The new wood warren bridge over Boulder Creek on the Boulder Creek and Wetsern Railroad is nearly complete! the crews have been working on this project as fast as they can so to get train traffic moving again as it has been halted because of the construction. The line should be open either today or tomorrow.

Oil discovered on the outskirts of Frisco

Following the discovery of oil on the outskirts of Frisco early yesterday, the Coyote Gulch & Quahog RR is already makeing plans to upgrade the Chico branchline. Frisco with it's population of 75 sits 80 miles North West of Coyote Gulch. Only two trains a week travel to the town except during the Spring and Fall summer ru***o get cattle to market when there are two trains a day. The railroad with the assistance of the Sunoco oil company have made plans to jointly upgrade the right of way, it is estimated as many as 10 trains a day will travel to and from Frisco, and boosting the dilapiaded railroads revenu's through the roof, hopefully allowing it to buy new equipment.

Crescent City, Ontario:

Selenian Lines Commission has announced a summer counterpart to the popular winter Snowbird Service ski trains. The new Beachliner Service will run from April to October and will serve the coastal resort towns of Southerland Beach, Crescent City and Aston.

Equipment for the service will be the same all- RDC trains used on the Snowbird Service. Their ski and snowboard racks removed and racks for bicycles installed. SLC officals hope that the new Summer trains will be as popular as their winter runs and bring in a new influx of income to the Crescent City line.

Selene, Ontario:

Selenian Lines Commission has announced an ambitious expansion program in line with the hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games. Seven new depots are being built throughout the Selenian Islands, including a large 6 platform station serving the Olympic Village and Queen Elizabeth II Stadium.

Up To 12 new GE P-40s will be added to the roster, joining the reciently aquired F7m locomotives bought from AMT in Montréal. Plans for the retirement of the fleet of F40 locomotives have been delayed until after the games and SLC is in negotiations with GO Transit in Toronto to lease several trainsets for overflow use. New coaches and CCUs will be purchased from Bombardier of Quebéc and Xang Heavy Industries of China.

In addition to the new equipment, current first-generation equipment is being put through a substantial rebuilding program. Existing F7, RS-3 and RDC equipment will be fully refurbished in time for the games.

How about this

For years, scientists have pondered just what would happen if someone dropped off the end of the world. Perhaps they got their answer the other day as the local Amtrak crashed into some grain cars that were being loaded at the old Redwing grain mill found at the very edge of the known world. It seems the turn out was not switched back to the main line.
As the mill workers watched in horror, the Amtrak engine and one of the grain hoppers, fell into oblivion. Some of the witnesses say they heard a faint crash and something that sounded like a yell coming from the sky. “It was like the voice of God crying out for the lost soles, I never heard anything like it” said Bill Redwing, the Supervisor on duty at the time of the crash.
Then, something strange happened. Just as the families of the lost Amtrak staff were to be notified, the Amtrak engine re-appeared and all those inside were fine. When interviewed, Tom ‘Lucky’ Buck, the engineer of the Amtrak said “Everything was a blur, then, I could have sworn we hit something far below and I heard a strange voice, first it sounded like it was crying and then it sounded like it was relieved. The next thing I knew I was back on the tracks”
Scientists were excited to hear about this occurrence but they have their doubts about its validity. “We have been throwing things off the edge for years and nothing has ever come back” said one leading scientist. “This whole thing about that voice sounds fishy to me”, said another. The only evidence is that the grain hopper never returned and one ladder from the back of the engine is missing. About 20 grain mill workers and all the Amtrak passengers are telling the same story.

Urgent News!
CN train on the westbound track derailed!
The train ( A passenger) Was luckily not very full, and no one was injured although the CN Engine had derailed down into deadmans ditch. ( which is really more like a dead drop!) And clean up crews report that the CN Engine is a lost cost, and their going to leave it where it lies for mother nature to claim!
( Just to tell you people that are thinking I'm crazy to do this to an engine, don't Panic! It never worked anyway! I saved the broken engine as it was about to be thrown out![:0])

Shasta Central Railroad Orders New Locomotive

On Monday, March 28, 1957, the Shasta Central Railroad president Matthew Johnson ordered the railroad's first new diesel locomotive from Baldwin Locomotive works in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania for a total cost of $45,995. The locomotive should be ready by May and be delivered around early June via the Southern Pacific Railroad junction at the west end of town. "We were all very pleased with the information we recieved", said Johnson, "hopefully it will arrrive in one piece!".
This is the biggest news that has hit the railroad since the flood of Eagle Creek last winter that washed out the bridge. One engineer comments," I can't wait to try that bad boy out!". On the other hand one of the railroad's most famous engineers, Stanly Highton says, "This is ruining our sense of pride. We are one of the few railroads in northern California to still run steam on our mainline, but now that will be all gone once this ****** new contraption arrives!"
Overall, everyone is pleased that the railroad is moving forward and not staying stuck in the past. Funding was finally granted by the state of California paying for the majority of the cost. Now all anyone can do is sit and wait for the arrival of the new locomotive.

G&A blast Microsoft for faulty equipment program

GreatLakes and Atlantic railroad has blasted software company Microsoft for computer problems of their SD70ACE fleet. Apparently locomotive crews trying to use the computer consol encounters computer problems such as lag which causes the locomotive to move slow, missing files which makes the locomotive do nothing sometimes and sometimes the consol show that an illegal operation has been performed and will shut down which causes the locomotive and the rest of the train to go into emergency.

