A shot of two AS&N SD40-2's

This shot is worth a thousand words [;)] (click to enlarge):

DISCLAIMER: The AS&N is/was my HO layout and does not exist on the prototype, it was never taken over by CN and has nothing to do with it in any way.

You should have merged with some else. If it is not to late, I am the CEO and Chairman of the Greatlakes and Atlantic Railroad.

Nice locos, dougal. My railroad ( Sooner State union lines ) is also open for merger. I would like to try one of those " model railroad mergers "

We could do a 3 way merger and give the class 1s a run for the money.

First off: It's easy to tell I had a lot of extra time when I made that patch job! [:p]

Secondly: Not looking to merge with anyone right now but since the AS&N does operate runthrough trains to Chicago a railroad like the Sooner State Union Lines would be able to get cars from the AS&N, Junctionfan, could you explain more about the Great Lakes & Atlantic?

The Greatlakes and Atlantic a large railroad that was orginally a consolidation of shortlines to compete with the class 1s. The shortlines included the Guilford System (B&M, Maine Centreal, Springfield Terminal), Providence and Worchester, Genessee & Wyoming along with its other railroads, Trillium Railways, Hamilton Railink, Michigan Southern, Ann Arbour, Goderich and Exeter, Chicago Southshore and Southbend, Indiana and Ohio and the Belt Railway of Chicago. This massive group eventully build a mainline from Boston to Chicago, Detroit to Cinncinatti, London Ontario to Toronto Ontario. The most major line is the Boston to Chicago line which involves the old NYC short cut line through Ontario. It runs about 400 trains a day including tourist trains. It serves intermodal service to Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Rochester, Cinncinatti, Toledo, Elkhart, Buffalo, Worchester and Chicago. It does alot of intermodal transfers with UP. Power includes 50 AC4000CW, 200 SD75I and ex Amtrak F40PH for roadrailer service. I plan to build into Montreal and Flint Michigan as well as considering to buy a couple of P42DC for mail service.

We could have the AS&N interchange with the GR&A in Toronto (via trackage rights on CN from Buffalo to Toronto), I haven't thought about the AS&N's Canadian operations but this would speed things up a bit.

Do you operate intermodal services? I wonder if a joint roadrailer between Toronto via the G & A and Philadelphia via the AS&N would work well. I was actually considering purchasing the transportation company Trans X and using this subsidiary to run roadrailer servces.

Right now I operate an intermodal from Chicago to Croxton, NJ (via a freinds railroad), Buffalo to Bethlehem, PA, and Bethlehem to Albany, NY, the Chicago and Buffalo trains swap cars at Binghamton, NY, I have thought in the past about sending some cars to Toronto on a short, Buffalo, to Toronto intermodal.

My Chief Operating Officer and Cheif Financial Officer has advised me to go north. From this that would mean I will wi***o buy the ex CN Newmarket Subdivision and the Ontario Northland railroad. I will working this out but I imagine it will be in ink soon. In doing this though I will have to delay building into Flint Michigan.

Well there goes the joint MW, CaNW and AS&N Super Fast Freight. Now we'll have to partner with NS or CSX (yuck!).

Where do you operate? If we can't merge with each other we could make interesting partnerships and put some of the class 1s in a huff. I would be interested in purchasing 2 or 3 of those new SDs particularly for my Elkhart Sub.

What did I get myself into? [:P][;)]

Like I said, no mergers but I'd be interested in interchanging.

Actually I can't afford to merge right now. I have to cultivate my existing territory first. I don't want the employees to suffer layoffs and hardship. My name isn't Hunter Harrison.

Not too sure right now. I have a symbol already but I believe I will be using ONR Blue with BC Rail Green horizontal stripe all the way across to the front of the locomotive. The back will be BC Rail Green. Below the number of the locomotive is a picture of the U.S and Canadian flags.

I operate alot like juntion fan, a bunch of shortlines merging to compete with the class ones. except on mine, all th lines keep thier seperate identity. several reailroads are ones that became fallen flags long ago, but I have altered history. the railroads are ( some are fictional ) : Kansas City and St. Louis , Midland Valley , Kansas Oklahoma & Gulf , Arkansas-Oklahoma ( AOK ) , Farmrail, AT&L , Rock Island ( portions only ) MKT ( portions ) and parts of the frisco. we have managed to put together a decent mainline from St Louis to Oklahoma City via Kansas City ans Tulsa. trackage right s over BNSF to chicago and Dallas. I model only branch lines of this fictional railroad, but mabey with some darn good planning, I can model a full mainline.

Some of the railroads on my system keep their identity but get better locomotives like the Utah Railway which was part of the Genesse & Wyoming purchase. I replaced their SD40-2s with AC4400CWs for their coal runs.
