 Afternoon folks!

Flo, I take a Cam 2 please. (Flo Looking Confused) Cam 2 is car guy code for Beer. Smile, Wink & Grin

Pretty much did nothing today, took the wife for a dilated eye test today and lunch at Pizza Hut. Laid down when I got home on the bed and played with the Wolfhound, then took a nap. Went to check on the Dodge Daytona repair and the parts not in yet.

Got my commission check today and it was $756.68, $100.00 more than I was expecting. But hey, I am worth it! Whistling  Actually, I think it is more they have not explained the commission period to me. Guess it is time to cash the checks laying on my desk, there is now 4 of them totaling $2106.00 after taxes and give Bank of Stupid there blood money.

Will still have some cash left after paying a extra $1000.00 over the house payment, think I will treat my self to a new DCC engine. Just might be time for another Big Boy! Big Smile

Rob I have gotten to he point I make a pretty good Super Tree. One thing I started to do for fuller trees is combine there stalks. Instead of pulling them apart, I tie them together with a strand of wire, then super glue the steams together. Then I paint them a dark color, then add the foam. All so besides shaking the foam on, I get a small hand full and press it in to the tree for a fuller look.

Jeffery If you need more store bought tress let me know.

Hum, a second Big Boy, that idea is starting to grow on me. See what I think of that idea after the Cam 2 wares off.

Well have Chines dinner coming so I will see you all Thursday!

 Just a quick stop.

Worked today, and I'm pretty tired.   The company has been working seven days in a row for awhile now.  Good over-time checks thou!!

Jim........The company does more the "filter" of power plants.   We do get some coal dust from the filters, but the filters are taken away by truck.   BUT.......Norfolk Southern has a main-line beside the company.  I heard four today.

Thanks Ken. If I need more I'll let you know. I'm just about finished with the ballasting of the track and I'll likely be starting on putting down turf, foliage and trees next week.

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Evening, BARRY-sized bacon cheeseburger with a bucket of Coke please 'n thank-you.

Well (not a deep thought), somebody found audio from this morning's train vs. po po car....

http://www.sendspace.com/file/pz4nkq

Above is the CRPD side of things. Below, the UPRR's tale of woe and misery.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/6a44oh

Sounds like a good time was not had by all....

ROBBY P: Congrats on the new job, just be careful. Since probably nobody grows up saying "I want to clean power plant filters when I grow up," you may not be working with the most morally upstanding bunch. Back in my office furniture delivery/install days, I was the only guy on the crew who did NOT have a criminal record. One particularly "pleasant" fellow had a felony rap: drug charges. I think he did some federal time. We were on the road a lot, and this bunch liked to get well and thoroughly hammered every night. The lead told me: "we're just like anybody else in construction. That means, you either drink, do drugs, or both." It was a J*O*B*: Just Obtaining Bucks. Decent pay for the work, but the motels and boozers got old fast.

THAT darn "TrainLife.com" is a dangerous place! I've got about another hundred magazine pages saved to the 'pooter. The Wife is printing them out a few at a time for me. One project has already cost me. I found an article from a January, 1990 Rail Model Journal showing how to take a Life Like boxcar, and turn it into a dead-ringer for a Penn Central boxcar. I must be nuts. I'm going to put $25.00 worth of paint, parts and decals on a $4.00 theBay boxcar...Huh? I even did a bunch of research to figure out a way to have a Penn Central boxcar appear on the Cedar Rapids Industrial Branch. It will be in appliance service from the Maytag plant at Marion, OH. It's destination will be the Smulekoff's warehouse. Smulekoff's is a big, old, historic (for Cedar Rapids) furniture and appliance store in downtown Cedar Rapids. I even mapped-out the car routing: Conrail at Marion, OH to Conrail in Chicago. From there to CNW at Proviso. Proviso to Beverly, Beverly Yard to the North Yard. I'm going to geographically "fudge" the whereabouts of the warehouse to make it CNW rail-served. THAT will also give me an excuse to run a Ridgely and Midland County boxcar with furniture from West Virginia...

The only real downside so far, is the only Penn Central green paint Walthers has in-stock, is Badger's ModelFlex. I'm not impressed with THAT stuff. I was hoping for Floquil or Scalecoat II. No such beast for those two. Poly Scale lists it, but it's out of stock/un-availible. For some reason, I have much, much, much better luck shooting the nasty toxic paints, and a battle shooting the H2O based stuff.

Oh well, everybody's got to have a hobby....right???

Good Evening!

Thanks for all the kind words on Pippa. She was really an amazing little dog and probably one of the cutest westies I've ever seen.  People said she looked like a  little polar bear cub. Did I mention I miss her?

Todd, you were asking if a cheetah smells and the answer is no. They are just like a lot of cats and are very fastidious about their grooming. They groom themselves and each other as will lions.  They only eat fresh kill so no issues with bad breath. Hyena on the other hand are a different story. They eat anything from fresh to rotting and smell accordingly. We came across one right beside the road taking a bath in mud. Had to move on as the smell was so bad. Ugly brutes too.

Barry,  I liked the photo of the '55 Ford. Reminded me a lot of what they looked like in the early '60's in northern Ontario complete with body patch and primer. A good friend of mine's dad had a '55 Fairlane sedan and I was in it a lot especially after Rick got his license. It had a 272 cu.in. V8 as did all the Canadian built '55's. Ford didn't have a 6 here until '57.   Cars certainly did rust fast then. My dad had a '58 Meteor (Ford) and it needed rocker panels when it was only 4 years old. He sold it just before I got my license. I think he was nervous about me behind the wheel of it as it had the 352 cu. in. 300 h.p. T-Bird engine which was big power back then.

Anyway we still haven't completely unpacked from the trip but hey, no rush, we aren't going anywhere soon. I think we are both suffering from post-Africa depression.

Flo, I'll have a cup of coffee and is there a smoking section? :) Music from the movie coffee and cigarettes is inspiring me.

I'm feeling oddly tired from a day of hard work doing nothing. All I did had been to drive from the country to the city and help a friend fix his bicycles.

Tomorrow I babysit :) always excited about that as the 2-year old girl I watch adores me.

I'm not working as much as I'd like, I had originally thought that my handy-man job would net me significantly more than it has. Hopefully the next job I apply for will work out. I have trains to buy of course!

As far as train stuff goes, I just got in the mail a dial-caliper, which I am excited to have one of finally. Don't know how much I'll use it, but I imagine I'll make it work for me. I also got a 6-car set of Spectrum heavy-weight passenger cars in N&W that includes combine, 3-coaches, diner and observation. The latter two I turned around and put on eBay as I only really wanted the coaches and combine. Once I got that set, I grabbed my J, two baggage cars and for the heck of it, most of my vehicle collection plus assembled Tichy water column and posed them on my living room floor. A six car,all heavyweight train, stopped somewhere with a water column and getting loaded by trucks at track-side. On the side of that a two lane road full of auto-traffic. With a lot of imagination, I really liked the look it.

Evenin', FLO? I'll take a cup of coffee as well.

Hey ALVIE, I usually just step out the back door...THAT way I don't annoy any of the good people in here with my lung-filtered product of combustion (heart dart smoke).

Well, got another piece written for THAT Editor...she'll be thrilled. We're on an easy week this time around. Mr. Boss and THAT Editor decided to take the week off for some home improvement project. Since the rest of us busted our tails the past few weeks, THAT thinks she has plenty of content not only for the issue THAT hit the mailboxes and newstands today, but for next week's issues as well. Plus, it's spring break for the hooligans...I mean, the school kids, which really cuts down on the events.

Have a good night folks...

Chris

Good Morning,

Chris, The PC green is the same as NYC Jade Green, right??

Contractor will be at the house this morning to install a new flintastic roof over the master bedroom, new ridge cap, and replace two missing shingles on the main roof.

