Well folks it looks like we are in for some flooding here again in Brisbane.
Since monday morning, at home I've had 310mm or just over 12" in the old scale, and it is STILL raining. Supposed to rain until next tuesday.
The difference from last years big flood to this year is that so far most of the rain has been on the coast, just causing local creeks and causeways to flash flood. My suburb has some low lying areas and also some high spots (where I am is around 120m ASL) so far the extent of the flooding seems to be around a foot of water over the road here and there. We did have one creek north of us flood causing some evac orders being issued by the Police with the Fire Brigade helping them move.
I have been monitoring local EMS radios and overnight there were around 10 rescues performed after some people tried crossing flooded roads and stalling their cars, or getting them washed into the creek.
We did have on the Gold coast ( South of me) have 300mm or 12" OVERNIGHT in the mountains which will cause alot of river rises down that way.
Hopefully the system won't move in land too far otherwise we might be in deep do-do!!
Anyway, we have Australia day public holiday tomorrow, so might do a bit of investigating around the place...
Cheers!

Heartland Division CB&Q Ulrich... I'm sorry to read your post about your not feeling well. Prayers for you. Our family has been very deeply concerned for the past two days about a family member who suddenly has meningitis. He is husband of one of our neices. This is a very nice young familiy with 3 children who lives in Michigan. Our neice is the daughter of Shelley's Michigan sister. He is in ICU and is not expected to awaken for a few days. I suppose he could be called a nephew-in-law to me.

Looks Like I will Have Too Go To Work Wednesday Regardless Of How I Feel. Bill in his never ending quest to get fired called in today sick. (I was schedule off Today) Plus Jim the so called manager is all so off sick with Pink Eye. So Larry is working from open to close, that is a 15 hour day. While I am not a fan of Larry, I do feel some what sorry for him.
Larry all so may have learned a lesson. Value your coworkers. He has cut out all the add on sales from the counter people with him doing all the add on sales. Why work when you are sick for less than $7.00 a hour?

Well I finally got the Peerless tractor back together. Had to go back twice because of one small part. It's a small snap ring that holds the left front strut/spindle assembly in place. The first one was a hair too big and didn't fit properly. Got the right one the second time around. It's simple to put in. Just start it on then knock it into place with a hammer. That's after you're already using two hands to hold the strut/spindle in place and hold the ring so it can be hit. I put the wheel on the spindle with no bearings then put my foot under the tire to hold the assembly in place so I could use my free hand to swing the hammer. After that greasing the spindle and putting on the bearings and wheel was a cake walk. The tie rod went back on without a problem. So, my beast is ready for the mowing season. Problem now is I'm so tired I don't want to work on the Athearn F7. Guess it'll have to wait a while.

***Garry, hope your N-I-L recovers. That is mighty dangerous stuff. And you folks have a safe trip. AZ., right? Take a deep breath of the desert air and howl at the moon for me. Well over 1/3rd of my life was spent there. Will always love the AZ. desert.
***Ray, that thar ain't no rail truck! What in the world were they thinking?
Ended up at H.D. where I bought a basic tile saw. It would have cost me about the same to hire a tile guy and this way I have one for any future projects. Now I must clear out/clean up the enclosed porch so I have a place to cut tiles, mix thin-set and grout, etc... It could take me the rest of the week just to get that far.
Need to rest a bit now. Rob
Ray ... I like the Harrisbug pictures,
Meanwhile, Shelley and I are getting ready for our trip, and there is not much model railroading for me to report.
Tomorrow is my 5th anniversary of being in the MR Forum.
Cheers.

Flo, I'll have a cup of hot cocoa. Make it very hot if you would. Local temp is down to 34°F and falling at the moment. Very damp and cold outside. Not good camping weather! Now another 10° lower and it would be perfect.....
Cederstrand ***Ray, sounds like good idea. Can we take the bridge that's still intact? Rob

I think that would be a good idea.... The one that is still there is the longest stone arch bridge in the world IIRC. If we cross it, lets not try it like these mental midgets from Goah-jiah... http://m.chronicle.augusta.com/node/525800/photos "Hey y'all, waaaahtch theeis!"
Still haven't made it down cellar to the trains.....

Sir Madog Only a short visit - I am not feeling well. Had a total system failure earlier in the day - just collapsed. Doc came and hooked me up to an unknown liquid in an IV bag. I am stable now, just so tired.

