Pics of N scale Boats on HO Layouts?/BLMA Bridges
Posted by Capt. Grimek on Sunday, October 17, 2010 2:50 PM

I'm mocking up a key scene on my abuilding layout.  I was wondering if anyone here had N Scale tugs and barges in their HO water scenes. My area is about 7" wide under a proposed truss bridge or two. (Squared off/ dock scene rather than natural shoreline.)

I'd like to see if smaller scale boats would look convincing here. I'm so far, envisioning a log boom scene with small tugs. I think that's the most likely way to make the smaller vessels look right. I've only found one source for log boom shifting tugs and they're not all that detailed or convincing but considering them.  Info regarding the best price/dealer would be appreciated as well.

I'd also like to know if anyone is using BLMA bridges and aside from the greater detail of brass what advantages people feel they offer. (Greater strength for supporting locos?) Is the detail the only reason to spend $300+ for a bridge?) I'm considering them as I'd like to get the mainline finished as early as possible and sceniced.  Thanks for your opinions/experiences, in advance.

If you have pics of your own scenes you'd care to share, I'd find them most helpful. Thanks!
