Hey Great Work Everyone!!!!
UPTeen, well I don’t have a layout as of yet, I’ve done a couple small shelf type ones for photo’s, & have a few 2’ x 4’ & 2’ x 8’ sheets just asking for something. I hear you on the acquisition for a large project, but I have always gotten what I can, when I can, & I now have a lot to work on. It adds up pretty quick. In addition, the more time an idea ‘cooks’ many times it turns out much better, at least for me. As for WarBonnets, this is as close as I’m working on right now. Thanks for the kind words!
Although I'm not a true SF guy, I have voids in my loco collection, & there were a few new modifications just asking for these units. They are 'just out of the box' -an Atlas GP38 & a Kato SD40-2Mid parked partway into a Pikestuff double Engine bay, still under construction. As for the future of the models, they will both be getting Topeka Cabs & Gong Bell noses. The Topeka Cab will be out sometime early 2011, & I have the gong conversion by Plano & bells from Details West. They should make interesting models, IMHO. It's interesting to see the differences in paint tones on both the new models. As for the Loco Shed, I set the main doors (both front & rear) about 1/16 higher than the kit to clear all my loco's. I found using a SHARP wood chisel, one can use it like a planer & clean the openings in these kits really well. With practice it doesn't dive or hunt, like knives do.
I am working on some details for my upstairs of my Tum-A-Lum Lumber hardware.

Lee I'm liking your layout, and I'm fascinated by the coal being loaded.
Corey that's a very nice scene.

ChadLRyan This is finished shot of the 'accessory' tanks from a Plastruct kit I showed ‘in the white’ last week. They are now painted white with a dusting I made with FQ Dust, Roof Brown, & Marine Brown, although the picture does not show it perfectly. The shot did overexpose the (red) rust dusting I put on the Industrial Gray, I put on the ladder & walkway. I have not added any powders at this point. I think this model makes a nice addition to the engine facility I have in mind (also unfinished). I got the idea of adding tanks from a former post, I thought it was cool, & had to be 'that monkey' & do that as well. I feel a couple large propane tanks coming on soon too. This was done as a quickie, & on the cheap, so to speak! I built the kit mostly as intended, but substituted the factory walkway for a D.A. mesh folded into a wide C channel & CA'd to the railings, then the ladder was added & the conflicting structure cut away. I added Archer porthole decals, & on the big manways, just added CA dots with a toothpic to represent bolts. The base was sprayed with Rust Oleum Texture 'Desert Bisque' paint. However, it severely warped the base & I expected that, as it has on prior projects, as it has a severe shrink rate. I 'mandled' it back into shape. The tanks were sprayed with Krylon flat white, & it had a cloggy nozzle, & I am surprized it looks as nice as it does, as it was spitt'n & spatter'n, & just not shooting at all, at times. The turn out was very lucky. Say, UPTEEN; Thanks for last weeks comment! I got back late & did not thank you.. The other shot is the finished Wiking JD with a fork carrying a couple barrels, Oxy & Gas tanks, & a Jerry can. I wrapped it up with a thin slice of 3M masking tape & a scratch built cinch drive clamp. I used N & HO scale decals on the tanks & barrels. I also added a tall backer to the fork with the same D.A. mesh. I also replaced the font axle with a 0.046 brass rod & bent it to have the unit steered, it has Ackerman steering, meaning it's outside wheel is pitched more than the inside wheel, to allow optimum tracking, although you can't see it in the photo. If you want other pix, please ask, I like shooting pix, & would enjoy the interest. Thanks, Enjoy!!

Chad, no prob, I know what u mean. That is amazing, thats basically a smaller version of what i plan to do but I am thinking of using a walthers diesel house. BTW the Warbonnet project got held up at the station due to a very large potential price tag and i firgured i had bitten off more than i could chew(or convince my dad to buy me However i will do it in the future at some point. For now i got me an Atlas version with sound on ebay for like $130 But pls post more pics of your layout, im dying to see it, maybe you could post a new thread or somtin. Love the caboose too, btw
Corey ... We will not get "sick" of seeing your bridges! ... Looking forward to seeing more of your work, too.
Crandell. .. Feel free yo show the front end of your Santa Fe loco. Also, your Pontiac is at risk of having its bumper slicked by the next locomotive moving on the track where it is parked too close.
Everybody ... Nice work.

Nice pictures this week. I always get ideas and inspiration from this thread.
I'm guessing you guys are getting sick of this area, but it's the only photogenic sight I have so far. The last picture I took didn't have a train! I still have to find a way to block off the sight lines behind the trestle. Then you wouldn't see the layout behind it.
Mike, I'm diggin' the Chessie.

Great stuff again this week guys. I think I am out of my league, again.
Here is one from the BRVRR. It was taken last summer I think, but I don't think it was posted.
NYC Hudson, #5335 leads the Mail and Express eastbound on the BRVRR outer main line. The loco is a BLI. The express car is a Walther's. In the background is the then recently completed General Industries building, a Walther's background building. The other buildings at left are cut-outs from purchased backgrounds mounted on foam board. The deep background at right is a Walther's pre-printed sheet.
Keep up the good work guys. This is always the best thread of the week.
Remember its your railroad

Margaritaman, you have a very nice collection of signals and signs; I particularly like the watch out for the mail bag sign. It reminds me of a story that was in Downeast Magazine many years ago. The MEC picked up a tub of butter from a station, but the station agent had left it too close to the radiator and it went rancid. The guys in the baggage car discovered this and returned the tub to the station agent on the return trip by kicking it out the door as the train passed at 50 MPH.

