Broadway Limited SW7

Anyone else have problems with their BLI SW7.  Mine seem to go real slow when i apply full power to the track, and it sometimes stalls.  Driving me a little crazy. I checked all the contacts on the wheels and the track is also clean. Any ideas?

Wheels and track clean? DCC or DC? Are the lights going out also? Sound cut out and in?

Yeah, Wheels and track are clean.  I am running it DC, and the lights and sound are cutting in and out.

If there is a way to "unhook" all of the electronics and try it that would tell you instantly whether you have a faulty motor or more faulty electronics. Personally I'd guess faulty electronics, sort of a Murphy's Law thing there.

Thanks for the info.  It is kind of odd that this is the only BLI locomotive that I have ever had any problems with. There stuff is usually spot on. I am going to mess with it after work today.

I have a pair of the latest batch. I am running them in DCC but have no problems at all. They run very well at low speed and faster. I have also run them in a consist with no problems either.

Lights and sound cutting in and out means there is an intermittent contact problem happening. Either the wheels are dirty and full of excess lubrication or even a bad contact in the wiring. This would also slow the loco down.

I have only run the locomotive on DC track.  I did take the unit apart and cleaned LOTS of grease and oil off the contacts.  It is running a little better.

Sent mune back twice for truck problems (first was wheel not on rail, OK for a year, then a grinding noise).  BLI replaced the trucks both times which to me implies a known overall problem with SW7 trucks.
