WHEW!

I tried for a couple hours this AM to get online here and only the header would load! That's as bad as an error message!

Not that I have much to say here.

Thunderboomers like many have said  have moved through leaving high moisture in the air,and a migraine in my head as the weatehr changed. It is also hot, of course, like everywhere else in the country.

Have to head to the bank to deposit other half's check for vacation week. This week many hours which will help pay the vacation bills. I wil ahve to go to bank again thursday so I can deposit my disability check. Yippee! then I can pay all the vacation bills. Hate having them hanging over our heads.

WIll make two three-week payments on the Kia Sedona van this next month which will mean I will be paying Nov's payment at the end of August! Right on target with the pay-the-payment-every-three-weeks-to-pay-it-off-early-instead-of every-four-weeks-or-once-a-month-scheme of things. Not bad by march 2011-one year after I took out the loan- I will be paying Sept.2011 payment- a year and a half in a year! MAkes the 5 yr loan paid off in a about 3 yrs. Like that idea.If we can keep it up.It's also great for the Credit Rating!

Well, I must run to the bank now, so talk to you all later....

Have agreat afternoon!  Big Smile

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, one of those breakfast bagel thingies THAT Barry is munching on looks good to me this morning.  Oh, yes, I will need a cup of THAT dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR Mug as well.  I'll join Barry in the front booth for a while.

The Finger Lakes Region has the same gray look that Barry was describing earlier.  Currently 76°F under cloudy skies with a predicted high of 80°F later this afternoon.  May have a thunderboomer or two as well.  Barry, trees being hit by lightning are better than houses hit by lightning at least!

Robby P.
The MIL should be leaving in a hour or so, but...............We had a thunderstorm last night, and she left the sun-roof open.  Now she's letting the inside dry out.

Robby, some people will do most anything to be able to hang around a few hours longer......Whistling  We had a couple of VW Bugs with sunroofs and on occasion had the same bit of soggy fun.

Todd, they almost had to call the museum police.  The looney didn't want to go back to the caboose after he got to sit for a bit in the engineer's seat.... (different photo).  "It's time to play, 'Spot the Looney!'"  Oh, yeah, that is 1654. Wink  We also have a 45 tonner # 1950 and I get confused....  It may be What's his Names Disease?ConfusedWhistling

Ulrich and Jeffrey, hope you both get feeling better.  Dizzy is not fun!

I'll be tending to some odds and ends and may get to sling some mud at the layout today.  Have an evening meeting with folks from Troop 1 about the Eagle ceremony on Friday night.

Hope you all have a great day!

GOOOOOOOOD MORNING from BEAUTIFUL SOUTH KACKALACKY (South Carolina)

Well, it was overcast this morning but the sun burned that off, now there ain't a cloud to be found. I'm hanging out with my sister and her friends today, they're a grade below me but pretty cool, except for some of them that love to stir up drama.

 Good morning.

Its a rainy/cloudy day today, so that means a day in the basement.  The MIL should be leaving in a hour or so, but...............We had a thunderstorm last night, and she left the sun-roof open.  Now she's letting the inside dry out.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Mornin. Supposed to get about 94 today. Or is that 90 today 94 tomorrow.....Anyway....,

Well first bookwork for Church, then to town for a light fixture and some ceiling paint, and a cord for the power cord for the meat slicer at the restaurant. Then work.

I doubt if I'll have time for the layout today.

Have a Great Day!!!

Good morning. It's 75 with heavy cloud with rain and thunder. The high will be 90 and there's a 50% chance of rain.

We have heavy thunderstorms moving through the area at this time. It's a lull here at the moment but I can hear another storm coming in. My balance is off a bit today so I will be taking it easy. That's nothing unusual. I've had balance issues all my life so you'd think I would be used to it by now. Looks like it's a good day to stay in anyway. Whoops, the lights are starting to flicker a bit, so I'll get off here for now.

Tall glass of cool lemon water, please.

Our Internet went down last Tuesday, same day as cryosurgery on my foot. My buddy with UPS said someone cut through a fiber optic cable and everyone in my area was without service. Nice to be back in cyber-space, even if the speed keeps jumping back & forth from fast to crawl.

