I thought I would start a new thread so nobody has to read through two pages of no photos.

Here is this week's set of completed cars!

This is a Intermountain Railway PS1 40' Boxcar Kit, Painted Dark Blue and lettered with Herald King Decals.  This is one of only two MNS PS1's that came with a Youngstown Door, the rest had Superior or PS Doors.

This is a Model Die Casting FMC 5077 CF Boxcar, painted Yellow and lettered with Herald King Decals.  This is the last of the cars for Railroads owned by the Owens-Illinois Co. Forest Products Division.  As a ex-Toledo resident I had to do all these cars as OI was headquarted in Toledo when I lived there.

This is an Athearn Railbox Undecorated Kit that I used for the DT&I's 16900 class of PS Boxcars.  Substituted a Details West PS Door for the Athearn Door.  Galvanized Roof, Boxcar Red Body and lettered with Microscale Decals.  This is the third car of this class that I have done.

Thanks for looking!

Rick My 2 Cents

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

Corey, that is one good looking field.

I agree.  Very nice work Corey.

Grampy - Nice scene, but what's the pile of debris at the bottom?

Nothing new from me, so I'll re-post an old historic photo I Photoshopped.  It's depicting what is was like in 1938 on my layout:

I always enjoy your cars Robby.  Very nice scene Garry with the es and SD9s and a real sense of depth.  Night scenes are executed really well, too.

My outdoor HO railroad is being rebuilt.  See my insights page at www.duckdogger.us

Almost all demo is done.  While some of the previous bench work is being reused, the real challenge is getting rid of the "garbage" so you can work.  2 very large contractor bags per week is all I can dispose of legally so in about 3 more weeks I'll have a totally clean work space.

Till then, there is a lot of moving and re-moving of piles to make space for the rebuilt dominos.

Trains. Cooking. Cycling. So many choices but so little time.

At the risk of really dating myself, that shot reminds me of "Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel", from the old Captain Kangaroo TV show of the 50's and 60's.

Oh, come on now Stebby. How bad can it be? I wasn't born until '68 and I remember Captain Kangaroo and Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel! Must have been watching reruns in the 70's!

Some great stuff so far!

On Tuesday, I went to the LHS. Because I failed to find a C40-8 that I wanted/could afford, I got something that I have been wanting for two years now:

I am now the owner of Norfolk Southern 3010 (my favorite locomotive, in case you weren't sure) in HO scale! She is an Atlas Master Silver Series, and she is a beauty. There are very few inaccuracies, which are all easily fixable or ignorable. The 3010 has a few odd details that are different from NS's other GP40-2's, so you can't blame Atlas for missing those few things.

She looks great, but I have yet to see how she runs because I'm still away from my layout. I'm going home on Tuesday for a few days, so I'll try her out then. I have high expectations, because I've always heard great things about Atlases.

Some very nice shots this week now that WPF is actually here!  Garry I particularly like your shot, not only for the subject matter, but for the wonderful depth of field that you achieved.  No wonder you could not wait for WPF this week.

Here are some shots taken at last weekends K-10 model trains open house running session.

My son starts off with his train heading out onto the main out of the large UP yard

Having just received permission to proceed the trains moves onto a lengthy single track section

It has been really hot here near St. Louis but as you can see the LP's have found a place to cool down

Heading past the town on its way to the first stop for the reefer

Some produce getting unloaded at a small dealer

and then a case of produce being left at the freight depot

finally a new load being placed on board at the brewery

A progress report-

A few weeks back I decided to scenick a bare area of my layout. The area I chose looked like a good location for a depot, so I ended up scratchbuilding the depot and didn't put in any scenery. Embarrassed I finally started on the scenery this week.

Not much to look at just yet, but one can see the potential, which is pretty fun.

A rocky creek will wend its way through the new scene. Took me a few tries (and a couple generations of rock castings) to get creek & rock colors acceptable. This is where my colorblindness both helps and hinders.