Microsoft responded by saying they need to defrag more often and some units will need reformating. They concluded that a patch would be finnished soon and could be downloaded into the consol with instructions using Adobe.

Chairman and CEO Andrew Little told Microsoft what they could do with the patch and has filed a joint lawsuit with EMD against the software company.

Experimental Locomotive designed to alleviate grade crossing accident's hit's donkey cart in the desert town of Los Santos

Late in the afternoon yesterday, the 2-4-2 cabforward owned by the Coyote Gulch and Quahog railroad hit a donkey cart in the desert town of Los Santos. Nobody was injured, but the 80 gallons of illegal whiskey in the cart was lost. The locomotive which began life as a 4-4-0 American type, was built by the Baldwin Locomotive works in 1890 and early last year was pulled from storage at the Foggy Bottom roundhouse, and began the conversion process. The locomotive has only been back in service for a few weeks. And it is unclear at this time if the experiment is going to continue, or if the locomotive is going to be sent to the scrap heap.

Great Lakes and Atlantic releases First Quarter

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Little released numbers showing that indeed the railroad has met its forecast and will grow profit by second quarter.

The G&A has had plans to exceed it but with increased fuel costs and the New York/ Philadelphia project underway, Mr. Little said he didn't want to risk making a promise he couldn't keep to his investors.

The Museum's Gas-electric "Doodlebug" will shortly enter service. The engine has been overhauled and is running well, work is continuing on the control system. This will provide a smaller passenger train for quieter runs, rather than using one of our Bilevel push-pull sets which often have only half the seats filled. The single-cab nature of the railcar is causing some operational headaches however - there are no turning facilities and we are seriously considering stationing a spare loco at the far end of the line to haul it back, or possibly building a driving trailer to provide another cab.

The Alberta Pacific as of november 12th, 2004 has put in an order for 80 SD70ACes and 130 SD70M-2s. The SD70ACes are expected to push some of the APRs SD50s out of unit oil train service. The SD70M-2s are expected to push SD45s out of intermodal service in the west, and the GP40-2s in the East

As of june 30, 1993, the alberta Pacific has said it will sell or scrap most of it's 140 SDL39s, and some of it's GP38ACs and -2s. The reason for this change is an imaginative idea by CEO Matthew Hicks. They are converting most of their old branchlines to roadways, where trucks pulling roadrailer style trinity grain cars will run. The APR hopes this will be a profitable venture.

On the Yarrow Valley Sub today the C.E.O. decided that she want's to re-locate the head office to another town. the transfer would include widespread disruption and total loss of all services for several month's to come, this is bad news for the railroad who have just placed an order for an NW2 switcher and an M1A 4-8-2 Mountain to haul coal traffic from a re-opened mine, evaluation for this class of loco will have to be done on another local railroad's short line. The construction staff who are building the new Steel Supply Co have stopped work as a result of rumors of impending closure.

The Westbank, Algiers, and Lower Coast Railway (WALC) consortium has announced the addition of a worktable and modeling area to be built next to the train room area. The budget committee was granted the go ahead from the CFO for allocating funds for the future expansion. The design and construction department have already started drawing plans for construction and are slated to begin following the laying of ceramic tile and wall paint applications that are scheduled for completion by Feb. 19th. The CEO was quoted as saying, “ It is great to have the support from all team members in getting this phase of the project started. Our organization is committed to providing the best possible rail service to Walnut Bend and the Lower Coast region”.

On the Yarrow Valley Sub of the BN a youth has gotten into the hot seat and drove a works train off while it was on a photo shoot on a girder bridge, the big hook got it's load stuck and then fell a long way to the floor, mr plastic man lost some paint but later returned to his post. the youth was sent in to his mum

The Great Lakes and Atlantic Railroad has announced that it will be building a double track mainline from Syracuse NY to Binghampton NY and then to New York City and Philadelphia.

This project is in response to the large intermodal traffic from Australia which arrives at Philadelphia and the large amount of intermodal traffic potential between New York and Toronto, Detroit and mainly Chicago.

The project calls for an intermodal terminal/ yard located in both cities. A new domestic partnership between the Great Lakes and Atlantic and the BNSF will commence immediately after using an upgraded DTE (Domestic Transit Express) containers 53 feet dry or reefer. In addition to this, the GA and BNSF railroads have addressed issues with in terminal time and so BNSF will be using the GA Clearing Yard (former Belt Line of Chicago) for staging of the new intermodal services.

Junctionfan - There's currently a single-track line from Syracuse to Binghamton... NYS&W aka 'Susie Q' They do on ocassion run intermodal from here to Binghamton and interchange there w/ CN and NS and w/ CSX here in Syracuse. NYS&W also serves a few 'on-line' companies between the south side of Syracuse (Catapillar Dealer) and the suburb of Jamesville (Hanson Quarry - yes; some lumber company - I think). Plus they run a excursion (sp?) during the spring for the Marathon (NY) Maple Fest and a few other special events.

The ceremony will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Monday, Jan 24, 2005 at the WALC corporate offices. A reception is to follow after with local city and state officials, and the public is invited to attend. Representatives from the Kansas City Southern, Southern and Norfolk Southern organizations will be on hand after the ceremony to present their plans for linking service to Walnut Bend from Algiers, Plaquemines, and New Orleans.
