Champ Decals
Posted by HaroldA on Sunday, September 12, 2010 12:29 PM

I know this might be a rehash of old news, but I just received an order from Champ Decals and on the invoice was this note:

"Champ will be closing it's doors the end of September 2010.  Check the web site www.championdecal.com for a list of items and click on link for pictures.  My hope is that someone will continue on, if not, I thank you for these 47 years since Rich purchased it from Max Gray.  I have been here for 27 of those years and feel it is time to retire.  Connie"

They have been around for as long as I can remember and now they are joining the ranks of IHC, Fleischmann, Varney, Standard Hobby Supply, many local hobby shops and other familiar names that helped build the hobby.  Best wishes to Connie for a long and happy retirement and thanks for all Rich and you have done!

There's never time to do it right, but always time to do it over.....

Indeed..I have used Champ decals for over 50 years-I started when I was around 12 and the first boxcar was a Athearn 40' boxcar painted and lettered for Wabash..I was real proud of that accomplishment..I painted several more Athearn undecorated boxcars over the years including a green C&IM 40' boxcar with the red stripe.
