QUESTION FOR ANYBODY:
Has anybody who has experienced this issue NOT "deleted their avatar" on the "change avatar" pop-up form?
That seems to be the key item. From what I can tell, everything works fine-- you can change and re-change and change your avatar some more *UNTIL* you do the "Delete Avatar" function. Then, after that, you cannot upload or change to a new Avatar, instead the default "Anonymous.gif" avatar is displayed.
Has anybody had a different experience?

Yes, and you better study!

Mine was different. I didn't delete anything. I just selected one of the default cartoon ones which did not show. My Avatar disappeared and I haven't been able to upload another since.

I never deleted any of the avatars I used. I never saw an option to delete an avatar.

Actually there isn't on the screen i'm seeing. There also isn't a cancel button.
Just Use uploaded avatar and browse buttons.
Maybe that's the problem
Can you post a pic of what your screen looks like?
You don't get the remove button next to the Use Uploaded button? Maybe because the system doesn't think you have an existing avatar.

Here's what mine looks like:
Mine has the 'Remove Avatar' just to the right of the 'Use Uploaded Image'.

There's an option for 'Remove Avatar'.
Here is a screen shot of what I get when I try to change my avatar.
Same at this end of the Big Pond - no delete option.
Guess I'm with the guys with the White Hats. as I've both the Avatar and the Remove Avatar option.
I'm not going to delete my avatar to find out if it comes back or not. That may be whats wrong in MR software after all, you delete and your gone.
Heck I don't know, but it sure is crazy.
EDIT: Just happen to think that each time before I changed Avatars I did not click on "Remove Avatar" as I just clicked on Browse, clicked on My Pictures and clicked on a jpeg pic and "Viola" the MR Avatar was concieved.
Remember I said I did NOT click on "Remove Avatar". That may be the Varmit??
Wadda ya mean I'm old ? Just because I remember gasoline at 9 cents a gallon and those big coal burning steamers.
Let me add some more info to the mystery.
When I had an avatar, there was a tab to remove it. That is the tab I used to delete my avatar. Once I deleted it, the "Remove Avatar" tab was no longer displayed. Maybe because at that point I didn't have an avatar to remove. But after that I also couldn't reload my avatar either.
As for the close "X" in the corner of the window, I have noticed that if you go to Change Avatar straight from the column on the righthand side of the screen, the "X" is not there. If you go to Change Avatar from Public Profile (edit) and then select Change Avatar, the window will display the close "X" in the corner. Not sure why this is but this is what I have observed.
Does anyone know if MR IT Dept. is working on the issue? I sent an email to them a few days ago but haven't heard anything back yet.
Pat
Like I said I didn't remove or delete the existing avatar. I clicked on the tab for select avatar and picked one of the cartoon ones. My original disappeared, no cartoon one showed and I'm faceless.
Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if there is an avatar above my username? It should be an SP herald.
I have "uploaded" it about a dozen times and get the notification that I have a new avatar but I see nothing!
My original issue was not being able to see any of the avatars, which is still an issue as well as not being able to post one.
Thanks.
Nope. Just the faceless blob.
jeffrey-wimberly Nope. Just the faceless blob.
Thanks Jeffrey.
Faceless in Redding a.k.a. Pat
But, as faceless blobs go, you're right up there.
Take a look at my Avatar. You only need to be as handsome and debonair as moi, and you would never be filtered out.
That's Mr. Grinch to you.

Seems, as if we have disabled the avatar function permanently by deleting the avatars we had uploaded. As there is no function to enable it again, the MR IT guys have to fix it.

Ulrich,
From everything that I am reading on this thread, I have concluded that you are exactly right.
Until the MR IT guys tell us differently, a word to the wise. Don't try to change your avatar!

I don't know if you're still curious, but you are a faceless blob no longer.
As suggested in one of the earlier posts, I wrote an email to the customer service people at Kalmbach, asking them to reset my public profile - as you can see, it worked!

Sir Madog,
I just see a faceless blob.
Oh, wait a minute, that's a steam engine and tender.
Congratulations!
Good things come to those who wait.

Very nice job on drawing that avatar yourself. Very creative!
By the way, I see that Vernon/IN was able to restore his avatar as well. Congrats.
However, Hamltnblue and maxman are faceless blobs. Was it always that way, guys?

Should you just be a little curious - this drawing is the basis for the avatar - done in RTS.
I did the same thing and I now have my Avatar back!
