Z gauge Cog/rack and pinion rails
Posted by Thornblood on Sunday, December 11, 2011 1:27 PM

All,

I am thinking of building a cog/rack and pinion rail in z gauge (HOz/HOi) and was wondering if there is any commercially available models of either power units or track.  Also are there any rack and pinion add-ons to rails that could be used in that gauge if one was wanting to handlay track and maybe build their own power unit, AKA rack and pinion center track in say N that could fit in z track.

Alternately, are there any other methods of assisting trains up and down steep grades?

Thanks,

Jed W.
