Just an Ice coffee and some Raisin toast this morning. I seem to be carrying a spare tire around my waist all of a sudden?? Must be my winter coat.
Morning all from the wide brown land. Just got back from gas bagging with the physio while she inflicts her version of torture on me. She says to keep of the stairs and keep up the hydo therapy training down at the pools 4 times a week. It has been a bit of a pain to keep this schedule recently due to a cloud following me around.Bl**dy rain.
Saying that, I can't complain too much considering the posts I have read recently. I wish to share some recovery vibes with all that need it. I would be happy to exchange a little of my health to help battle any other illness others may be enduring.
As for those fires. Hope some rain is on its way. Respect to everyone doing the best they can to combat such a huge threat.
Hoping to get started on painting my RS3 today. I found the 1/4 inch coupling that I needed for the air brush, so off I go to the cold dreary shed to make some progress hopefully.
Oh and Happy birthday to all that put another year on their existence. Best wishes and good health for another to come.
Cheers...

Hi al I got up to get a pill, and thought I'd pop on.
KEN- There will be a special Prayer candle tomorrow and the weekend for you!
ALSO- Prayer candles for the others here who need them, can't remember who now, but you know who you are!
Any greetings to others also extended!

Spent all afternoon and evening out at Boy Scout Camp. Ate dinner out there which consisted of some kind of warmed up nuggets of something or other.... somebody mentioned chicken, but it didn't look like any chicken I have ever seen and tasted more like greasy bread crumbs with BBQ sauce. They still do have a good salad bar, so I filled up on salad and some fruit cocktail they had on the salad bar. Reminded me why I no longer stay out there for most of the Summer these days. LOL
I got one campsite finished and another started today. The second one has a woodchuck that has made his home under the concrete foundation of the latrine. He came up and just looked at me while I was taking a break, so i just sat and stared back at him..... Also saw several deer including a couple of the beautiful white deer at the old Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, NY on the way home after the District committee Meeting tonight. http://www.stayfingerlakes.com/attractions/wildlife/deerwhite.php I have seen herds of 20 to 30 of them near the fence of the Depot Property in the Fall of the year.
Ken.......... Prayers to you for a good outcome with all of this. Not much more I can say I guess, but do know we are all thinking good thoughts for you!
Later!

Again Ken, good luck we are all pulling for you and will be looking forward to your return. With any luck it will be a brief stay in hospital.
Well tomorrow is going to be gross out as there calling for temps in the high 80's but feeling more in the low 100's, yuck. My grass had hardly grown at all well, what grass I have that is. I was going to cut it but I think I will leave it for another week as it is somewhat green and I know if I cut it its going to be yellow by the end of the weekend. I dont have to go out tomorrow so It will be watering the plants and flowers first thing ( like 5 or 6am ) and then any other running around will be done in the morning. I was thinking about going to the hobby shop to have a look around but doing that gets me in trouble as I come out with something I probably dont need plus Im broke at the moment . I have a bunch of stuff I can do on the layout from weathering freight cars ( I love a really dirt freight car ) to scenery so like the old adage " there is always something to do on a model railroad" so that will be tomorrow. I have enough scenery materials to build a small layout and enough paints and AIM powders to weather 500 freight cars, lol My workbench looks like a craft store with all the paints on it at the moment. Hope all you fellas stay safe.
Calling it a night early. Just changed the dressing on my foot and took my night meds. About to take my 100 unit insulin shot. I cleaned up the weathering on the Bachmann Niagara. It still runs good. Would run great if I cleaned the wheels and pickups. The pickups have some of that weathering powder on them. Tossed a Norscot bulldozer into the alcohol today just to see what it will do. So far it hasn't even fazed it. See y'all tomorrow.

Still in Cincinnati area. Spent some time today watching trains crossing the bridge into Covington, KY from Cincinnati. It's a busy bridge...... Meanwhile my thoughts keep reminding me of the averted tragedy last Friday. Glad everything is okay now.
Flip ... Happy Birthday.
Rob ... Very sorry to learn your other brother also has heart disease. Prayers for both. Take care of yourself, too.
Terry .. I've not seen you here lately. Good to see you.

I see a lot of great photos being posted here. Keep it up.
jeffrey-wimberly Ken: Your news was a little surprising but not unexpected. Remember, I've been on the same road for years. I walked around with a hole in the bottom of my left big toe for five years and I still have the toe, bone and all. I just kept it wrapped and clean. On the right foot, that's a different story. Still have all the toes but I lost three of the bones between the ankle and the toes to a bone infection. But that took years to happen. My right foot had open sores since before 2005 and the bone infection set in back in October of 2009. I had already lost the use of the foot as a support device a couple of years before. You need to get ahead of your diabetes now or your going to be in the same position I'm in. Sorry for putting it that way but there's no way to sugar coat it.

