HO Scale B&O smooth side observation w/boat tail end - any out there
Posted by scoutII on Friday, September 30, 2011 2:50 PM

I am looking for something that is close to the smooth side observation like the "pointed end type" of the "capital limited" in ho scale to go along with my rivarossi set - Have a hook on an IHC "penny" one and could repaint? - Any painters in the CT. area? I have in stock the full spectrum heavy set and a rivarossi heavy set, and a smoothside passenger set from rivarossi (happy with what they offer as their observation) - looking for the pointed end observation...nonbrass....Have a American Beauty on the way - What other manufacturers made such? IHC,Con-Cor,Kato,

Scout,

I think what you're looking for is an 85ft. "Boat Tail" style observation car, if I'm not mistaken.  Take a look at these:

All the IHC streamlined "Boat Tails" I've seen have corrugated sides.  AHM's smooth sided observation cars from the 1979s-80s were "Blunt-ended" so they wouldn't be close to a boat tail style.

Here's a Walthers GN smooth sided Boat Tail obs. car.  But with the window arrangements and other body details, it might not be close enough for what you're looking for:
