Train Town USA, 150 years of UP
Posted by E-L man tom on Sunday, July 8, 2012 9:58 PM

Hi all,

just wanted to let you know that the "Train Town USA" excursion train was here in Boise over the weekend. I talked to one of the crew and he said that the train will go system wide over the next few months celebrating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Union Pacific. many stops will have celebrations at the depots of these cities where it will stop. The train had many coaches and an observation car etc. and was "pulled" by and A-B-A set of E9's - - very nice. Also, as a back up there was an SD90ac. The train got here very early Saturday (July 7) morning (2:30 to be exact) and just left a few minutes ago as of this writing. Maybe the train has been to your city already. Abnd, if it hasn't and the UP goes through your town, maybe you'll catch it. The next major stop will be Portland, Oregon, with many stops in between here and there.
