Jeffrey, now how good is that Buffet City never heard of it.

It's quite nice. It's a Chinese restaurant with a very quiet atmosphere. Everything's laid out in buffet fashion, help yourself. Today we paid $30 for three people.

Galaxy:  May you stay high and dry..the radar seems to be displaying an endless sea of green and yellow of varying shades your way..here only a few drips fell....Whistling

Ken: I know a couple of people who are financial planners..interesting work there.

Garry, Duke:  Is/was there a website mentioned for that layout? I think I missed it somehow...

---------------------------------------------------------

Well, as I mentioned before..up here we got a few drippingfests, but we are getting the winds from the Northeast hereConfused....it did do a downpour for a couple of hours earlier in the day but not much after that...

Spent part of the afternoon working on the layout...relaid some track around the end of the peninsula that was a little too radical a radii for a few feet..things did like to derail there ...now I am thinking of trying my hand at handlaying a 15 degree crossover for a spur/interchange....

Chloe, I'll have 8 extra large hexaplex burgers with mozzarella cheese between each burger and fried portobello mushroom gravy on the burgers as well as a large 5lb tub of Poutine and a banana split as well please..oh and my usual RBF...I'll be at the corner booth or a bit...MischiefDinnerWhistling

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right now.  I'll be in the back booth relaxing for a while.

Holy Moley!  What is Barry eating tonight.....  He's trying to have another coronary I see! Huh?

Rob, no I never get tired of getting complimented.........  Thank You!

Ken the rooms it is in are about 276 sq. feet.  So it is a bit bigger than a 4' x 8' ........ Whistling  There is a guy near where I live by the name of Guil Mack (owner of Tiger Valley Trains).  He created a train room and then built a house over it.  His little train room is 1800 sq. feet.........  Good luck with the interviews!

The best word to describe the Finger lakes tonight is damp.  Very damp.  62°F outside, raining, with a 97% humidity tonight.  Yep, damp describes it quite well.....  Windows are closed and the air conditioner is shut off, BTW.  We are not nearly as bad off as Galaxy and most everyone in the Eastern part of NYS...  They are getting nailed again, even before drying out from the last deluge.  We have gotten an inch and a half of rain today and may get 1 to 2" more overnight....  So far the basement has stayed dry.....  Although I haven't been down there since I got back from the Scout District Roundtable tonight.

Here is one more photo of the roundhouse.  This one is a look inside:

Sure wish we could send some of the precipitation down to Texas.........

Have a good, safe, and dry evening.

Evening All,

I just wanted to drop a line before heading off to bed. For some reason I'm really tired tonight. Went out to Kohl's tonight and got a couple of new shirts for vacation. I have a shift tomorrow then I am off for 2 weeks. I will be able to post here only sporadically next week until Thursday then nothing until the following week on Wednesday. I will miss reading the posts in the diner.

Everybody take care.

Barry asked. ...  "Garry, Duke:  Is/was there a website mentioned for that layout? I think I missed it somehow...'

Here's the website....   http://www.entertrainmentjunction.com/

Barry and Everybody else ... I suggest you go to the website, and click on "Train Journey" ... Then click on the video in the center....  They have a camera in the G Scale train, and you can "ride" it.  It's really remarkable!

Here are my granddaughters when we visited EnterTrainMent Junction.

Duke is posting some great photos. Here are two of mine.

Afternoon,

Hmmm... It seems USPS are slack at updating the shipping information on the track and trace page. Has not updated since 7.37am on the 5th. It has left Chicago and is en route somewhere between there and here. Are they just slack at updating or don't they care once it crosses into International Waters? Confused

I did the order on the 1st and it shipped on the 3rd, so I will wait a couple more days for it before starting to panic!

Good morning, Chloe.  Yes, I am earlier that usual.  I still need coffee to shake the cobwebs.  Climbing last night was a scorcher, but I still held on.Laugh

Ulrich,  I do miss the rain, but it is nice to have the change.  Fire danger is up.  I hope that Paul is okay.

Ray, Your RH & TT photos are tempting me back to that project.   Our floor is in and operable, but too many things needed to be in place while you could still reach over the floor area.  We even have the lights for the interior.  Are the RH & TT both Walthers?

Duke,  Thanks for sharing your photos.  Nice modeling.

Garry,  Nice job mentoring your granddaughters.  There aren't very many women in this hobby.

Later,  Sue

Good Morning!! Just coffee please, and a couple pieces of wheat toast with butter and strawberry preserves. Thanks.

And thanks for the Anniversary well wishes too. ‘Preciate them.