Currently 38°F outside here in the Finger Lakes under cloudy skies. Seasonable actually. Good day to spend in the train room. Hope I can forget about some other things needing to be done and just play with the trains for a change.
How about we take a side trip down to the Harrisburg, PA area today?
Catch you all later!
Extra strong coffee TO GO, please.
Fairly busy day ahead.
Have a good one, y'all.

Good Morning...
Lee: The weather has been a bit silly lately innit? Yesterday we actually got to 60F and people were walking around in shorts...this morning..cold, blustery and snowy...
As I said earlier...uuummmm..what is all the whispering about?
I'll just have a coffee and I'll be at the corner booth...back up against the wall is kind of comforting y'know...
Good morning all!
28 and clear this morning. Should be a high in the mid 50's today.
Ken: I had similar brake experience at the tire shop when I bought tires. How ever I had just replaced my own brake pads about 2 months earlier and they were " 97 percent worn" I told the service guy, Lets go look. he hemmed and hawwed and said " well we only report this as a courtesy" Uh huh. I do not like car repair places because of some that are dishonest.
Good morning. It's 51° and clear. The high will be 68° and there's a chance of rain.Looks like it's gonna be a wet one today. A 20% chance of rain this morning shooting up to 60% around noon until about midnight. Tomorrow doesn't look any better.I'm hoping to finish up the work on the Peerless tractor this morning. At least that'll be that out of the way. When the weather permits we'll get started on working on my father's little one cylinder MTD Yardman. It sure looks small next to the other one. A has a Kohler 20 hp Courage engine which is no bad thing, it just requires more maintenance than the old two cylinder 17 hp Briggs and Stratton on the older tractor. Comparing the two, the Kohler is a gas guzzler. It's kind of funny though. Big tractor, big engine. Smaller tractor (if it can be called that), even more powerful engine. Kind of like shoe horning a 400 cubic inch V8 into a Chevy Vega.Maybe sometime today I'll have time to work on the Athearn blue box F7. The trucks still need to be cleaned and I haven't even had time to pop the shell off.
Good Morning!! Coffee and oh….how bout um…..oh I don’t know. Huevos Rancheros I suppose. Thank you. What are the girls all whispery about? Something in the works? Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.

Good Morning All,
Crazy weather here on the north coast of Ohio. 7” snow followed by ¾” of rain and 50F, followed by high winds, and today will be snow flurries and 33F. I have to check the weather to see if I need a winter coat, rain coat, or shorts….

Have a warm and sunny day!!!
Time for me to call it a night. I'm a bit stiff from all the work today. See y'all tomorrow.
Hi peoples. Just stopping top get a Dr. Pepper and a do-nut.
Ken: Somebody needs to ram a boot up the service managers behind.
Jeff: You be more careful! Nice GD boxcar.
Rob: Mow are things going?
Prayers for those in need.
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Can't sleep!
Flo, beer and a severing of BACKBONE please.
I tried to go to sleep, but my mind kept racing thinking about things I know about work. I am sure some of you have noticed I quite saying the company name I work for. Main reason I don't want fall out if they find I am a member of the site.
Services Manager is out of control and the Manager has no control of the shop! One of the reason I left today besides feeling bad is because of what was going on. Customer (Woman) did need front brakes but not rear brakes they where fine. She was told she needed both front and rear brakes by the services manager / theft. Plus he keeps saying " I sold them fill in the blank here" not they need this and we are doing the work.
Manager on the other hand says nothing to speak of. He has been there for a moth and I have yet to hear him give a order and tell me what he wants me or others to do?
Guess it is time to speak up.
Evenin' folks!
Flo, I'll have a dozen Buffalo Wings, some sweet potato fries, and a trip to the salad bar along with a cup of decaf please. I'll be sitting in back in my usual spot.
Jeffrey, by the looks of the layout, you must have gotten some high winds from those tornadoes that touched down to the East of you...... Either that or vandals tipped over one of you billboards!
I have been plodding along getting stuff done today. Ran off all the Honorable Mention certificates and got them ready for the Art & Poetry Chair to pick up to sign, mailed out the Division Newsletter (NMRA) to those who still don't have email (or won't give a working one to use), Picked up a bunch of items at Staples I needed (good thing I did because as I was trying to pint a high res document tonight on the Canon printer, 4 of the 5 ink cartridges were empty), a bunch of other stuff. Not going to make it down to the train room today, but I should have some quality time for it tomorrow.
Back to w*rk as soon as I load more wood into the stove....
