Good Morning Modelers!
It's 30F and Partly Cloudy here and once again they are talking about another storm passing through here on Tuesday. AT least we got some melting which mostly got the ruts cleared on the side streets. Time for a quick bite and some coffee before starting my 12+ day work week; YUK! Big IT upgrade project this weekend so it's going to be a long week before my next weekend off. It's a paycheck...

Good Morning All,
34F and clear this morning with the trend towards warming. Hope to get the trailer brakes finished today and then on to the next rodeo.
Lion, I have seen a couple of slide shows at the museum about the LIRR mostly out on the island itself. I know they were a subsidiary of the PRR so likely had a lot of their equipment . If you need I can find out more. The only stuff I actually remember are the FM C-liners and of course they used the ex NH FA for a control car in pushme/pullu mode.
Todd - discretion - the better part of valor. I was doing drywall stuff yesterday when the CFO decided it was time to vacuum right where I was sanding. Just waited until it was clear and went back to it then cleaned up later. Jeff will just have to take our word for it - he doesn't know what he's missing
Between chores and the shop I didn't really get any mrr stuff done though I did pick at the viaduct I'm building. The Gorilla Glue seems to have done the job bonding the bare rail to the bridge ties though one joint is slightly out of line and I'll need to redo that or file it if it sets close enough.
Catch Y'all later. J.R.
Good morning, Chloe. This was a lazy weekend. A coffee, please, and off to work.
Saturday I went to a play in Seattle with a friend. When I got home, Larry had Valentine's Day flowers for me.
His backdrop clinic is on Friday. He and another guy from our MR group are painting a scene on another friend's layout. It should be fun.

Good Morning!! Coffee and the Brakeman’s Special please. Over medium on the eggs thank you. Snow, mainly after noon. High near 33. South wind between 9 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Another 1-2” possible over night. Now the local yokels are calling for between 2 and 4. We’ll see. Actually, around here it is hard to determine just how much snow you got what with the blowing and drifting, you can measure between a light dusting and 12 inches from the same snowfall. Thanks guys for filling me in on what happened. Silly stuff goes on don’t it. Speaking of that. As you saw, the post I made earlier really makes no sense. Well I made a remark that, though not bad, under the circumstances served no purpose but could cause another unwanted argument or comment so, instead of asking for the post to be deleted, I just took the fastest route and edited it to it’s usual head scratching sameness as all my posts.

Floor Wars Williamsville: Phase….I lost track - All I have to do is grout the heavy traffic area of the floor. The path to both the garage and the basement. These are the designated smoking areas so I need to do them when the wife isn’t home so she can get to and from. She is not necessarily the whole problem, though she does have a tendency to wait until it is very inconvenient to need to be right were you are. Like she just waits for that time to come. Odd. Anyway, the dog likes to be where she is, and that means dog toenails in the grout. Anyway, I will be done today and then that means…..Master Bathroom here I come. Well, I was reminded I was to get her car running before I started on the kitchen floor. Must have forgot.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Near a cornfield in Indiana...
Hello folks, been a week or two since I last stopped by. Been very busy lately.
I managed to stop by the LHS last friday and I picked up a few things, namely some WS clump foliage to make more trees with the 50 odd tree kit I got as well. I also picked up a ' Barbs bungalow ' kit and a DPM kit. I managed to build around 10 trees so far. I figure with these 50 odd to go I should have enough trees on my layout, save for a couple more pines possibly on the foot hill in below photo :
Here you can see a new addition to the layout, namely the blue backdrop. It serves two purposes...
1) you may notice behind there is a door. that is the main entry from the backyard thru the house to the front. The laundry is adjacent to that so is pretty high traffic. A few poor trees have disappeared caught in clothing as they brush by. This prevents that and also
2) serves as a better backdrop than the white bricks.
It is just a sheet of clear perspex which I got for free from the sign writer next door, that I painted with a blue spray can. I didn't bother removing the thick paper backing so the paint stuck better. I painted the other side tan so it blends better. The next step on the layout is probably fascias as I want to use the last of the tan paint, and it will also mean being able to install my DCC throttle properly.
I still only have one DCC loco at the moment, a FVM Gevo, I did have an SD40-2 but I fried the decoder... doh.
Apologies for the long post...
Cheers,

Time for me to call it a night. Low tonight will be 34, a bit warmer than last night. However it's looking like there'll be a 70% chance of rain in the morning. Another wet day in paradise. See y'all tomorrow.