Happy St. Patrick’s day to all.  Cleveland has a major parade today and getting out of work will be interesting.  My building is in the center of the parade route and makes things interesting to walk through the drunken college kids to get back to the car.  The local bars and restaurants have been stocking up on supplies all week.

Partly sunny, with a high near 71.

Good Morning!!

Did you hear that!!?? 71! Yes! I have GOT to get outside!

Dark roast coffee please and one of them Tex-Mex omelets please. Thank you. What? No dark roast, OK then I’ll have Fren….wait, what’s that? That’s Dark Roast…. right there….. Right there…(sigh)....THERE, in the carafe marked….Dark Roast! Huh? Not ’til Ray gets hisIndifferent. Can’t you make more? Oh never mind. I’ll have some of that boot stuff. That Ray..., gets his own seat, first dibs on syrup, first dibs on coffee, first dibs on…., what’s this? Styrofoam? Only one mug left and it’s Ra…Oh for Pete’s SAKE! (siiiigh) Ok… I get it. Pick on Todd day. (grumble) OW! GREEN! I don’t own any green !! I gave it up when I retired.

Gee, what’s got into Flo today?

News: Got my express boxcar yesterday. Won the bid Sunday night, it was in our PO here Tuesday morning (after the mail was sorted for distribution I guess). Pretty good if you ask me. Second time I’ve dealt with these people. Same thing then too. Of course Hannibal isn’t that far away either, but they ship same day payment received both times. Um, let’s see….almost done with the Bed and Breakfast. Just need a little “landscaping” on the base to finish up, then see about setting it and all. Umm…hm…. Not much got done yesterday I’ll admit. Why? Two words….NCIS. Yup, they played it all day. I hate that show. Can’t seem to stop watching it. Hate Ziva too. Can’t seem to stop watching her eith…. Saaaay, let’s change the subjectWhistling.

Charlie- Never thought about the Cheetah, or any big cat, being as you said. I guess they wouldn’t really smell. Now the Hyena…..I guess that really could smell bad. In fact, they just look like they stink.

Alvie- Yah, I had the same thought when I retired. Not bragging, but the good Lord has blessed me with being able to do quite a few things. I thought, since everyone was always asking for help, I could supplement the retirement income quite well. Wrong. Flingin’ Pizza’s and tending Bar at a local restaurant three nights a week. Oh, well. It worked out well when Mom got bad. I had time to take care of her. All things for a reason I guess.

Well, I think I’ll head down to the basement first off this morning, piddle with the tunnel insides for a bit, then head outside and do something constructive for a change before w**k. Any bets on THAT happening?

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Top o' the mornin' to ye!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

May the luck o' the Irish be with ye all!

After years of growing up being told we weren't Irish no way no how by my mother, My father in doing his family tree search did discover that HE indeed, DOES have Irish ancestors on one side. The other side of him is full half Norwegian {he was first generation to be born in America to Norwegian immigrants on his mother's side}. No wonder I had red hair as a lad {with the freckles to match}, had a red beard as an adult {fastly becoming totally gray}, and had a "feeling" of being Irish. MOH has some Irish too, and then is ful half German on MIL side {SHe is German}. SO this household will be wearin' o' the green today for the emerald Isle! Perhaps the Irish part was covered up to make it "go away" as at one time the Irish immigrants were shunned here in America with signs everywhere that said "Irish need NOT apply", as they were considered drunken laggards. Dunno.

A do nothing day for the rest of the day. Except the dishwasher. Already did shopping at Wally World- like to do it early in the AM when there are few people and I can actually get a handicapped parking spot. Had to go and buy new all-in-one remotes. Mine died. WE each have one to control the TV, and the new ones don't or won't control the DVD player it seems, so we have to make do with it's own remote. Don't know why, but the new one won't control the DVD player. Need to control the TV the most so we got two new ones as on of the older "all for one" {which apparently they don't make anymore} one always seems to die. We now actually have four remotes that will operate the TV..the one that came with it, one old old "all for one" that sits on the eating table to control the tv while we eat, and the one newer "al for one" that still works, and now two new Phillips all inclusive remtotes..though I am puzzled as to why it won't run the DVD player. AH well, we usually used the remote for the DVD player itself anyway. WE like it this way as we each have our own remote to change channels and we don't have to share it or worry about who lost it. and the extra one on the eating table is good for controlling the tv while we eat. The original one with the tv sits under/beside it if we need it.

