Here it is. Another Sunday of fun filled modeling and adventure! All scales from Z to prototype are encouraged to post. If you have pics, then let's see 'em. If not, then tell us what you've been doing.
I had to replace a flouresent light fixure in my train room this weekend. I spent twice the amount I usually do for a fixture. It's a T-8 type fixture that uses the thinner flourescent tubes. I hope this one lasts longer than the "shop light" fixtures that I've been using.
I picked up one of my P2K GP-38-2's from my local pusher Friday. It's decorated for the ROCK. It looks SWEET! I installed a Digitrax DH163D decoder in it. The DH-163D uses a harness with wires instead of a plug. With this set up I was able to wire the numberboards so they can be turned on or off independently. P2K seems to be changing their DCC plug configuration around a little. So, I like using the DH163D because I wire everything myself.
I also picked up two of the new Woodland Scenics figure sets. I bought the "people and Racoons" set and the "Horseshoe Game" set. WS is really doing a marvelous job.
Well, enough rambling from me. What have you been doing?

I also did some much needed wiring maintenance on the layout.

I've finished developing my railroad's history, route, and customers and can now actually start trackplanning. I even went about coming up with historic paint schemes in addition to my modern look.



SD40-2 #4201, the second such unit ordered by the Allegheny Mercer and Lake Erie



AC4400CW #4400, the first GE built unit ever ordered by the AM&LE, ending a decades long feud between the two companies



SD9 #962 retained for static display

Good stuff from everyone. this past week i haven't had much time. benchwork is done and track is in progress but the real world has kept me out of the train room. the last thing i was working on was adding a couple details to a spectrum 2-8-0 here is a photo



it has changed, the air tanks moved, etc. Keep up the good work all.

Here are a couple of pictures of the diorama I just completed. The first one is just an overview of the diorama. After all the agonizing I did over the small culvert/trestle you can't even see it in the photo. [:(]



The second one has my first attempts at painting and lettering cars. I think I'm getting too old to try and accurately place dry transfer letters. You can see the letters are none too even. I didn't even try to do anything with dimensional data. A good heavy weathering effort ought to cover it up pretty good. But this is what I wanted the diorama for, to have a place to photograph cars.



It's H(orribly) O(versized) ballast. Yeah I know the grains are too big for N. I wanted to be able to see something grainy without using my optivisor. [8D] In these photos you can easily see that it's code 80 rail. In real life it doesn't jump out at me as much. I tried painting a test section of rail to make it less obvious but decided to leave well enough alone at this time. Maybe later.

The diorama also served as a test for my first try at using foam as a base material, and at using ground foam as ground cover. It basically has the look I was trying for, so I'm happy. I'm still looking for a suitable weed around here to use for trees.

Anyway, now that the diorama is done, on to the layout.

I just threw this together last night. This will become my fourth layout. I am still working on
my 10' x 12', but it will have to wait for cooler weather. It is outside in my shed. And even with
AC it's to hot to get much done. So last night I decided to start an inside layout in the spare
room (10' x 10'). The layout size is 10' x 8' around the walls. It is 24" wide and 48" high. It
will be nice to see the trains running at near eye level for a change.

I am debating whether or not to buy some N scale equipment and try out a new scale.
Chances are I'll stick with HO since I have quiet a bit of equipment already. This will mean I
will only need to buy track and scenery products for this layout. Dave

Oh man, I wish I wasn't in school and was at my dad's house. Then I would show pictures of progress. Instead, I have to be at my moms and slave over honors and AP homework. I need to do some scenery contouring, then I need to paint and cover the layout with ground foam. That will be the big difference photo. Dream on...

WOW is right Glennbob. This is from a last year. It's weird seeing what my layout
looked like a year ago. And Aggro, you've come along way also. I going to have
to take a full layout shot and post it to show what's been done. It's not as much as
planned but it's coming along. Dave
