I've got 3 FA-2 and FB-2 to repaint in Canadian National Green & Yellow paint scheme. I've been wondering what decals I should use for this job. I've found nothing from CDS which is slowly closing its door...
From the Microscale catalog, I found a set for F-units #87-947. Hard to tell if it is for EMD F-unit, or if it also includes Alco/MLW FA-unit. I asked them but they couldn't answer this one.
Maybe someone here repainted of of those and have something to recommend me.

My concerns is also to match the green on the decal to the green paint. That could be quickly a tricky job do to.

I'm not sure as to the availability of SMP Accu-Cals, but the colours are a dead-on match for their Accu-Paint in CNR colours. The link doesn't show the set which you need, which is 5809. It will do several locos, including CNR F3, F7, FP-9, FA-1, FA-2, FPA-4, PA, and C-Liners, in both the green and yellow and the green, black, and yellow, along with the green and yellow GTW F3.

Matt, it's my experience that SMP makes both paint and decals on what seems to be a very informal timetable - every time CNR green shows up at my LHS, I buy several bottles as more may not be available for some time (I use it on all my passenger cars). I've shifted my modelling era back to the late '30s, so no longer need to find diesel decals, though.
Good to know that... Fortunately, I'm not in a hurry, I still need to find a B-unit before painting. I guess I'll have time to find supplies. The most important thing is that paint and decals colors fits. Anyway, I still have to paint my steamers, 1 done, 1 to do...
Here's a little artistic license since this engine was scrapped in 1953 before it was renumbered... but looks like it survived until September 1957 on my layout!
By the way, I decided to try your weathering process. Keeping the glossy cab and boiler was the right decision. All vintage color pictures of these little engine show them shiny and well maintained.

Its driver centres are falling apart, victims of zinc pest. In addition to new drivers, it'll likely get a can motor and new gearbox.
