mobilman44 Hi! Similar to my comment to the OP in his rant about the NMRA, I say, "if you don't like Ebay, don't use them", and go on to other business. I've been an active buyer/seller on Ebay since day one with almost 900 transactions (725 total feedbacks). As both a buyer and a seller, I find the inclusion of Paypal to be a boon to both. The security and ease of payment - or getting paid - is a great plus. Yup, as a seller you do get bit by it, but you also get a lot more bids as folks will use credit cards more freely than cash. All that being said, the OP can have whatever opinion he chooses, but why stir up things on this forum? Oh, I have to echo Richotrain........... If others - without books or layout articles in their portfolio - had written a similar rant, I do believe they would have been chastised - severely !!!
Hi!
Similar to my comment to the OP in his rant about the NMRA, I say, "if you don't like Ebay, don't use them", and go on to other business.

While I agree with you about the benefits of Ebay (I too am a buyer and seller), this is a thread that affects model railroaders, both as buyers and sellers.I also prefer Paypal as payment just because everything is handled quicker. I also accept checks and money orders. Since I'm not running a retail business, I don't have the software to run credit cards, but Paypal takes care of that problem.
Whether or not we agree with Howard, he has the right to his opinion/"rants" just as we have the right to answer or ignore the thread. It's our first amendment right. That's the purpose of forums. To air opinions and share information. Maybe even play Devil's Advocate.
I've been ripped on other forum threads because I made an observation about Bachmann 44 tonners and then ripped again for asking for ways to correct the problem with the engine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and unfortunately sometimes opinions go above and beyond.

I just do what the majority of the voices in my head vote on.
Sorry, guys, but this forum is for discussing model trains, not eBay's payment policies nor state tax policies. This thread will be locked.