Have made some decent progress on the wife's (HO) layout the past few days. A few locations are actually populated with wee little folk and tiny critters now. Cool

Hope everyone is doing well these days.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Evening. Dr Pepper seems to be popular today so I‘ll have one also. Did anyone see the crazy guy hanging off that 80 tonner whoopin and a hollerin'?? What was the number on that thing 1650 or 1654?

I‘ve looked at more counter top and flooring samples than any man who doesn‘t work for HGTV should have to. Now, I‘m told the ceiling and the light in the kitchen needs to be repainted and replaced respectively before the final decision can be made. The next two days are kinda booked for me and I don' t know when I can get started on Mom's house if the truck I need to look at on Tuesday turns sour.

Jeff- I don't know what to say. Just glad you're OK.

Garry- Didn't see anything just got home so haven‘t peeked through the windows. Say, you wouldn't happen to have seen what happened to that Strawberry pie that was in the cooler did you?

Vincent- You may be right the SD70M (a Genesis) went for $108 compared to the AC at 76 the SD60 for 51 both regular Athearns. The SD40-2 (KATO) isn't due until 2 ½ days from now so far it's at $32. That's what I cruise the Bay for when I do. Bargains like that (youre two protos). I'm not gonna have the old empire up and running so soon I need to rush right out and buy everthing now. It's tough to beat others to the deals, but I have a limit of what I will go and if I miss it, well sooner or later another will come around.

There is also a Bachmann UP 4-8-4 for sale. Doesn't say it's a Spectrum and haven't researched it to see but it's at $15 now for about 18 hours. I may bid. Could be another steam train for my tourist runs, but I don't know if I want to chance the loco. It hasn't been test run either.

Ray- I agree with your ideas on Hydrocal, but boy, the ready mix drywall mud sure is handy and easy to work with. I would say if pouring into molds or dipping strips of something are not involved, I'd go with the drywall mud.

Ulrich- Glad you can get in to the docs.

Prayers for those in need

 Good Morning,

it is a little after 6 am here in Germany. I am up for an hour and I feel pretty lousy. Like Jeff, I feel dizzy. It has been that way since yesterday morning, and I will go to see my doc about in in a few hours.

Zoe, just a tall glass of mineral water, please. I guess the doc will run some blood tests.

Jeff - please take care, will ya?

I´ll be back later!

ZzzZzz   Huh? What???  Oh!  Must have fallen asleep.  Here I was all alone most of the afternoon except of course for Duke in the back (he can sleep through almost anything), and I must have dozed off.

Well, Flo I'll have my evening decaf (don't want to be awake all night) and just sit here in the front booth.

Been one of those days where I didn't do a whole lot. Finished up a few odds and ends and just kind of took it easy.  Did get a chance to do some more on the quarry itself.  It will be major big time compressed to fit in the space available.  Any ideas how to do the plaster for the quarry walls?  I was thinking pouring POP, but THAT will involve making some forms to hold the plaster while it sets.  I'm now thinking just building it up with ready mix sheetrock seam mud....  Need to make a decision soon.  The seams in the rocks will be carved by hand no matter which route I go.  I have the Drywall mud, light hydrocal, and Plaster of Paris in stock, so I could use any of them.

Some time this week I plan to stop over to a limestone sales place in Seneca Falls and see if I can get some small chips of limestone from around here to match for color and texture (and maybe even use some pieces).

Hope you all have had a great day!

Later!

Hey guys

Did more work on the car. I'm gonna let the bondo dry overnight before trying to sand it. hopefully it won't gum up my sandpaper like it does a few hours after it's applied.

Todd, that SD40-2 will probably go for more than any of the others. possibly more than the regular SD60 and AC4000 combined. I've seen several BN ones (runs between the 1st and the last) go for upwards of $120. Good deals can be found, it just takes looking and some detective work. Did you hear about the one time I picked up 6 P2K locos for $75?

Jeff, careful there.

Jim, I don't have to take any more english, even if I decide to go for my Bachelour's (going for assoicates). They are sneaking writing into every class now, except for math.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jeff .. Hope you're doing OK this evening after that fall.

