I've tried a .jpg and a .gif. Neither seem to work. Help please.
Will
thanks for modifying the title.
Rio Grande. The Action Road - Focus 1977-1983
Will,
Welcome to the forum.
There is/was a problem with the avatar feature of the forum. Kalmbach changed the forum software recently and there were a few bugs to work out. Most of us that have had a problem posting an avatar have contacted customer service and they were able to reset some settings on our accounts and solve the problem. Give customer service a shout and they should be able to square you away.

Thanks for the useful information. I'll contact customer service.
riogrande5761 Why can't I.... Why don't you finish the title and save most of us the time of going into your topic only to find it is of no interest to us? /rant

Sorry to waste a mouse click and 10 seconds of your time....
Will, not meaning to question your competence, but it has happened that some folks have forgotten to click on "save" or "save settings" , whatever it says below all the insertions and changes you make in the avatar section. It is the last thing you should do before leaving that page. And I take it that you have left some time between the update and the time you posted...it does occasionally take a few minutes.
If the photo file is the right kind and location and size, and still no joy, then I'm afraid you'll have to do as suggested and contact customer service. It's a pain...
Crandell
Thanks Crandell,
As you can see, I got it. I placed a .gif at the end of the file name. Then I went to the avatar upload window, selected the file, selected "use uploaded file as avatar" as I have done numerous times before. Then I left and did something else for 5 minutes. When I came back, I had an avatar pic. Evidently the .gif extension and/or the extra time did the trick. Thanks for your response.
Good! And a fine avatar it is!
Thanks! That's my Mantua 0-4-0 Goat Switcher that I'm trying to resurrect. It will look even better when I clean and fix some of the details on it! I have another thread going on this forum regarding the motor refurbish.
Again, I appreciate your help with the avatar.
