A couple of TOFC's in an EB through freight. DJ.
The fellows up at the Gold Prince in Animas Forks needed a truck for maintenance work and the occasional load that won't fit in a tram bucket going up to the mine. If you've ever driven up California Gulch in a 4x4, you know what a challenge it can be.
An Oshkosh 6x6 was purchased fully reconditioned. Looks like a dump bed, but it's not. There's a wood floor to help cushion machinery and heavy metal parts, which is what it was bought for. The truck is equipped with a 24K PTO winch to help with tramway maintenance and the "situations" that sometimes arise when you're traveling this far off the beaten path. A FM radio set to the Red Mountain Rescue team freq was added when it reached Animas Forks after arriving in Silverton on the Rio Grande train from Durango.
The shop crew threw some bottled gas and welding gear aboard. The foreman says the only thing it needs is a crane to help load and unload it. The boss says he's looking into that.
[The kit is a Sheepscot Scale Products #95114 Oshkosh 4x4 kit I ordered with tandem rear drives to make it a 6x6. It was a fun build, along with my Sheepscot Bucyrus-Erie 15-B diesel crawler crane.]

Some foreign power was rolled DIT through my area, on its way to delivery. This is an HO BLI GE-AC6000 in BHP Iron Ore #6071 Australian scheme. It's stock, & needs toning in the grills & other areas.

Finished installing all the turnouts and Bullfrogs on the Free-moN staging yard, wired everything up, and so it was time, of course, to run some trains:

Because I made both ends of the two yard sections Free-moN standard endplates, I'm able to split the yard into two stub-end yards.Attaching an extension on both ends allows for a runaround.Just need to install a turntable and the machine shop, and it'll be time to paint, ballast & scenic.Happy weekend, all!

Great Pics guys, I have been weathering track the last few days.
Here are some recently finished freight cars!Here is a Branchline #1100 Double Door Boxcar kit built with the Despatch Roof and Ends to replicate NYC Lot 884B which was repainted to PC Green and lettered with Microscale Decals to show a repainted PC Car.This is a CB&T 40' Boxcar Kit, with added detail, painted Dark Green and lettered with Highball Graphics decals. This car could be seen all around the country as the North Stratford Railroad was funded by the State of New Hampshire as an old B&M Branchline that serviced the Ethan Allen Plant in Bellow Falls, NH. (Although most of the railroad was in Vermont).Another PC Repaint of an ACF 3500CF Covered Hopper from the PRR, Class H44. Car was lettered with Highball Graphics Decals.Thanks for looking,

Lubiners loading with head lights, tail lights, interior light and trunk light.
I will have to repaint the roof to eliminate the dome light showing through, and I will have to figure out how to tone down the brightness of the trunk light and dome light. A coat or two of yellow paint shoud work.
I still have not quite figured out how to run multiple LEDs with one resistor but I have been experimenting. In this case all six LEDs have their own resistors so the wiring bundle is a bit clumsey.
I have to tell you that I was in a panic when trying to wire all of these LEDs. I thought that I had messed up badly because the LEDs would not light consistently when I applied power. Eventually they wouldn't light at all. I had visions of having to pull them all out and start over again. THEN, my wee brain actually kicked in and I told myself that I couldn't have wired that many LEDs that badly so there must be another cause!
So, I gave each alligator clamp on my power supply a pull and of course the negative lead came off in my hand. DUH! Fixed the lead and voila! All the LEDs worked!!! WHEW!!
I have actually had a couple of episodes where the test power supply leads were the culprit. I will have to figure out how to make them more reliable.

the switch stands are part of the Central Valley turnout kit and operate with the throw of the point blades by means of a small crank. They're a bit fiddly to get working properly. The turnout itself will be operated by an undertrack motor similar to a Tortoise
My little tribute to the folks at the George's Creek Railway, who recently restored these two Western Maryland 6-axle brutes and brought them home to Cumberland last weekend. I can't wait to get out there to see them in the flesh.

How does it work on the top side? As it is now getting warmer, does modelling increase or is it when it gets colder you tend to stay indoors more and model more?
