I was just visiting the BLMA website, and could find no listing for the Vert-a-Pac automobile carriers in either HO or N scale.
Are they being discontinued? It would seem to be a shame if they are, as BLMA was the first (far as I know) to make these, at least in plastic, and they haven't been on the market very long.
Anybody know what's going on here?
I believe it was ExactRail who made them in plastic - I just picked up a Milwaukee Vertipac made by ExactRail and its pretty nice. Yes, ER is sold out of them. Check the big auction site and you will see them for sale there.

Hi... I just went to the Exactrail Website and they are listed as being in stock...not sure where you were looking but they're listed under auto carriers.
Go to the home page and click onthe tool bar at the top that says 'Products' on the left column, you'll see a list of products -click on the link that says Automobile Carriers.
This has been a good selling car for them - I don't think they will drop it anytime soon.

kind of ironic that the rail cars used to transport Vegas turned out to be more popular that the commodity they hauled. if i remember correctly, the little clunkers were riding in enclosed cars while most other autos and light trucks were out in the open on bi-level and tri-level auto racks.

GM shipped Vegas enclosed in cars that protected them from the elements because they didn't want them to start rusting away until they got to the showroom.

Just be glad you don't have to press "2" for English.

Yes, it was a few other of the early freight cars that are sold out completely. There are still Vert-a-pac cars for FEC, Seaboard and IC left in stock. The other 3 or sold out.
I'd like to see ER offer some new road names but I'm not sure what is prototypical for this model. I'd love to have some of the other road names that hauled the Vega's across the Rocky Mountains.
ER is sold out of some other models I couldn't afford when the were first offered including the 60' auto box cars and the 60' PC&F beer box cars. They have rerun the Southern waffle very quickly but the beer and auto box cars still show no signs of a re-run.