Last night went well. They had to stay until 5:30 at the elevator. Harvest is starting around here, then we had to stop at her Mom’s for a bit, then we went to yep, Lonestar. Truthfully they do about the best job on a decent steak around here. Appetizer was the Spinach Artichoke dip, and for the main course, we both had the Delmonico, my favorite cut, med-rare and they cooked it el perfecto. Baked sweet potato with the cinnamon and sugar (which she would make a meal out of that) and a Caesar salad. Came home and she wanted to watch an episode of NCIS. Yes, her idea and she is the one who got me hooked, but she fell asleep part way through.Laugh

Ken- Yes that is us (I’m the one on the right) a um, few years ago..might have been ’89, not real sure, but somewhere around there. Would have made us 27 or 28 depending. We actually didn’t get married until 1996. Commitment issues on my part don’t you know, she was ready about five years before I was and I heard it a lot. Good thing she wasn’t a telemarketer. I was afraid when I did ask her she would say no just for spite. So, I didn't ask, just started making plans and she just started helping making them too just as if I'd actually proposed. The rest is history as they say.

Ulrich- Funny you should mention that, I never noticed but when I went into the closet, I noticed that yes, the dominant color of my wardrobe is in fact..blue.Laugh

Rob-Well, the lack of smile from me is the fact I’m still probably reeling from flash fright. You know when there have been so many cameras shoved in your face, that the mere sight of a camera makes you wince. Had to be an event that both my Mother and Sister, the shutterbugs, were at because that appears to be my sisters old place and I can’t recall a one on one with sis and us without Mom. Brenda, on the other hand, comes from the fact my sister likely took the picture. Brenda has always just been, how shall we say.., “polite”... to my sister. She always felt she was phony. There were some family issues she always claimed were inexcusable. She is right on both points. But after the last 2 or 3 years with Mom and especially about the funeral…..I wouldn’t leave them alone for too long. Brenda will still stay polite, but it won’t take very much at all to set her off now. They are not exactly loving SIL’s. But listen to my sister tell it and you may get a different opinion.

Jeff- Chicken 18 different ways. I gotta get down there and try that. We have a Buffet City in Springfield and it too is a Chinese buffet. Haven’t counted the types of Chicken though as it‘s clear on the other side of the city from us. Funny about the girl. I gotta tell you sometime of a similar event at Halloween involving me as yard art and a certain “tough” teenager. My wife still laughs to this day.

Ray- Once again I bounce my head off the counter at your work!Bow To top it off your detail inside is just plain awesome.

Well (they’re hauling water) Fall Festival is this Saturday and I will be glad to see it come and GO! Not because I don’t like it, I think it is a great thing. Problem is Brenda, being the President of the Hens, I mean Foundation, gets waaaay too involved in it and it consumes all her free time. Especially now. THAT combined with the preparing for harvest and the inherent problems that arise from that, makes her a worn out pup when she finally does get home.

Which reminds me, I need to pick up the kiddy bounce house. I wonder why the person who is in charge of Kids Corner doesn’t do it? Oh yeah, they are too busy.Grumpy

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Sue:  Sounds like you are doing some interesting things with that layout!!Thumbs UpYeah

Good Morning!

It is again, another dull dull dull day for our viewing pleasure..with the typical 40% chance of showers...tomorrow, pretty much the same as today..and since it is the start of Western Fair this weekend..it will be dull and showery as well..oh..and cool

And since today is going to be a showery one..we are currently getting a 40% shower now..most of the lawn(hay) cutting will have to wait until whenever the rain lets up...Whistling

I'm going to get my trainstuff finally put together in my trainroom...hopefully....Whistling...maybe I'll 'forget' to do some hd things here....Mischief

Garry:  That is an amazing layout the fellow has!! Wow!!

Ray:  What bulbs did you use for the roundhouse interior? I'm thinking of doing something similar to a couple of grainmills here....

Flo, I'll have a coffee and a breakfast bagel...no, not the extra large thing..regular sized!! Sheesh!! ...I'll be over at the RC...geeesh..do a little bit of a different scale dinner and everyone thinks I go for supersized everything....  ...oh no...Flo, nothing nothing  .

..KERRRCCLLLAAAAANNNGG!!!!

Good morning. It's mostly sunny and 59°. The high will be 83° and it will be sunny.

Nothing planned for today except to take it easy. I pushed it a bit yesterday. Both of the Stewart F units are now in running condition as are the BL2 and the E7. Time for a well deserved break.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel w/ cheese and sausage and a cup of your very finest dark roast coffee.  I'll have a seat at the Rivet Counter for a bit.

