 Afternoon fellow dinners.

Flo, club sandwich, side salad and a Beer please.

Dodge Daytona Picked it up at the exhaust shop today, turned the key just went click. Tried again, click, and again, click. Bang Head Got a jump and it fired up, drove to my repair shop and tested the battery. Bob tested the battery and after 2 pull test loads down to 215 amps so the battery is junk. But we are pretty sure the starter is dying as well! Bang Head It should have either went click, click, click or crank real slow if the battery was the only problem. Whistling Lets see $70.00 for a battery and another $150.00 for a starter. This will be the 4th starter in 6 years or so!

Ulrich Train Front I was not going to talk about this in the dinner but with the site moving so slow this is the easiest to contact all that are helping with the project. I got the first round of need supplies from K-10 today. Two containers of turf and 2 tunnel portals. Had to order the clump foliage and it will be in next Thursday. I was all so pricing Kato N scale track and hope to pick up some next Thursday.

Ulrich, what kind of rolling stock are you looking to drag? I was looking at some Ice Bunker car but all where American Rail Roads.

I hope to have shipping cost by Thursday as well now that I am getting a idea of what sizes box I will need.

If anyone else want to help feel free to contact me by Conversation. Ulrich has been a good friend to many of us and could use some good luck for a change. Besides, moving the dinner is hard work! Smile, Wink & Grin

Personal Train Front Grumpy While looking round K-10 well stocked shelf's, I did not single thing I wanted. Guess I just have to much stuff. Kind of sad, I use to look so forward to going to K-10 and had a hard time on deciding what to buy.

Well trains are running great and car started when I left K-10 so life is not that bad.

See you all Friday after work.

Evening All,

Flo could I have the blue plate special please.

Nothing going on here. I actually feel kind  of depressed right now. I have been staring at the photo of the entrance to my yard for about a hour and am not happy with it. I was messing around last night with flex track (overlaying it) and I now think that the 2 leads to the right are not going to work well (to sharp) which means instead of putting down flex track tomorrow I will be ripping up the roadbed and trying to redo those leads. Did I mention that I am not happy.

Ken- I hope you get your car fixed so you can enjoy it on the road.

Howmus-  Congrats on your little people. Can you post a picture of them in the passenger car to see what they look like?

Blownout- Contraption??? Come on.  Just Kidding. It actually reminds me of a really old version of what they use at the Panama Canal today.

I found a  photo of the last Diesel-Electric madeby Lima-Hamilton before the merger with Baldwin Loco Works. It is a PRR LT-2500 transfer loco. This model was  built 1950-1951 and only 22 were made.

Well I hope eveyone has a great evening. When I change the entrance to the yard I will post a picture.

Ken: I'll have a look see what I have around here as well...

Today I did manage to find some more pieces to use to make up the bakery end of the plant...I'm really going to have to do some more hunting here for the other stuff...Huh?

Attaboy

Blownout: I did a search on the PRR contraption you posted a while back.  It's called a Buckwalter Trackmobile.  PRR had a fleet of them to work dockside industries in Phila., Baltimore, and Jersey City.  Originally battery powered and later converted to gasoline engines.  They had rubber tires instead of flanged wheels.  Here's a link:

http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?locomotive=Buckwalter%20trackmobile

Thanks for the link!!

That definitely had me puzzled.WhistlingHmm

Just like this site has me puzzled..it took almost 5 minutes to post again...

Helped my father with the RV again today. We got that twisted bolt out today. We just kept hauling on the wrench bit by bit until we got the nut past the messed up threads. Took the better part of two days to get that thing out. The one on the other side doesn't look to be banged up but we have yet to drop the jack on that side.

Evenin folks!

Just a cup of decaf for me tonight,Flo.  Had a very nice BBQ Chicken dinner that I cooked and ate while waiting for the page to load so i could get into the diner.......  As soon as I get done typing, I'll go do dishes and then come back and see if it posted yet or not.......

