combining two lights onto one main wire
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 8:26 PM
Hello, i prob sound like a real idiot for doing this but i saw an article in julys model railraoder and it showed how some guy ran all his track wiring through two main wires, so i tried doing this with two lights, but it didnt seem to work, and it went on overload, which kicked the switch on my transformer, should i just run two more wires, or is there a way i can do this?

Tell us more about the situation--I assume the "two lights" are lighting kits for structures or other scenery on the layout? Did you hook them up to the accessory terminals or the main power--or the AC power??

One other question--did you wire the lights in series (one after the other) or in parallel (next to each other)?

Tim, if I maybe so bold

Go out and get yourself a book on MR wiring! This will save you countless hours of grief and a possible risk of fire! I'm not joking when I was your age I learned the hard way. The good thing is I still got all fingers and toes. Believe it or not electricity is a simple thing and doesn't take much reading........ Honest!