Goodnight.

aw, nuts. I can't remember more than that...I never did get much beyond age 17 and the third level of "scout"...I had to camp out one winter and nearly froze to death...The temps that weekend were in the single digits....so I decided that was not for me...That about ended my career in scouting...my mother said to my father "if you want to kill him lets just take him out and shoot him..." Nad remember my knots? NOT.
Todd: I thought so. It could have been 'waterfall' for all I know
TMarsh Jeff- AH! I see what you've done. Myself, I was thinking of using a completely different circuit to start. Basically running a hot wire to the starter relay and push button to start. What you've done is just run a block and switched power to the original circuit when you want it and you still use the key to start, yes?

Toasted Ham and Cheese and a cup of decaf please... Thank you Chloe!
Didn't get in here this morning as I was running late to dig out and get to church on time. Had to be there today, my #1 granddaughter was singing in the children's choir during the anthem today! After she got done she came over to sit with her parents, but climbed over and gave "Papa" (me) a big hug first.... She was very proud of herself!
We got a total of 2 + inches of light and fluffy overnight and it is still flurrying off and on. I will likely fire up the gas burner and make an attempt to clean the driveway before heading over to my son's house for dinner tonight. It will blow right back in while I'm gone.......
Todd, your humor and mine are very much of the same variety!
Have a great day all!

Todd: So..no roll off?

last mountain & eastern hogger Jeff, I would imagine that you know this, but that is a model of an actual tag job. I saw it in a magazine several years back and it was really a work of art. Can you remember any more of the story about it ? If I remember right I think they thought it had been done in Texas. but I could be wrong about that.. Very nice piece though.

TMarsh Jeff- I assumed the new switch would have been a button, but I guess you wouldn’t want to just keep your finger on a siren button for as long as you’d have that thing running at times. No not really. I was thinking of that honking horn thing you have. You know the one that makes people for blocks look to see what the heck that was. I assumed it had a button.

Good Morning!! Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast buffet please. Thanks. Sunny, with a high near 31. Hm. I take it I missed something? Who took the pie this time. PM me. I’m nosey. Stove will be here Wednesday……sometime from 0830 until…..well until they get here. They don’t stop until they are done (his words, not mine). Due to the other items they will have to possibly install he’s sorry but they just have no idea how long each stop may take. Believe it or not someones “easy, no problem locations” are much more involved when carrying a refrigerator. “Well, I thought it would fit through the door”. They will give a 30 minute heads up before they come out realizing that sitting all day in a house waiting may end up requiring a quick trip somewhere and sure enough that’s when the truck will arrive. They are pretty nice and straight foreward about it. We bought our fridge we just replaced from them 17 years ago and never regretted it. Hey, 5/10 year warranty on all appliances is worth something at no extra charge. That’s 5 year parts and labor on everything and for the stove/oven, 10 years on the heating elements. Yup labor too. They also have a service department so it’s a call and they come out and fix it, shake your hand and say have a good day. We never had to call them on the refrigerator, but others say they are good at their warranty. Jim- I sure hope things get better on the w**k front. Sounds like some very unfare things are happening. As for the shift, well, let’s just say the appliances are….collateral damage to the check book due to the change in appearance of the floors. Casualties of war so to speak. Flip- Good to see you again. Don’t feel bad. It’s about time for me to bring in a picture of Toddland (of which I’m king) to give all those with issues about their own little kingdoms a blast of “well now I feel a whole lot better”.

Ray- I see you cleaned the w**bench up a little for the photo. I think this time I actually see apiece of the top. Or is that why you built the other one? Just decided it was easier to start over with another?
Curt- There is a reason Ray uses that old piano. It has sides. No runoff.
Garry- Been looking at Terry’s fine layout and thinking, gee, you and him could have a long distance operating session.
KEITH!!!- Man it’s good to hear from you. I do recall you started to have some issues when you were last in, but then there was some weather or earthquake or something and I began to fear…well, we won’t go into that. Glad you’re back and doing well. Also congrats and, on behalf of others who travel with their little four legged family members, thanks for joining up with the “pet friendly” hotels. It is greatly appreciated.
Ulirich- Too bad we never really know who our friends are until…..all that is left is friendship.
Ken- Yes I saw it. I don't always get a chance to pop in during the day. Usually it's just during the morning before my day begins, or like this morning, when I get a chance. Anyway, I have to w**k Friday at 4:30 of course, so let me know what time you’ll be here and we can work something out.
Welp, looks like I’ve rambled enough so back to grouting. Didn’t do a darn thing on the room yesterday. I was a bad boy.
