Southern Pacific Brass With New Ends
Posted by robert sylvester on Friday, July 8, 2011 1:26 PM

Continuing from the previous post I did the same for a Southern Pacific car. This from Precision Scale, the ends have more detail. Again you have to remove casting studs then I could attach it to the end of the car.

Afterwords the crew admired their work in the yard after the car end was welded and bolted on. Next they will paint the end then add the diaphragm.

To me it was a fun project.

Thanks,

Robert,

Good going! Cool

Always enjoyable seeing passenger cars getting spruced up.

Cool how details like this make a difference in a passenger car's overall appearance.  After you paint the ends, will you be installing the American Limited diaphrams?

Also, do you plan on lighting the interior?

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

Antonio:

The Balboa cars come with lighting already and it works fairly well. Some other brass did not, so I add Rapido's Eazy Peezy lighting with double sided tape. This is a great system. It costs about $15.00 per car but to me it is worth it, one or two cars at a time. I shall take some pics and see if I can get the right exposure. I love night running.
