After nearly thirty years of producing excellent video productions related to our hobby, Allen Keller recently announced that he is (to at least a certain extent) retiring. I would really enjoy seeing MR feature this former Kalmbach video producer in one of its upcoming issues. What do you think? DFD26
Not an interview, but MR had an article by him about his model railroad in the November, 2002, issue.
A feature in MR would be fitting. Also, it would be nice if the Great American Layout DVDs we've been recieving included some form of retrospective from Keller. A segment in which he reflected on his visits to each of the layouts featured would be a nice addition to the series. A "where are they now?" type segment would be neat too.

That's an excellent idea! The old MR video layout tours from the early 80's really got me back into model railroading. The folks Allen interviewed (Malcom, Bruce Chub, Earl Smallshaw, etc.) got me thinking about what they are doing today. Allen was an excellent choice for MR as their video spokesman. Fortunately, his work will be preserved for several more generations of enthusiasts.
I couldn't agree more. I recently acquired one the "Great American Layout" DVDs. It was great to see that his basic format of interviewing the modeler while showing the trains run stayed the same - now with the additional segment on "how to" added! With all the great modelers Keller interviewed over the years, it would be fun to hear his own perspectives on his work in our hobby.
Those four MR video tours were great. I still have copies. MR should offer them as a downloadable digital purchase.

Roger that!
This is the first I heard that news. Is anyone going to fill the void?
