Did the Milwaukee Road ever really have this paint scheme?

I have a few of these Athearn F-units from the 1960s.

I've looked online for pictures of Milwaukee Fs, but I never see these.  Somewhere, I read that these were "freight colors" while the more familiar shades were used for passenger service.

Were these used, either for passenger or freight service on the Milwaukee?  Or did Athearn make up the colors?  Thanks.

They surely did -

I'm not a Milwaukee expert but I suspect this was a factory scheme from EMD that never lasted past the first major shop visit.

These pictures are all very early 50's.

Did Athearn capture it completely correctly? Hard to say, there may have been variations.

EDIT: And, Athearn has done them recently -

This was the delivery scheme for early freight F units.  The 'grey' is a little light, but the basics are correct.
