It's the weekend somewhere!
Southern Railways RS-3 #2131 leads a local through Big Rock Gap
Jarrell
Good morning Jarrell, and thanks for starting. I say the same thing when I want a beer, its after noon somewhere! Again another great picture!
It's been a while since I finished any new cars, but here they are. Now I seem to be on a two week schedule with building, painting and decaling.
This is an old Details West 52' RBL (The Evans Blue Island Reefer), now in Ralston Purina Service hauling cereal. Painted with Floquil Signal Red and lettered with Herald King Decals.
This is an Eel River Models 62' PC&F RBL used in Coors Beer Service at Golden, CO. Painted White and lettered with Oddballs Decals.
Since I mixed the paint for the Corn Syrup Tank car, I decided to paint a Corn Products Covered hopper at the same time. The car is an Atlas Kit (Not much work to assemble). Painted and decorated with Herald King Decals.
Thanks for looking!
Rick

Jarrell, that's a picture perfect scene and photo, esp. like the coloring of the rocks.

Great work, everybody.
Jarrell ... You have another great "post card perfect" photo.
My photo has SD7 303 emerging from the only tunnel on my layout. The double track leads to my staging yard.

Phoebe Vet Are those from Backdrop Warehouse?
No. I created them myself, and had them printed at a professional print shop. They were expensive. I got a huge discount and paid $250 for 3 backdrops covering 3 walls.

Very impressive.
Nice work Jarrell. I really like the lighting you used on that shot.

Nice pictures so far everyone.
Here's a little fun project I am working on.
I added spark arrestors and painted the stacks Floquil "Old Silver" and will add MU hoses.
I called Athearn and after a small discussion I decided to order a SW1500 interior and AAR switcher side frames.

I'm going to post one more time. This is the North end of my yard next to the Engine House.
Good stuff again this week guys. Keep them coming.
Here is the newest addition to the BRVRR locomotive roster:
A Proto 2000 SW8/900/600 locomotive in New York Central livery. This little gem was too cheap to pass up. It still needs a few details and a decoder but performs well on DC. I'm not too fond of the handrails either. They may need replacing.
Keep up the good work guys. I always find this thread inspiring.
Remember its your railroad

Hi All,
Just some reconstruction on the mainline.
There are some DDA40X's in the workshop so that curve needs broadening. Rumour has it the Athearn workshop is having some delays.

One of two Atlas SD50"s just lightly weathered. Just enough to take away the new look.
Eventually on this and the other engines I will do the grills with a light black wash to make them stand out. A good winter project.

Here is my Union Station that I have been working on in recent weeks. Of course, the building is the popular Union Station kit made by Walthers. The kit is based on the Burlington Route station in Omaha, Nebraska.
I placed station at street level above the tracks. The streetcar line runs between the station and downtown. A future project is to install trolley wires.
Currently, I am building the downtown area, and I have completed several buildings.
I did some backdrop painting, still figuring out how to make it look good:
Also worked on a location for my fertilizer plant. Here is the tentative spot:

This is my latest creation. Front Range frame, motor, flywheels, shafts and worms. Proto 2000 AAR FA trucks, Walthers Trainline GP9m shell, Digitrax decoder set for road switcher speed table. It runs nicely in consist with my Model Power GP9.
Started work today on converting my old Suydam Ed's Market into a Stater Brothers grocery store.
My inspiration is this prototype:
Its pretty rough right now, but the test signs look pretty good to me. Wish my printer could do white ink though. I guess I'll have to get some custom decals made.

I hope you will welcome the liberty I have taken to perform what I think may be in mind for you in the way of an improvement. There are shadows cast by the trees nearest the backdrop. I have used a cloning brush in Sagelight to remove those shadows as best I can. I hope you like this better.
I like this photo very much. The lighting is very nice. With a bit more effort, if you desired it, I could also clone out the fascia, but I think I like it as it is.

Thanks, Crandell. I like the version you processed better and appreciate the compliment.

I think your painted backdrop looks great. One suggestion might be to add a few more (not too many more) foreground trees on the layout. I just wish I could paint a forest like you have!

Set the background to the gray or brown color as in the prototype photo, set the color of the lettering to white (which is actually no ink) and print on white photo paper. For a decal, do the same, and apply on a white surface or use white decal paper.
