I took the video with my digital video camera that was state of the art twelve years ago. A few days ago I was in the same situation. I went to You-Tube and on the how to, they told me how to get my old digital video tape recording on to the computer and then on to You-Tube. I wish I had found the help a day earlier. I would still have hair. We are all waiting for your really big shoooow!

Thanks, guys, considering this was my first attempt with Windows Movie Maker. Tom, I use a Sony Bloggie, taped to a freight car. It's about the size of a cell phone. Then, I just uploaded it to You Tube. Brent, my double track spacing is 2 1/2 ", Rich, I never had a track plan, but Stein figured one out using my photos as a guide, it's in an older thread on this forum. DJ.
This thread made a good excuse to break out the ol' minicam again.

I gotta find a source for more light next time I use that thing. Maybe clean the layout off, too...

That's very cool. What kind and brand of minicam did you use? I just had a Major Wake-Up-Call and found out that most of the newer 'video' cameras have Memory Sticks instead of tape or DVD's (well, I never said I was electronically very smart, LOL!). So now I'm in the process of looking for one.
That soda looked like one of Abby's "Caf-Pow's" from NCIS, LOL!
Well, if it will load, here's the one and only video I've ever taken of the Yuba River Sub, it's a double-header coming out of the South Yuba Canyon. I took it with my Canon 7.2, so it's not that clear.

Tom View my layout photos! http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/mm310/TWhite-014/Rio%20Grande%20Yuba%20River%20Sub One can NEVER have too many Articulateds!
Kudos to everyone who has posted your videos here. I'm feeling very inspired by your impressive work.
I too once tried to create a video on my last layout (long since dismantled) similar to that of DJ's excellent results. Unfortunately, I could never get past what I call the "Godzilla effect" where by my scenery was suddenly and inexplicably destroyed. I never did figure out what I was doing wrong.
Ah well, maybe I'll have better luck with my new layout.
By the way, sorry for going OT. Please excuse my silliness and pay no mind to the man behind your monitor.

So, Vic, does that video camera of yours take full-sized VHS tapes?

The camera is an el-cheapo Ebay special. Here it is in a special custom-fabricated mounting
Are you referring to that big white cup in the video? That came from the local minor league baseball team's stadium - the classic "I paid six bucks for this soft drink - by golly I'm keeping the cup!" It's now full of dried plaster.

That's the exact same camera I got from Micromark. Now, another question--how the heck did you get it to load up your video on YouTube? I swear, I can't figure out how to use that camera except to play it back on a TV monitor off of an old VCR recorder.
But then understand, I'm probably the most Electronically Challenged person I've ever heard of, LOL!