Boy Jeffery you have a way with words!
At this point I am at peaces with what is going on, Thursday could be a different story.
To be honest, I was stunned when I was told I needed to be admitted to a point. But like Jeffery not totaled surprised. I was thinking they would refill my med's or give me new ones and set me up to have the toe cleaned out of dead skin.
Well the trains are running great, Frankenstein Dash 9 is pulling like a PO mule. It is dragging 37 cars right now. Running the new Proto F3's (never did speed match them) in Monon colors and they are speed demons! All so playing some jazz, that will put me in a good mood.
I will miss the dinner more than you think. Folks here are my friends and my sounding board.
Well time for my last supper so to speak. Hope I get to drop by Thursday. My daughter does not want to get caught up in traffic so she is coming by at 12:00 to pick me up.
Be tire to your feet or they will be falling off of you!

Evening All,
Just finished supper and drinking a cup of coffee. Did the things I needed to today then just goofed off since I had no motivation to do anything. Tomorrow I need to go pay a medical bill and see the Chiropractor. Other than that not much planned.
Terry- I grew up in El Paso when my Dad was stationed at Ft. Bliss (Air Defense). Lived there from 1960-1969 before we were transferred to Germany. I will continue to say prayers for your son's safety.
Rob- Glad your eyes are doing good and I hope your brother continues to improve.
Ken- I don't know what to say. Please do what the doc's want and get better. I will be saying prayers for you. As others have said, if you need anything just ask.
Hope everyone has a good night and Prayers for those in need.

Sorry 'bout that ,Ken!!
Hi all,
Went on the 1st Annual Joe-Daddy MC poker run last Saturday. It's for a close buddy of mine that died in October of cancer. I and 2 other "brothers" set it up. It was great, although the weather was cloudy.
PFC Son is in Ft. Bliss, Texas learning how to be a Stryker driver in a brigade with the 1st Armoured.. Already got a nickname of Obi-wan( last name is O'Brien and he's older than all the other troops in his platoon.) Squad Leader named his truck the Millineum Falcon! LOL !! He'll be there til August ,then Ft. Irwin for desert training in prep for " overseas deployment". He'll have a company of SF attached to hiscompany. Evidently there is a "reason" they will be working together. He's Airborne, so when he got sent to Bliss I asked him if he'd be jumping off tanks! LOL! I kinda figured this was gonna happen when he told me he was going to Ft. Bliss w/ 2 other guys from his old outfit. It is what it is.
Got 3 Geeps back from my buddy who installs decoders for me, they're sweet runners! He MU'ed and speed matched them.
We've received over 7" rain in last week and a half, wish I could send it Darren's way!
Prayers for those that need'm!

Good evening all:
Rob, thoughts with your brother’s situation. That’s good news on the eyes!
Happy Birthday Flip!!!
Coffee in a SULTRY SOUTHERN mug, please.
***Flip, "Happy Birthday"
***Todd, YOU are a funny man!
Prayers going out to all the people and their animals in CO. YIKES!
Some excellent RR photos being posted here in the DIner.
BIG news, (for me). Not only did the eye Doc not find any active sarcoidosis in my eyes this time, but all the old lesions were nowhere to be found. Completely gone! Still have all the annoying floaters, but perhaps those will fade in time.
Have a nice evening all.
Cheers! Rob
Thanks to all for your concern about Debbie. Todays six week checkup went great. The dr. wants her to keep using the back brace and come back again in six weeks.
A big Thankyou for all the Happy Birthday greetings. Makes this geezer feel good.
Belated Welcome to our cousins "Down Under". I remember seeing a tv show about the longest straight rr line in the world. 2300 plus miles, east to west in 'ROO land.
Prayers and Blessings for all .
Afternoon Folks,
Flo, Beer Pleases.
Vince's you will be getting a PM shortly.
V A Hospital Visit. Sure not the new's I was hoping for. I won't be in the dinner for sometime after Thursday. I am going to admitted Thursday. They want to today but I had to many lose end's to tie up first. While the open sore (Infected site) has healed over, they are worried that the infection may have gotten to the bone. If that is the case, I will lose the toe and maybe the foot.
Seems my Diabetes is out of control, my blood sugar was 235 today. I have to admit up till the toe went south being diabetic only meant I had to take some pills. Up till today I felt indestructible Boy I hope that is the right word or Todd will be LOL), now I feel like the mortal I am.
I have no idea what we will do for money. I have 1 sick day left and that will be used up Thursday when I go in to the hospital. Going to have to call Bank Of Stupid Thursday morning and see what I have to sign so my Daughter can act on my behalf. Plus I will have to show her how to uses my pay card and do a draft. Depending on how long I cannot work, this maybe the straw that broke the camels back on keeping the house!
If the V A Hospital has a computer I can use I will stay in touch. Heck, I don't even know if they have TV's or phones in the room's. Guess I will be finding out.
Today as I was walking the halls I was looking at the other old over weight men and women there with me. It was hard to believe at one time we where young fit solders that defended and fought for our country. I used to run 5 miles everyday, now I don't think I could do it in a month!
I have not told Sue yet. She was out today with a friend of hers and she is tired. Might wait till the morning so she gets a good night sleep. She will not take it well.
Going to run the trains, wonder what the track will be like when I get home again?
Afternoon guys
Been painting the group of metal wheelsets I have that are unpainted. I ordered 3 new cabs and inserts for use on my GP5. I may tackle a few more chop noses with the other cabs (maybe a chop-nosed SD7 or SD9.
Ken, I was fully anticipating those stewart DRGW F9s, but wound up with the F3s instead. There aren't any prototypes on the BN that match the P1K F3 so they are trade fodder to me. I might just list them on ebay to get them out of here. I wish I could run my trains, but I have no room for a layout.
Flip, Happy birthday.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
howmus Jeffrey, interesting that your diet is basically the opposite of the foods my dietician for diabetes wants me to be on. Mine is to have only whole grain breads in moderation , fresh fruit and vegetables, and to avoid processed foods as much as possible. If I follow all the diet recommendations from every doctor I see I would starve to death in about 3 months....... LOL! I am allow3d a small dish of ice cream for desert as I like however.... Still has to add up on the grams of carbos allowed. I was able to control my blood sugar with THAT diet for close to 15 years before going on the pills I now take. I do know that the same foods react differently with different people..... I was bad last night at the picnic (potato salad, macaroni salad, pasta salad, and chocolate cake.......) and was surprised my blood sugar was only 147 last night before bed. This morning it was 97 which is where I like to see it!

