Y'know what we need here?

I was looking at the "How Many Trains" thread this morning.  It was a brief discussion, starting with a picture of a mega-container ship, about how many containers it held, and how many trains it would take to off-load that ship.  Then, poof, the thread was gone.

This puzzled me for a few minutes, since it wasn't about either politics or religion, and contained no advertising, but then I looked over in the Prototype Information forum, and there it was, along with a couple of other threads I remembered from recent days.

When a thread gets moved like this, could we get a post to tell us where it is, and maybe provide a direct link?  I don't hit Prototype Info very often, although I probably should since there's good stuff there, so sometimes these threads just seem to vanish.

Your right. I know a few forums I belong to have that, unless it was an old thread and was deleted. They usually say, "this thread has been moved to (fill in the blank) with a link. Or for the deleted ones, 'This thread has been deleted.' The one I pay the most attention too even has the username of the moderator who moved it. Of course that's proboards, the software Kalmback uses must be different.

I think this is a very good ( and reasonable ) suggestion Mr, B!

On other forums I frequent, when a thread gets moved, there is a header (or whatever it is called) that has the title of the thread and in parenthesis "Moved".  When you click on it (as you would any thread) it takes you right to the thread in its new home!

If we can put a man on the moon, surely we have the technology to do this!

  I am with you on that Mister Beasley. I posted a silly Decoder question in the general section because it was silly. Next thing I find it in the DCC section. Guess I should have posted there to began with.

Threads are generally moved because they are more appropriate to a particular forum and/or they will get a better and more thorough response there.  This is at the discretion of the moderators.  At present, the only notification given that a thread has been relocated is to the OP.  This is done automatically when the thread is moved.

If you're looking for a particular thread that you've responded to but can't find it, check the My Discussions list on the General Forums web page.  It's located about a 1/3 of the way down, on the right side of the page.