Sue and Todd, thanks for the kind words.  Sue the TT is a Walthers 90' I believe.  Was a real bear to get installed and w*rking correctly.  It does have a motor but is not indexed.  I have the rail wired to a Digitrax AR1 autoreverse unit to keep the polarity correct.  A gentleman over across the street noticed that the building is nicely weathered, but the doors to the Roundhouse are not.....  THAT will be corrected in another half hour or so (new photos will be forthcoming).  THAT is one reason i like to post the photos here and some other places.  Always good to have a few more set of eyes looking at the w*rk!

The sun has been peeking through the clouds every now and then this morning outside.  Currently 65°F with a high of 72° predicted (WOW!) today.  We have gotten 3.25 inches of rain in the first week of September here.  Our monthly average is 3.5".  With the prediction for Thunderboomers today and tomorrow, we will probably have our months worth of liquid sunshine.  Now Galaxy, on the other hand has gotten almost 6 inches of rain so far this month and has lots and lots of flooded roads and damage down there....  Hope you are OK Galaxy.  I remember 1972 and Agnes!  I understand this is far, far worse!!  You are in my prayers!

Rob, if there was anyway I could send some of our water to you, I would gladly.....

Best get a move on as I have to get as much ready to be "evaluated" as i can today....

Prayers for all those being drenched by the storms of this Fall...!

Coffee in a SANTA FE mug, please.

***Jeffrey, I have always liked those SF colors. Are you going to leave them alone or patch over them?

***Todd, I was with my wife 9 years before we got married. We did it on a whim one day. When we posed for the "photo", the man said, "It's OK to smile now" (or something along those lines). Guess after that many years, it was almost like any other day for us.Laugh

Need to make a hay run today. Will also check the soil out by the road to see if it's to muddy for posthole digging or not. After that much rain, it can really grab hole of the auger.

Good Afternoon Gang,

Flo, coffee and a slice of that pecan pie, please.

Nearly fell asleep during today´s stay at the STALAG. We are almost through with what we have to learn, but the exam is in 4 weeks ... No idea how to survive that long a time doing practically nothing. I´d rather spend the time w*rking on my station module.

Todd - what happened to your post? I could hardly read it, the font size was set to where my eyes would not be able to cope with it anymore. Btw, if you look into my closet, the predominant color is also blue Laugh

Sue - last time I was in your neck of the woods, all we had was that liquid sunshine dripping down on us. How long ago was that? Megad, 33 years!

Ray - your pictures of the inside of that roundhouse put me in a state of shock and awe. I´ll never be able to achieve that. ( I wish I could) Bow

Garry - you are one of a lucky man with granddaughters like those two!

Btw, did I tell you that I entered my waterfall module in a little contest in another forum? The contest was closed September 1st and now it´s voting time. As per today, I have received 9 out of 10 votes for it. I have to admit I feel proud of this.

Have a good one!

Haven't made up my mind on that one yet. No other road name has been safe. UP and Rio Grand gets patched over, most others get stripped. Even the Pennsylvania tuskan red got zapped. My two SDP40F's still carry Amtrak colors but the name was erased and L&A put in it's place.

 Hello fellow dinners.

 Flo, beer please.

Well I got a few things done today. Biggest is Sue and I got sighed up for energy assistants. Dumb as it sounds it was all most worth losing my job so we could get the help. Electric pass due amount is still $616.00 and the next bill will be here in days. With what I was earning I would have never got it paid. But, I rather be working than freeloading off the backs of other working people.

Got the Dodge Daytona home! Big Smile Wife has been driving me nuts over the car! She worries more than OSHA!  She actually told me the other day " if someone steals the plates off the car and uses them in a Bank Robbery they will put you in jail"! Laugh Honest the God, she told me that!

Bob, my mechanic did me a big favor for me on getting it home. He is only going to charge me $75.00 and will let me make payments. Bob has been more of a friend for years than just my repair shop.

Well, got a early interview Friday so I am out of here for now.

 Later, Ken

Afternoon, Zoe, I'll have a RBF, please. Thanks!

Curt, check your PM's (aka 'conversations').

Chris - if I were riding in THAT 'Beast', I'd sure hope the hydraulics (or whatever runs the air-lifters) didn't decide to quit while goin' down the road! Surprise (Screeeeeeetch, OUCH-OUCH-OUCH! Aiyeeeeeee!!!!!.....) Whistling I bet THAT 'experimental engineer' had some fun coming up with that!

