Two modular railroad clubs in the area were given a great opportunity from a local real estate management firm, Wheeler Real Estate. A Blockbuster Video store had closed in one of their shopping centers and they wanted to have something there other than another vacant storefront. One of their managers, Susan Pleasants, did a web search for local model RR clubs and from our webpage contacted the Tidewater Modular Railroad Club. She asked if we would like to have a place to set up our modular layout in exchange for having a few open houses each week. You know the answer to that!
TMRC and a branch-line HO module group, the Great Lakes and South Eastern, have a layout set up for now at the Fairfield Shopping Center in Virginia Beach. Wheeler still has the space available for lease, but we will get thirty days notice if that happens. They have suggested they could offer us another vacant space if that happens. We have scheduled open houses each Wednesday from 10-2, and each Saturday from 10-4. We usually have a few folks running trains or working on their modules most other afternoons and evenings, and we leave the doors open for visitors then, too.
There are some photos posted on TMRC's web site, http://members.cox.net/tmrc/ . If you are in the area feel free to come and visit. We have our regular meeting and work sessions Tuesday nights starting at 6:30 PM.
If everybody is thinking alike, then nobody is really thinking.