I have gotten as much done on the passenger train as I can for the moment.  There will be some details i will add (hand holds, etc) most of which do come with the cars, but I don't have time to get it done by Saturday.  I ran the train for a bit tonight and found it finds every minor little track problem I have and uncouples every time the loco pickups....  It will be pulled by a small Bachmann 4-6-0 that I need to tweek a bit for good pick up.  That and the fact I haven't been running trains much this Winter so the layout needs some major maintenance done.  I found a small kink in the newish track as well.  Lots of little things to do.  I will undoubtedly change out the couplers that came with set with Kadees as soon as I can.  lucky the train doesn't have to be operable Saturday.

Best push send as I have a lot more stuff to do for the Meet on Saturday.  I'll check back in an hour or so to see if this is posted yet. Whistling

Later!

Good Morning,

it´s Friday and I still have hopes that my order of track will arrive this week. I am being told by Petra to have a little more optimistic attitude in life Whistling

Last night was pretty bad. I did not get enough sleep and the forum was dead slow again. After waiting for more than 8 minutes I just gave up on it. I´d say the Night Crawler has come to a complete halt!

Zoe, coffee and a breakfast bagel to go, please.

Good Morning Folks!

Large sweet tea please.

Thanks all for the well wishes on the house, we submitted a fair offer of take it or leave, now for the wait.  On a positive note, if everything goes through, I will be able to start work on the model RR.  On another positive note.... with a slight downside Big Smile  I been planning a 4 x 8 layout for over a year in anticipation, of finally being able to build a layout.  Now, it's back to the planning stage, since I will now have a whole lot more room

The train came by and I got on, that’s when it all began

Good morning. It's 72° and cloudy with a 40% chance of rain this morning. The high will be 86° and it will be cloudy, breezy and humid. There's a 20% chance of rain in the afternoon.

No layout work planned for today as I have an appointment to see the foot doc today. The drunks were out last night. I saw two of them leave my nephew's place.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a waffle please. Yup, real butter and real maple syrup thank you.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Gettin there.

Not much happened yesterday that I know of. I did get a few minutes in the train room. Ground up some more dirt and used some in the tunnel and……did something else but I can’t remember what. Whatever it was it wasn't much.

Today will be much the same I suppose. The last Fish Fry for the Church is tonight. Seems weird to not be involved as I can‘t remember not being there. This is the second year. BUT, I must at least get the startup change from the bank so I will have to get out today before w**k. Oh, and the grocery thing for the restaurant. Other than that, Pretty much nothing to do but play in the train room. Unless of course you count all the things I should be doing around here and at Mom’s house. But for now, I will just ignore them and let them pile up until one day there will be too much to do and I’ll be able to complain about too much stuff needs done in too short a period of time. All, once again, will be normal.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

 Good morning old friends!!

Finally got a job, and its with a Distribution Center for Target.  GREAT pay, and benefits.   I also started going back to church, and that's really making a difference for me also.

June's MRR will have a picture of my work.   So keep a lookout.

I hope everybody is doing good, and I need to quit being a stranger.

Good morning.

Oatmeal and OJ, please.

The layout will sit idle again next several days. I'm headed to Alabama again today. I think things have improved there, but many more problems remain. We'll stop in Nashville for lunch with Shelley's family. Next, I take Shelley to the Nashville airport for her trip to Michigan. Once more, she gets to be with grand kids while I help my elderly Mom in AL.

Here is my creative scene I made in recent days. It is next to the scrap yard, and you can see a corner of the fence in the upper left. It was funn putting this together.

Some of you may recall a conversation in the diner a few months ago about semi-trailer trucks and low clearances. Based on that conversation, I thought of this idea. It took a few months of other layout work before I reached a place for this scene.

Can you read the name and slogan on the trailer? ...or the name on the blue tow truck behind the trestle?

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal w/ brown sugar and a cup of dark roast coffee to start off the day....  What, yes I know it's almost lunch time.  just can't seem to get myself moving this morning.

Have a number of items that have to get done today for the Meet tomorrow.  If I can get myself into gear......

Ulrich, maybe they are using "Titanic Airlines" to move their freight???

Good to see things are running a mite faster this morning in here.  Sure hope they get the problem solved soon.  I keep wondering about the denial of service thing.  It is almost like someone leaves for the day and turns out the lights.......