Will, it is a Hot Wheels. Good eye. Your memory isn't too shabby either.

In Southern California we can work outside in the winter... ;) I'm back to working on the signals. I found this in someone's garden where it sat for the last 15 years, restored it, and now on display in my backyard. A ton o' work, but worth every drop of blood. Video link below.

selector Marvelous, Mike! Sorry for the alliteration, but it fits! Seneca Falls roundhouse had a needy visitor back in 1946, some 50 years or so before she was restored and placed in excursion service. Here is the famous Santa Fe #3751 after some repairs to her running gear courtesy of a standing agreement between the Santa Fe and the Sentinel Coal Rwy's trainmaster. She is being backed out of the stall and will be run out onto the main and on to her home station. Crandell

Crandell, who makes the vehicle in the pic? It looks like an old Hot Wheels car I used to have as a kid.

Back to work on my "diorama".

I fimished another building yesterday. The Shamrock Hotel started as a kitbash from 3 Life Like Belvedere Downtown Hotel kits for the layout I was building 2 layouts ago. I did not finish it before a move, and a smaller layout with no room for the building. It stayed in storage until I started developing Sheepscott on my current layout. The building has an interior, lighting (to be hooked up), and a Miller Engineering animated sign on the roof. I finished the other building, Luxenberg Jewelers, a couple of months ago. I still need to complete the street and other details in the scene.
Took a few shots last night.
Glad I found WPF- I enjoy looking at everyone's work here. In particular I always like the shots of layouts in progress to see how folks are putting things together and regret that I never took those shots on mine.

Great work everyone!
A couple more shots from me, this time with the finished car in a more appropriate setting.

Well, after making large steps forward on my layout and not showing anything, I finally got a overall shot of the layout and a video of the first test train this evening. All trackwork is done, except staging, and it will be a while before I will be able to purchase more track and roadbed.

Sweet interior there, Chad. I hope you post some night pics, peeking in the windows.

Wow, Thanks Chuck!!
Well, just imagine it with a yellow stripe & grabs & we are there.
I am going to silver out the window frames, (potential disaster), & then do a very mild weathering on it, as I would think it would be 'just' an excursion car, hence the rusty wheels & trucks..
These boosies let you do whatever you want! I got this one cuz I didn't think they had the in my hone town, but they did, so I had a surplus... Yippeeee!
The next one will be a Wide/Extended Vision unit, someday!!
Thanks again, & keep them rolling!!!!
2 pics of my new Gp38-2.
Awesome interior, Chad. I like the "John." I send my guys put in the tall weeds.
Can't wait to see the finished model.

Anyone worked on one of these??
Here is a 'Fantasy Scheme' caboose I'm working on. It is a Walthers Milwaukee Oil Burner Rib Sided Caboose Undecorated Kit (Original shown in the first shot). Although I expected it to be like a typical BB kit, I was very surprised with the detail & complexity of this kit. Once seeing it I knew I could do almost anything with it, & ordered a few more for stock!!! Yess!!!! This is an initial picture of a simple mock-up, yes those that know me will know it will be a 'Fantasy IC&E' unit. I have begun detailing it in IC&E colors, & I must say the Canadian Stone Guards (plows) take it over the top! I added a set of lights, one will be a headlight & the other a red EOT (someday I will wire this & they will work, 4 now they will be MV lens') & ported the rear for a Class lantern, & the front has an eyehook ring for the reverse. I disassembled the interior to paint it in a two tone color, brown & sand. I added a little thin strip styrene for a door frame on the John & a divider for the cabinet next to the John. I also added a support leg to the outboard portion of the sink (as I have knocked them over like it was)... Then I added 3 crew members (Preiser), two watching the rails & one reading a book. The other doc's are just clips of colored paper I cut to size & doodled on with a fine pencil. I also added a faucet & two handles to the sink assembly before silver paint. I detailed the rest of the interior with just a bit of MM Brass over the cabinet pulls & on the added in John door knob. Although most of this will be hidden in the finished unit, it may show up when I eventually light it. However, I hope it shows what can be done with one of these kits, I like them! This one came with an extra frame & brake gear I can use for a future project, pretty cool.
One of the most difficult, & the dreaded 'not gonna do it now' things was the "Weeding" or “Pruning” of the railings. It looks almost impossible, & my favorite micro saw could not even get in there.. But using a sharp razor blade I was able to score & bend, score & bend, score & cut, until I had the runners all cut off cleanly. In the end it was not that bad. It went pretty quick & good actually. So don't let it hold you back, it was a bit of a hang-up for me & it should not have been. Just 'weed' or 'prune' those lilbastardz out, easy peazy..I hope this helps to inspire & give you a few tips & ideas, hey it worked for me, why not give it a try??? It is a really nice model!
Great work, all. Seeing it gets the "juices" flowing again. I finally got around to painting my fleet of assorted road named and colored cabooses for the home road. Looking kind of dirty but, they work around the coal tipples and behind trains of soft coal.
I see we are starting 2011's WPF's with a bang. Well done, everyone! And thanks to all of you for taking the time to make it such a great weekly thread.
