I know most modeler railroad layout seen here on the WPF, show pine trees for their mountain scenery. However I like the southwest desert, and just have to tell anyone that likes to model the Mojave Desert for the SP, UP and ATSF, there are new Joshua trees being produced by a 14 year old modeler that are second to none.  Here is his website:   http://www.mstrains.com/product/

Here you can see the Joshua trees on my desert model intermixed with my live plants.

Really great to see young modelers having a model railroad business nowadays.

That's a very picturesque scene, Crandell, and the effects really add to the realism.

Really nice scene, Jarrell, and you did a nice job on the trees.

I, too, like your fence, Wolfgang.

Nothing much from me this week, just a simple scene looking across the tracks toward Southern Aggregate Co. and Bubba's Plumbing Supply.  On the other hand, I've never built trees using stretched poly fiber over a plastic tree amature but I experimented with it and kinda like them.  That's it, the large 'oak' just left of center in the background.  I also did a little area using 'Pot Topper' material and it can be seen this side of the track, the larger green grassy area near the bottom of the picture.

I'm satisfied with both and will use the techniques more often.

Looking good, guys.

Benchwork is slowly taking shape. I'm looking forward to a time when I have something good to share here again...my progress for the week is the corner section farthest from the camera.
