Hello,Here in the US we have a holiday, 'Labor Day' & an extra day for Weekend Photo Fun!!!!Lets get Started!
Here is an older finished model with a more recetly finished one, both are Kato HO units of older vintage, customized to IC&E patched units in a late '90's era.Shows improvements in modelling skill, about 2+ years worth... ha hah..
OK Chad!
Which is the older unit and which is the newer unit? I'm going to bet on the unit on the right being the newer one because I think there has been some very skillful minor weathering and softening of the colours. The one on the left looks like it needs to be run through a mud puddle. Am I right?
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Ahhhhhh! The weekend is here!
Finally... I have the tracks all installed leading to the lower staging area on the SLOW. Most all the tracks are hand laid code 83 and have Fast Tracks Hand Laid turnouts as well. A few areas that will not show and the tracks in the staging area itself are Atlas code 83, but about 85% of this whole rebuild is hand laid track. Please pardon the mess, as this was the first test run of a train into the staging area, and there is still some track to be laid and adjustments to be made before adding details, paint, and ballast to the trackage. In the next couple days the route into the upper staging should be finished as well. here is tonight's successful run (only two misswired frogs that were easy fixes...).

Nice work so far, guys.
I built a nice little elevator from a Rocky Mountain Model Works kits, their #HO-106. Not sure if they're still around. but it went together well. The instructions were really good on finishing and painting, which is a help to a paint klutz like me.
This will be the office at the ASARCO mill and smelter in Durango. I'm also working on a Tsunami install on my Sunset K-28. Just needs lights (SMD LEDs maybe in the mail here today?) and the speaker hooked up, plus a final tidying up of things. May have pics by the end of the weekend on that.

Yes, the GP35 is latest modelling effort, although older Kato model. The SD45 I finished about 2 years ago & didn't want to try weathing it then, now it does look out of place!
Jack Dalton!!! Sure I know Jack where is his DH2C Beaver on floats? Bruce also had a great role in the "Miami Vice" episode 'Out Where the Busses Dont Run.'
Great work everyone. This is a old shot of a K4s making up a coal drag at the mine.

Nice pictures everyone. I haven't been modeling or even really reading the forums lately. Since I have nothing new to offer I figured I would post some older shots.
I haven't been modeling because work has taken everything out of me. When I get home I just want to do this!
Great pics, Corey. That cat looks like he's got the spirit.
Is the cat HO or N-scale? Kit or RTR?
Great cat.
Here is my WIP, a Branchline kit. Still needs lots of work.
I'm trying to model 1956, not live in it.
well Jeff how long before you are able to get these engines out of this ugly yellow and grey with red scheme and into your first rate black and white power? Can't wait to see them.
After a whole lot more work than I thought I still had left (found several areas in the yard I had not put in power feeds to or wired the frog yet) tonight, I finally backed the Lakeshores Limited into her berth in the Upper Staging on the SLOW. Only difficulty was one of the 3 axle trucks on the Baggage car wants to derail at the Walthers curved turnout. The inside route is a bit tighter than I figured it would consistently want to stay railed and as her track will be the one by the wall, it should have not had a problem.. I think the 3 coaches have trucks that are not as free wheeling as they should so with a bit of tweaking the problem should be resolved. Only has the problem backing up, but she will have to be backed into staging after every operating session.

Jumping into Model Railroad Season with some recently finished Freight Cars.Since I was painting a boxcar with Floquil Dark Green paint, I assembled this Atlas kit quickly and painted it also, lettered with Herald King Decals, an Ex-M&StL PS 2003 CF Covered Hopper, lettered in the current C&NW scheme while keeping its old car number.A Details West FGE RBL Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Aluminum (Roof), CNW Yellow (Sides) and Black (Ends). Lettered with Herald King Decals. The CNW rostered a large number of these FGE RBL's.Even though ExactRail made a RTR version of this car, I already had the Microscale Decal for this car so I got an undecorated kit. Car in Painted in White, Black Underframe and a Galvanized Roof. Used Scalecoat II paint. Thanks for looking!

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
This is a Rivarossi 10-6 sleeper I metalized into the SCL scheme a while back. I hope to have some photos of my latest projects soon

I got the crazy idea to try and simulate a rain storm on the layout today. Here's the results:
I shot this at f/36 and used the flash and a 1/2 second exposure to give me the gloomy overcast look. I sprayed water in front of the camera during the exposure to simulate the rain drops. The flash also illuminated the water droplets. I think the effect worked well. The trains are N Scale and the locomotive is a Bachmann Spectrum 4-6-0
Here's a story to go with the photo:
Uh oh, it seems a freak thunder storm has hit upstate South Carolina. Hampton & Branchville #44, is seen paused at the Pinnacle Falls Trail flag stop, no doubt to pick up some hikers who got caught in the rain. Number 44 is currently on loan to the Cherokee Foothills Railroad from the South Carolina Railroad museum for use on the Blue Ridge Scenic Train. She's here until CFRR's 4-4-0 #3783 completes her 1472-day FRA boiler inspection.

Lots of nice work, everybody.
My SMD LEDs arrived and I finished the bulk of the work on the Tsunami install.
The 476 is the loco that started me in narrowgauge, some years after I first saw her spotted at the end of track on Blair St. in Silverton. In testing the 476 and her sister, 480, I found where I somehow introduced a kink in the approach track to the bridge. The first pic shows the kink. This image shows how much I needed to snip off the ends of the rails to relieve the kink. The final image shows the track template I use to check curvature with the rail now that it's been reset to an even curve, without the gapping at both ends that showed in the first photo of the kink.

Terry,
That's a funky sound. I love it! Which sound decoder did you use? I've got an RDC and a Sperry detector car that I eventually want to put sound in, so have been considering my options.

After doing some research i found out the US Postal Service required the C&O to convert it's Doodle bugs to deisel because of the fire hazzard of the gas engines
so i used an RDC sound file loaded into an N Scale decoder
I used the N scale decoder because of its small size and no cutting was required for the install
you can read about it here>http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/744/t/208628.aspx<
In memory of our friend Wolfgang Dudler, I painted this Bachmann 0-6-0T tank engine for the Westport Terminal, after Wolfgang's HO scale railroad.

Wow Mr B Thats a cool Tribute and looks great
Mr B,
Excellent tribute to a well known, well liked model railroader who has left us way too soon.
Nice grain silo Mike, and yes they are still around, interesting site.
