Thanks for the word of encouragment...
I have had the backdrop prepped before I started the benchwork but had never finished it. I was able to Yesterday get the final coat of sky on around 0900 and had what you see above done by around 2300. I stayed up for another hour or so messing with things and taking some pictures.
If you have never painted a backdrop I highly recommend the Kalmbach publication by Danenman. Nice step by step and lots of pictures.

Margaritaman - I love those Douglas firs. Yesterday I watched a couple videos from Paul Scones and he does those type of trees. I got the materials yesterday and hope to start one this afternoon.
While on trees - Jon, that first tree is a beauty!
I am still working on Spoon Yard. Getting the wood grade crossings in and the dirt road colored in. I am not quite satisfied with the color . . . almost. The coloring is from a trick Joe Fugate uses to weather track. I use a bit of plaster of paris and mix in dust free powder paints. When made wet, the color comes out and the plaster fixes it in.

Now, before anyone gets really excited, this video was filmed with a $40 security camera from Menards. Quality is not good. What it does show how to build in switching time on a small layout to make it seem much larger. On YouTube, the video runs over nine minutes to move a cut of cars from one end of the town of the other.You will also note a great lack of detail in the scenes. Late entry from me! I started laying down track for my apartment layout. Just need to get a few pieces worked in and then I'll start practice runs. Sorry, the photo is a little fuzzy.
I went down in the dungeon today and was going to take some progress pics when I noticed that the 3/4" foam I had glued down a couple weeks ago had lifted. So I check it out to see why it did so....I guees it helps if you remember to peel the plastic facing off the stuff before you glue it down... no pics this week since I had to tear that section up.

Hehehehe, I did that too! I didn't even realize it had the plastic coating on there, until I got to the second sheet, and thought what the heck, and peeled it off.