Welm, All outside errands are run for today: the grocery shopping, the banking, the getting of some scripts, {not all are ready}, and getting two or three hairs cut {that's about as many as I got left.}
So now dashing off some checks and my whole check will be *poof* gone! Ususally there's some left, but NOT TODAY!!!
GOod thing MOH has a good check coming this week!
WEll, we were going to take a train nut friend of ours for our "tour" this weekend of:
http://www.arcadeandatticarr.com/index.php3 But they are having a garage sale and his wife is being picky,,,she wants him there for the garage sale BOTH Sat. and Sunday. CAN you IMAGINE THAT??? SHe WON'T let him go for TRAINS????? I am so fortunate MOH is into trains as welll!!!!!!!
Well, off to write checks so they can get out in the mail before he comes !!
later!
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe just another refil for the dark roast coffee, please and thank you!
Currently 73°F outside the door here in the Finger Lakes Region with a predicted high in the upper 70's this afternoon. Partly cloudy with a bit of wind as well, so it is a pleasant day here.
I forget who asked about the hoops for the Water Tower on the Powerhouse, but the ones I need to make are the solid round braces, not the flat ones. Flat ones would be easier I think as I could just use some small styrene strips for it. I will probably end up using heavy thread for it.
I will be spending most all day out at Boy Scout Camp again today. Still have a lot of campsites to get done by the end of the week, and have a District Committee meeting out there tonight. Guess I will be getting my yearly fill of camp cuisine for supper..... Not exactly what I generally consider to be edible I might add....
Oh! Happy Birthday Flip!!!
Next week I may actually be able to get back down cellar to do some modeling! I hope!
Catch you all later.
Good Morning,
Flip, Happy Birthday!!
Seems like there is a lot of hot weather to the south of us and Johnboy, don't send yours our way. I know you like to share but not this time.
Darrin, Certainly is terrible what all those fires are doing. We often have a fire problem in northern Manitoba but it is very sparsly inhabited. The water bombers used here are based in Gimli on Lake Winnipeg where I used to keep my sailboat. Amazing sight watching them practice. They are old ones with radial engines and what a glorious sound they make when powering into a climb after picking up water.
Well must 'get ready' as friends are taking us out for lunch. They are moving next month to Edmonton and will be missed. Why anyone would want to retire to Edmonton is beyond me but they have a son there and a new grandson. Having lived here all their lives I think they'll miss their many friends.
CN Charlie
Morning!
Flo, Coffee pleases
Getting a late start today, hope the VA is not that busy. Had to wash Sues car this morning. She is going over to a friends and wanted the car cleaner. When I used to get to drive it, I would wash it once's a month or so. I have not used it daily now for a year now and it was nasty.
Well, I better stop wasting time staring at the trains!
By the way, to all
Latter, Ken
Darren, I had to look at a map before I realized that this isn't just one fire. The one we've been hearing about is the Fort Collins fire, but this one in Colorado Springs is just in the news here for the first time. Take care.
Cloudy with some showers here in New England once again. We're supposed to get brutally hot again over the weekend. Both are what I consider to be "good modeling weather," since I can turn on the AC in the train room and paint in the garage if I have to.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Morning All,
Only rained about 20 minutes yesterday, of course it was when I was driving to w**k. It's drizzling here now. I can't wait until Saturday. The NWS forecast is HOT- no kidding, that's the forecast. Today I am doing laundry and need to vacuum.
Phil- Happy Birthday. Hope Deb has a good follow up appointment with her doc.
Barry- Best wishes for your treatment today.
MonkeyBucket- You have a nice looking son there.
Jeff- Sorry to hear about your Dad.
Everyone have a good day.
