What's up my friends!!! Been a while since I checked in on all of you.

Gonna post a few blasts from the past. You old timers have seen these, but maybe they will give the newbies some insperation as to what they can do with an old cheap Tyco like  kit.....

Alright, I'm gonna give this a go with a video. Please excuse the not so great quality as it was shot using my HTC Evo which is supposedly 720p but terrible at frames per second. Enjoy.

D&H only had four of those.  Interesting to see them all on one train.

All four of them were still surviving in private hands the last I knew.  I don't believe that any of them are still in D&H paint.

I am so excited about this, I just have to put it in here too...    (From the Ugly Locomotive Thread)    Well it is a Photo, & the Weekend.. so....

What if.... The BQ23-7 became a standard for modern Locomotives?
Yes, perhaps we would enjoy & actually like something other than the style we know & recognize today (cuz We've been conditioned to them)..
So I got to thinking, why not PhotoShop a Prototype of just that, a modern unit with a 'Q' cab.....?
Opps... I did, & here is my work, an Intermountain ES44Q, a Q..   YES,  a  "Q"  ES44
I took a stock shot & went to town in Photoshop with it..
THIS IS "NOT" AN IMAGE OF AN ACTUAL MODEL!!!!
It is just something I edidted to look like one, if I were to be crazy enough to - 'eeww' - cut up an Intermountain locomotive.
Well, perhaps this is what a modern 'Q' would look like, I don't know, it is just my version of one.
Lets all be happy we still have nice locomotives with pretty stylish short hoods!!!
I personally like what is curently rolling the rails, IMHO!!!
Enjoy!!!

All four of them were still surviving in private hands the last I knew.  I don't believe that any of them are still in D&H paint.

The two wrecked ones that came back from Mexico were in D&H warbonnet paint when they arrived back in the states. I believe Doyle McCormick has transformed one of them into NKP paint. The other one is still in its faded D&H blue waiting for restoration elsewhere.

The two down in Mexico have their own unique paint schemes but are still numbered D&H units.

Great weathering there jeffrey-wimberly! And as for you there mcfunkey monkey you can go back into the woodwork and stop embarrassing us who need to be called 'other modelers'; that rockwork of yours is second to none!

And loather, you have been conspicuous by your absence but you sure rejoined the world of the living with a bang!

WOW!  Some great work being posted this weekend!  Too many to name you all, but Crandell and DJ you both have outdone yourselves this time.  Impressive work all the way around.....

I have been finishing up some details on the engine house in anticipation of it being judged for an NMRA Merit Award.  One thing about photos, they make it easy to see what is still missing...  Here are some photos taken today sitting on the layout where it will ultimately reside...  just some test fitting of sorts and checking to see what still needs to be done.

Ray your Engine House continues to amaze me. If you don't earn a merit award for this the judges are blind.

Ray, I can't say I am a knowledgeable judge of scale models in terms that a judge would have, but I sure like what I see, and I am impressed.  Just the doors are wonderful, they way the cuts and lengths are such a tight and convincing fit.  You have my admiration for all the fine little details that go on toward the rear interior bringing to it such realism and depth.  Congratulations....you have won the merit certificate in my books.

Great stuff again this weekend guys! Crandel, another work of art.

I've been working on a little scene at the Farmers Union Elevator on the BRVRR layout.

The boys from Shocker Electric have just finished replacing a ventilation blower at the Farmers Union Elevator. Their truck is a modified Athearn twin screw Freightliner kit with the rear axle removed. The truck bed and hoisting crane are home made. Still a lot of detailing to do but I'm getting there.

Keep up the good work guys. I always find you inspiring.

Remember its your railroad

Wolfgang,

Is that the lil' Grant Line that you totally custom-built & added 'sound' into as well?

I was pretty happy just building one stock, without busting up the grab irons & window trim..  What you did with it is pretty incredible.   Nice work!

Wolfgang,

Thank you for the update on the links, I really did save those this time, essential!!!

This may interest you, a little drive I picked up a long while back...

Here is a mini HOn3 drive mechanism, I don't recall the name of it, as it is unmarked. It is of high quality though, it has set screws on the gears, & the gears are heilicly cut... Won't find that on the street!!! (Incredible!!!) I plan to put it into a "Grandt Line" boxcab locomotive as the wheelbase matches exactly. Although I do not really want to cover it up, as it is a work of art, as it is..

It is displayed on my small ("still in the works") Shay Display base, & is a composite photo using two shots combined into one view..

Great Wolfgang! I love how you made that urban scenes... Excellent rowhouses idea! I didn't know how to tackle this problem on my own layout, but I think you will inspire me!

Needed a little selective compression, but I made sure I didn't cut down on the size of the beers...

Fab work on the building!
Always groovy to get that "local color" in there.

Funny, though: you model N scale, yet the beer guts seem to be scaled between HO & Oh! ;)
