I'm putting a high hood on a Kato SD40-2 to run a Southern road. My question is how do I run the front lights with the extended hood as the original lights were pre-molded in plastic?

Hi Lee! Look mate I'm about to do the same to an Atlas GP40 soon. So I'm also racking my brains to come up with a solution to this annoying problem. The one way I've though of is to run wires back to the circuit board and wire it in manually and discard the molded lights and replace them with bulbs. I model Norfolk Southern, so as you can guess I will have to come up with a solution soon as well! Are you using a Cannon High Hood conversion kit? As these are the ones I'll be using to do my GP40.I've seen a picture of some one who converted an Athearn SD40-2 into a Southern high-nose, in one of the Modelrail Roader Magazines back issues(for the life of me I can't remember which one, sorry!!)
PLease let me know if you come up with a better idea for our mutual problem.

P.S I'm also a fan of the old Southern SD40-2's, I think they were one of the most majestic loco's ever built!