SO I guess that all for now.

Oh, the neurologist put me on a medication designed to PREVENT migraines, not to take after you already have one. dunno if it will work. HAve to wait and see if I get one. One more med in my bag of tricks. Whoopee!

Have a great Irish day!

I tip better, Todd! Whistling

Last night I loaded the Cad Program into the G5.  Installation went well with no problems.  Did have to search a bit to find where they hid the serial # for the thing....  Then spent a couple hours Trying to figure out how the darned thing works.  I even watched the tutorials THAT came with it.  Whoever, made them has no idea of how to use a microphone (PPPHHH, BAM, Ptttthhhhh..... then all of a sudden so soft you can't hear him at all, then BAM! PPPPHHHH! POP!!! again.  He also went zoom through everything so fast you hadn't a chance to pick up what he was doing.  Watched most of them 4 or 5 times...  Then tried to do some things with the program...  I think it is going to be a long learning curve..........Sad

Have to clean the house today as a presenter for the April Meet is stopping by tomorrow (or Sunday, not sure yet) to load his Powerpoint file into my MacBook to make sure it will run the way he wants.  Also have to make the daily trek to Canandaigua to feed the cats.

Talking 58°F this afternoon here in the Finger Lakes!  Lawn is little by little starting to turn green....  Hmmm.  Think I need to wear one of my green shirts today........

Catch you all later!

Top o' the mornin' to ya!

A little leprechaun told me to wear the jacket green as it´s St. Patrick´s Day today...

Janie, whatever that green stuff is you are serving there, I´ll have a mug of it, please.

I am not really a good sport these days. My life is going into bits and pieces and I need to find some safe ground to rest. I wish I could go on a vision quest like Jeff, to find the answer for those unasked questions.

Might be away for a little while.

I still have a shamrock train logo to work on this weekend for a certain RR diner.. Jeff send me dimensions for some art work to go with that new locomotive and I’ll see what I can print up for you. I have the new non-curling ultra thin waterslide paper now… I’m still only printing black really well right now. I found that SP3 for WIN XP is messing up my ALPS printer driver so I pulled an older computer out of the closet and setting it up with Win2000 just to run the printer.

I still have a shamrock train logo to work on this weekend for a certain RR diner.. Jeff send me dimensions for some art work to go with that new locomotive and I’ll see what I can print up for you.

Are you referring to the old Stewart U25B in my most recent photos? Available space on the side of the long hood is 3/4" H x 2" L.

Afternoon folks!

Flo, I'll have a the freshly made chicken salad sandwich (made from leftover rotisserie chicken) and a Dr. Pepper for lunch.

Ulrich, sorry to hear things aren't going well on your side of the pond... Know that you have a lot of friends here in the diner.  Feel free to share as you wish.  It may help a bit....  Who knows?  Anyway, please know you are in my prayers!

Jeffrey, Nice photo!  What is the brown building up in the top left corner?  The one with the white wall?  Sorry, just picking on you....Laugh)  Keep showing those bilboards!

Later!

Prior warning. Anyone bugging me about not wearing the green is getting scalped!

WHAT???? NO GREEN today???

There ARE exceptions you know. But we kindly Irish allow that ANYONE can "be Irish for a day" If'n they WANT to!  Ain't that just kind of us to share?

BTW will you invite me to your next pow wow so I can "be native American for a day"?????

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Todd,

Dark-roast coffee and tex-mex omelet sounds delicious.

I appreciate that point, it all happens for a reason, even if we're not sure what that reason is. I don't mind not working a lot, though I like working a good job quite a bit. Other opportunities are likely to arise :)
