model train shops in Houston
Posted by johnvv on Friday, June 8, 2012 6:24 PM

Hi

I am in Houston for a day and have had trouble finding a list of model railroad shops that are still open.  Can someone suggest some shops to visit?

regards

John

Papa Ben's Train Store all trains all the time.  Really nice Club layout with a terrifically scenicked portion  out in main store room where you can see it even when no club members open up.  Operating multi-scale test and demo layout.  N  HO  every magazine you can think of, books, video.  I don';t remember for sure about O scale or G...  Large mural of Houston Union mStation back then with all the trains that ran back then, professionally painted.  Cookie tray usually out.  Table with craft and fashion magazines where wife can sit while you shop.

G & G Hobbies, a long time favorite, 30, 40 years or more in the Village near Rice University. N  HO  kits  parts   difficult parking.  Waqrning, fabric store next door is a place to keep a wife occupied while you shop trains, but very expensive.

Hi tuxedoj and leighant

Thank you for your quick replies.  I will have a chance to visit both of them as they are not too far from my hotel.

regards, John