Have a good one!

Found 'Unstoppable' in the mailbox today.

Doctors report: The wound on my ankle is looking better than he's seen it in a long time. It is evident however that the foot has turned a little more and I'm putting my weight fully on the side of it now. He wants to get some of the big guys at LSU to look at it and see what can be done about straightening it a bit.

Strong Italian Roast coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Garry, neat scene there!

***Jeffrey, so does your nephew live in that box car?Smile, Wink & Grin

***Barry, that is a most interesting train pic. Any info on it?

I pulled one line of track w/ bridge into the volcano and reset it last night with more sheetrock mud & tile grout mix. It is still not super smooth, but at least now it doesn't resemble a Disney ride. Nothing else to report on from the train room.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

It was nice and warm today when I went to the docs office and later to Wal-Mart to get couple twelve packs of diet Dr Pepper. Drove the beast (my niece's name for my van) so no a/c so both front windows down and the vent wings open. I wouldn't mind having something that's better on gas but life is no bed of roses. Just settling down now to watch 'Unstoppable'.

Evening All,

Flo I would like a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoe please.

Not much happening here. Temp got up tp 89 today, 90 tomorrow and 92 on Monday. The humidity is starting up now too. Tell me again why I live in FL?

Drove down to the LHS picked up cork roadbed, NMRA gauge, and some styrene strips for a future project. I also donated 3 sliding patio doors to habitat.

I fixed my yard and lessened the angle of the 2 mains that run along the yard. It is hard to see the change in the pictures but is significant to actually see it. Now there should be a lot less problems entering and leaving the yard.

Before

After

Blownout- What is that thing with the prop?

Robby P- Congrats on the new job.

Jeff- Glad your foot is getting better.

Gary- Neat scene. Guess the driver messed up.

Everyone take care.

***Barry, interesting story. I saw that it had been modeled in Z scale. Can you imagine the damage an HO scale (or larger) model of that prototype could do to the finger of a careless model railroader?Laugh BTW, like that Mother Hubbard pic you posted. I'm still waiting for a nice N scale model of one to be produced.

***Curt, nice to see you making good progress.

Hey guys.

Jeff- Your Niece named your van? Have to say The Beast is not a bad name for it. Takes regular wear and goes better.

Well, talking about cars, I got the front end of my Jeep done. New sway bar end links, new shocks and the lift for the front is done. Next project is replacing the front door, fenders, and front bumper. Then I get to play with the rear end. WHOO HOO. Then there's paint.

And the Jeep also got a name, Black Betty. Kind of fitting because she's got black paint. My white trail Jeep might get named White Lightning. Dunno why but it just seems to fit.

If you can read this... thank a teacher. If you are reading this in english... thank a veteran

When in doubt. grab a hammer.

She sure did. She said that when it starts up it sounds like a giant beast roaring and the name stuck.

 Evening Folks

Flow, I take a grill cheeses with with onion, pickle and mustard.

Today Lets just say it was not one of my better ones. Only closed 3 of 6 deals today. Dead No word on a bounces for last month either. While sales dollars where still pretty good, my profit was down 3% over the month before. But, my commission is up so it will still work out to be about the same.

Was going to BBQ tonight but ran out of propane while burning my grill off.

Daytona front Still torn about what to do about replacing the starter. Starter is around $80.00 and install about $80.00. On the other hand a tow from work would be around $80.00 to $90.00. Guess I will bite the bullet and buy the starter to be safe.

Todd and JR Like your option. Went to pick the car up at the exhaust shop, hit the key, went click, hit the key again and a single click. Jumped the car and turned right over. Tested the battery and on the second load test I was down to 215 amps. But, with only 215 amps she fired right up.

I my mind, when I turned the key and the battery was low it should have either went click, click, click and not a single click. Or it should have cranked real sloooow! Like the site lately. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Robby P Congrats on the new job and hope you like it. I am lucky, I do like my new job (as long as I don't have a lot of days like today) but as of so far no benefits. (unless sitting on my butt and reading train magazines is a benefit)

Have a meeting before work, so I got to get to Zzz