Ken, given what your signature quote is, why am I NOT surprised that the Beast wasn't your favorite kind o'car? Huh? Hope your other interviews turn out more promising, so you won't have to w**k with THAT talking dog... Whistling Just keep plugging away like you have been on the interviews (especially the jobs that look promising at all). Thumbs Up And it is okay to take a break for a bit from your wife - better than either of you getting hauled in for murder or such...(just kiddin' there)

Sue, glad to hear no brass locos were harmed in your operating session. Wink What? Are you and Larry actually stopping to take naps and eat, when you could be finishing up your layout?! (I should talk!..EmbarrassedOops) What kind of logging cabins are Larry and you going with for your camp, by the way?

Todd, be careful not to shave off toooo much hair - I've heard of some guys whose dog did not recognize them after a particularly close 'shave' at the barber's place. (Rought-row!)

Ulrich, I couldn't find (on the Rix/Pikestuff site) any N scale guardrails, but on Walthers' I found these. I have bought a couple of the same company's HO scale building's fire escapes (brass), and they appear well-made (in the kit; I have to finish the building I want to put the fire escape on first). I bought mine from

NSJoe - good to hear you have a pretty good schedule this year for school. Keep at least even with your assignments, or (if possible) slightly ahead on them, and you will have fewer Oops catching-up-how-am-I-EVER-gonna-get-all-THIS-done? moments... Whistling The arrangement of which classes you have/and when, turned out pretty good, also. Like your sunset/sunrise photo, too. Smile

Ray, it sounds like you're having serious flashbacks of PTSD and THAT 8th period study hall of yours. Surprise Breathe deeply, man, take your time. And it it happens again, ask Zoe for a second glass of that FInger Lakes wine (just a second one, don't drain the wine closet dry, please!)(If Ken or Barry have more days like THAT one, they may want a glass - or two...). Smile, Wink & Grin Hope your truck estimate comes in on the lower end (and that they can get any needed parts easily).

Barry, best wishes for finding a replacement vehicle ASAP. Good that you have a "Good neighbour" (to borrow a certain company's slogan)(And watch out for any other idiots out there on the roads...) Bang Head

Rob - uh,...good luck with the kudzu (and keep that flamethrower handy)...Whistling I've heard some (legendary?) tales about that stuff. Wow

Good to hear the twisters missed you and Bama. Yeah

Galaxy, maybe I need to add "NO rain" for you on the Angel list...? Our weatherguesser today was saying that the next two days we might be getting some rain, coming from the east/northeast, which is left out of hurricane/tropical depression/low pressure area Lee. Persistent li'l devil, Lee is.

OzJim, good to see that another MRR'er making layout progress. Thumbs Up Have you planned what you wanna do for disguising the transition to the other side of the layout (trees, tunnel, etc.)? The grain elevator looks impressively large - should be able to justify several covered hoppers a day there. Smile

Turned in paperw**k at w**k today for my annual privileges renewal, and had my annual employee evaluation with my supervisor David (who I basically trained for covering crisis a few years back). He said he's counting on me training the new crisis person who starts next week. She's done family therapy in another state, and is still in proces of getting her licensure for ours (no experience with w**king crisis and walk-ins). Should be interesting. Wink

Trying to figure if/how much MRR money I have out of this payday (and then, what I can order with it). Also did some more checking my freight cars. Decided I need to make sure ALL of a manufacturer's cars are in the same tub. I'm sure my counts on some are off, but I'll wait until the weekend to drag out all the tubs to re-organized things all into the respective storage tubs. Still have the E&B Valley Santa Fe covered hopper kits sitting on the dining room table (aka MRR w**bench), staring at me when I walk into the kitchen area. Sigh

Well (would be a bit cool for the frogs in there unless the sun was shining down it today), I'll get this posted for now and catch up the rest of the posts tomorrow. AngelAngel for healing of injured body parts, for better days (and no new problems with vehicles), and for some 'kickback and chill' times as needed.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

Morning all, Still waiting for my package.. the wait is killing me! Dead There is still no update on the USPS tracking... they seem very slack.

JimCG : When my tree's turn up from MTS.com I'm going to stick a few there to see what they look like to disguise it and it doesn't look good I will investigate the tunnel option.  I actually thought I might plant a few trees and then add a water tower (the big modern ball kind) on the side closest to the edge to disguise that side and put a thick bunch on the hill side. a few buildings in the foreground will help disguise it too. Smile, Wink & Grin

Just bought a couple of sheets of cork and a couple of bags of scenery today so I'm set to do a bit more work this weekend.

Hopefully my package turns up next week early!

EDIT! I'm buying! Have what you want!! Maybe enjoy some good aussie foods such as meat pies or chicko rolls!
