It was large once, at least for northern Minnesota during WWII. Now just a delapitated source of memories for the old lady, who visits once a year to remember her lumber jack boy friend who never returned. The ghosts of lost youth are all that remain.
Show me something you built as a youth.
I love that scene, Art. Thanks.
I could argue that model railroading keeps me perpetually young, so everything I build is "from my youth." But, this old Vollmer coal loader was built when I was chronologically young as well:
The chute doors are solenoid operated, and tney still work.
Show me something with an Old Dutch Cleanser logo
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Mr. Beasley, would you like to change your request?

It seems we called this a docksider when I was a boy. Here is mine heading to work the Malachite quarry.
Show me an FSM building
Ok Art, I'll bite. What is an FSM building?
Fine Scale Minitures, George Selios. Franklin and Manchester, the new John Allen. He makes a kit like no one else. 1930's New England Depression era. Is that about right for a discription? Obviously I am among those who like his work. I hoped some of the rest of you have tried one and we can see how you interpreted it.
Yes, very familiar with Fine Scale Minitures, George Selios. Franklin and Manchester. For some reason just didn't make the connect.
Oh guys, Art has requested an FSM building!
Things tend to slow down here when the requests to "show me" get too obscure.
We should keep it more generic.
Rich
Here is a "Better Late Than Never" entry, cuz I was otherwize occupied when the request was posted..
Here is an old car, an "Old Dutch Cleanser" Hopper! Under the A end it says TYCO, & if memory serves, this would have been in my Grandfathers collection & on 4' x 8' layout in 1972 through 1976 -ish.. There is some handling wear on it it, & it was missing a hatch pin. It still has the original TYCO Talgo trucks with hook horn couplers. The unique thing on this car is that it had round porthole hatches on one end (B) & long 'through' hatches on the other end (A).. One classic car.
Glad to respond with a photo...
Now, back to: Show me something with an 'FSM' building! Please...
It doesn't look like we're going to get the FSM building, so Chad you came up with the Old Dutch Cleanser car, would you request some pretty generic please.
Ah, Sure..
How about,
Show Me an Intermodal Scene
Not exactly like this, but it is intermodal!
Early intermodal, TOFC, trailer on flat car. DJ.
Please show me a stone railroad bridge.
Did some say something about Tyco Old Dutch Hoppers!
I may have the worlds largest collection of them!
I have 36 of them, all have been worked and pull like a dream with body mounted couplers, correct weight and PK 2000 wheels. Here they are at K-10 Model Trains layout out being pulled by my PCM Big Boy.
OK, back to a stone bridge.
Ken
I hate Rust
Love those Old Dutch Hoppers. I don't know if this is a stone bridge or a retaining wall holding up a switch back on the side of a cliff. It was my first attempt at stone work with foam and acrylic paints. If it doesn't count maybe someone can give us a pic of the stone arch bridge in Minneapolis. I know there is a great model of that on the O gauge layout in Bandana Square.
If this counts show me an old barn.
Art, evidently it didn't count as a stone bridge...
Someone, anyone... request something!
It worked for me (the Stone Bridge), very nice work BTW!!!
Unfortunately I don't have a completed Barn, was altering a new Walthers one to the one I grew up with. Anyway, lets move on to more exciting & interesting pictures.
Show Me a Service/Maintenance Facility.. Please
Show me a long string of oil tank cars.
Rich, I think it's time for a change. Make another request please.
Show me a pedestrian bridge.
OK, I'm thinking I'm done now, no more silliness form me, (cuz this one is)....
I'm taking a Siesta.....
Lets keep this going in a good way, the 'Lull' lets me get goofy like this shot. So let's prevent that by contributing REAL modeling & resist my hypocrisis... (when an 'abonded tunnel' was requested I almost took a shot of one in my very big parts box!!!!!) Actually, it would have been pretty cool.. NOT!
Show Me Something Maintenance of Way!

Ooh, you've got one of those little bridges, TOO! I put mine over the South Yuba river so those illegal October fishermen wouldn't get their little feet wet, LOL!
