Thanks to everyone for all the excellent advice and help for removing the turnouts from my old layout and for our upcoming move to Montana.

I have managed to salvage all the turnouts and am already in the original planning stages for a new layout.  Unfortunately, it will take a number of months before I can lay the first piece of track but in the meantime I'll be working on scratch building some rolling stock and structures.  So, I'll be busy in this wonderful hobby, just not running any trains for a while.

Wow, glad to hear you were able to salvage all your turnouts. Good luck with the move, and let us know what the progress is on the new layout.
