundae at the RC for now.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Happy birthday!
LSWrrJeff, they should make those batteries compatible with power tools, then you could justify having a few spares around the house. Do you have a Bull Dog Battery nearby? http://www.bulldogbattery.com/ if they don’t have it or can’t get it they will re-build it. Last time I was there buying a watch battery I saw CSX picking up locomotive batteries.
Steady miserable rain….
Galaxy be real careful running that generator without adequate ventilation it might be the last mistake you make. Have you thought of building a dog house for the generator so it could sit outside in the rain?
Jim when I was in the military days could last 72 hours it seems, but now that I’m retired they only have 24-hours…….

I have a set of 18v Ryobi tools and the lithium Ion batteries cost $89 each. Last summer I bought the 18v hedge trimmers for $75 and it came with a charger and a battery. 2 summer’s ago I bought the 18v grass trimmer for $50 and it came with a battery and a charger. I’m watching the power tools that come with the battery for another sale. I was at a friend’s house running my reciprocating saw two days for about 3 hours each day cutting up that old train layout. He asked me how long the battery lasts; I told him I didn’t know still running the same battery from the first day…..
Sue, nice painting. When you pick out a lab puppy you should never take home the hyperactive one or the one sleeping. I normally let the puppy pick me. If I walk through the puppies I wait for one to follow me out of the litter or I’ll sit away from them and wait to see who comes to me on their own.
Well I've been fixing up the cracked shells and it looks like I can save them. I've been working on an F9A and have gotten all the nose mold lines off (if you have seen a stewart F, you know what I mean), the holes for the horns plugged, and the skirts cut. I'll get a pic of it when the last bit of putty dries.
pascaff*Jeff - battery manufactures could probably build a longer lasting battery, but then we would not have to buy their product as often.
Ditto, someone I know said they got into trouble at a job because they made a product that lasted too long.
Ken - Sorry your wife did not get to take the stress test, but dealing with all the doctors we are dealing with here, I am not so sure it was a bad idea to not take the test.
Sue - Larry did a nice job on that painting.
Jeff - battery manufactures could probably build a longer lasting battery, but then we would not have to buy their product as oftem.
I have a closing shift again today, so off to the hospital then work, should get home around 11:30. Talk about a long day, I have been up since 0600.
"... It's a rainy, rainy day, just a rainy, rainy day..."
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning. Over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast to go along with several cups of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR Mug please.
Just like where Galaxy is, it is wet and dreary outside here in the Finger Lakes today. Currently 65°F outside with a high of 69°F this afternoon. At least the air conditioners are not running. We have had a little over 1/2" of rain so far and about an inch forecast. Guess I'll have to do some indoor stuff. Let's see I really should clean house as #2 Granddaughter is coming over for a couple hours tomorrow morning, and there is plenty of model stuff I could do as well. Hmmmmmm... "Eenie, Meenie, Mynee...."
Sue, nice shay painting!
......... May have to shut down for a while. Just saw a flash outside!
Later!
JimRCGMOJeff, it sounds like if your mother still has her sense of humor, she's doing okay. Best wishes on getting that battery to charge up, 'twill be kinda pricey otherwise. You'd think that by now, the battery manufacturers would come up with longer lasting batteries. Then again, they make money selling us new ones, right?
Lee, I'd have to go look at my package for sure; I am pretty sure it's the room temp vulcanizing (or something like that), but don't recall if it's two part or not. Might be, as I think I recall some kind of mixing cup was in the package... (I'll try to keep up on what you find out and post).
Good Morning, Zoe, I'll have a glass of OJ, a Santa Fe mug of coffee, and a blueberry muffin, please. Oh, yes, slice it and toast it, and a pat of butter, too. Thank you!
Ken, I certainly hope today goes better for you. Sorry Sue didn't get the stress test done (maybe she'll change her mind later). for a better day for you both.
Galaxy, it looks like you and my son-in-law have the same birthday. Speaking of birthdays, do you have your hints out to YOH yet?
Jeremy - until 4:30 this afternoon? - lonnnggg day!
Sue, tell Larry he does very nice w**k on that painting. Of course, I was thinking when you first said it that it'd show the side rods and all on the Shay, but that is a great one there.
Jeff, it sounds like if your mother still has her sense of humor, she's doing okay. Best wishes on getting that battery to charge up, 'twill be kinda pricey otherwise. CN Charlie, I see no problem about your wanting that articulated loco - after all, it will run on your layout's curves, right?
Todd, I don't know if it has anything to do with my/your age, but it does seem that there is an abundance of things to do in the day, doesn't it? Now, if I could just get more hours in my days (including for sleep after everything)...
Cooler out this morning - got out a long-sleeve shirt and wore a jacket. Once I got to the office, it seemed warm; maybe I would've been better off keeping the jacket, but only wearing short sleeved shirt. Ah, fall cannot be far behind, I guess.
Think I'll sit a spell at the window booth and watch the morning switcher.
Morning coffee refill
hello again.
RAIN, RAIN, go away... We have rain ALL DAy..about 2 inches worth...and two storms colliding to make for nasty winds around here. I hope the jet stream changes somehow as if this keeps up for winter, we will be smashed with more snow than we know to do with!
I foudn this video as a video of the day The Gadling video of the day fo trains going through the canton of Ticino, Swiss ALps. They point out that "it is so artfully done is almost looks like a model railway" so don't be fooled! {or will you?}
http://vimeo.com/11662117
Later today I will NOT be ont eh computer as winds get high, and rain storms collide, will probably leave us without power! We DO have a generator, but no way to run it as it wil be raining. We need to replace the clear plastic heavy corrugated mill sheets on the proch..I may insist we install chaep windows instead so we can open them and run the generator without it sufficating us or the porch!
Well, I guess I'dbest get to laundry before the storms get worse so they can finish,
LAter gaters,

CNCharlie, I had an issue with Krylon Matte spray partially dissolving a set of decals so I stopped using it on my locomotives. It did give the decal a very distressed look so I still use it on building advertisements.
Articulated is the only way to go, but I would hold out for a 2-8-8-2, LOL.
Katje is good at figuring things out. When I go to work she stays in her kennel. I get up, let her out of the kennel we go outside, then I get ready for work, but I don’t put my dress shirt on until I’m ready to head out the door. She runs around and plays in the morning but as soon as she sees that my shirt is on she runs to the kennel.
Todd, I didn’t believe the Furmiator would be any better than the other brushes or the shedding blade I was using and I was shocked at the $50 price tag, but my co-worker got one for father’s day and had pictures of the mountain of hair it removed from his dogs and I figured out the cost of all the other brushes that had broke exceeded $50 so I gave it a try. The Furminator is made of a solid piece of metal and is heavy duty for sure. The teeth have a push button cleaner to remove the hair. If you have a large dog the amount of hair brushed out is reminiscent of shearing sheep….
Jim if it’s the clay or brush on latex mold kit, I’m sorry for the epic failure you’re about to experience…. Those are good for rocks but if it’s detail you want to reproduce then the 2 part latex is the best.
Packer, that rail car has been used for cement service in the past maybe you will need to re-stencil the car.
Morning guys
Well I don't work until 3pm, so I'm going to try sanding the putty I applied to the cracks of those F-units last night. If the weather co-operates, I'll paint up the remainder of the wheelsets that I have left to paint.
CN Charlie, Have you tried Valspar clear flat. I tried it and I like it. Just don't go on to heavy or it looks kinda chalky.
Sue, That painting of Larry's looks good.
