Truck Trouble
Posted by CPbuff on Monday, May 9, 2011 9:45 AM
I have an old SW1500 Athearn Switcher... The metal axles go into plastic gears but over the years the metal has made the plastic gears slip as the axles sometimes rotate within the plastic. What can I use too stop the axle from slipping within the plastic (and going out of gauge), without having to make a permanent bond as I will want to be able to pull it apart in later years for general maintenance. I was thinking rubber cement? as it can be pulled out of the gear tube and reapplied at a later date again. What do you do?

You can get replacement gears from Athearn's parts department --