Aside from bit of a headache I'm fine. I had a little dizziness this morning but I'm fairly certain that was due to my blood sugar being below 80.

Great photo Ray! I see it shows your better side! {the train side that is}.

Well accomplished 4 loads of laundry, gassing up the van at the gas sale, and one load of dishwasher...I might actually get the 5th load of laundry doen too, but my back is starting to curse at me. I

I see the neurosurgeon about my back next tuesday, TG ...wonder what he will propose?

After being away for the few days we came home to discover that being closed up with a/c constantly on so far this summer, we have developed a "musty moldy"smell. so I have a few windows open for fresh air today and the a/c will have to be off for awhile. Angry  Sigh  Sad. We have been running the dehumidifier for awhile as well, drew a lot of water out of the air, but not enough to immediately change teh musty smell. Happens when a place is all closed up, a/c or not. we also have ground under us, with no vapor barrier,so that doesnt help. I will sweat a bit, but no more than being outside in the heat for a few days. and I can alsways close back up and turn back on a/c.

well, i'm getting my chores slowly done so yippeee!

Talk back to you all later!

Zoe, hope it's not too late to get breakfast.  What?  All Day? Good.  I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes and some NYS Maple Syrup to go along with my Dark roast coffee.

A couple thunderstorms rumbled through in the middle of the night, but I slept through most of them.  Sometimes being deaf has its advantages....Whistling

Jeffrey!  Stop THAT!  Be careful now!

Zoe, is something wrong with Barry?  He appears to have 2 IVs going.....  Oh, his coffee, I see.Confused  I prefer to drink mine.....

Well, I see it's now afternoon, so I'll finish my coffee and be on my way for a while.

Jeffrey, Man, take it easy on yourself and watch very carefully for "fallen objects" so you don't take another "unscheduled trip" and have to claim "I've fallen and can't get up"!

Rest easy, dude!

Good morning. It's 74 and cloudy. There is a chance of rain ranging from 20% this morning to 60% this afternoon. The high will be around 92.

I had an interesting time last night. Just after shutting my computer down I headed back toward the bedroom. On the way I stepped on an empty pill bottle and took an unscheduled trip that left me on the floor with my back against the bathroom door staring at the closet door (and a very shocked looking spider) wondering what the heck just happened. When I attempted to get up I found that I had twisted my back and jarred a compressed disk in my neck that pinched the sciatic nerve and it was now screaming great insults at me that I found nearly impossible to ignore. I had a sensation of my backside being on fire all the way down to my knees and I could move only with great effort with a massive number of stars exploding before my eyes. After about 10 minutes (felt more like a half hour) I was able to roll over and assume a push-up position and was able to push myself up to a kneeling position. I stayed that way for a few minutes until the pain subsided some then carefully popped the slipped disk in my neck back to where it belonged. It's not the first time I've had trouble with it. That took the pressure off the nerve and relieved the pain for the most part. I could now see without a jumble of super novas obscuring my vision. A couple of pain pills taken with my nightly meds relieved most of what was left and I was eventually able to get to sleep in the wee hours. My neck still aches a little this morning and I seem none the worse for it. The empty pill bottle got slam dunked in the trash can. I can only guess that it must have fallen out of the bag of empty med bottles that I took out in the trash yesterday. Nothing in particular on the schedule today except to take it easy and rest. I had intended to move some structures and such around on the layout but I think I'll wait until this afternoon to do that.

Morning. Gonna make this quick, severe storms a moving in. Warning is until 9:45 so should be over soon.

Today I will go to visit Mom and discuss the proposed updates to the kitchen and some color samples. I think with the flooring and the repositioning of a few cabinets and new counter tops there will be a world of difference. Then, well, I haven't discussed it with Brenda so I don't know what.... I MEAN, I haven't TOLD Brenda what we are doing. (ahem) Let's get that straight.

Gettin darker and thunder

Best get a shuttin down. Probably head to the basement and do some train room cleaning/straightening up this morn.

Bidding got too high for me on the Genesis so I bid on a regular Athearn SD-60 and it stayed for a while actually about 20 minutes, then, too high. One more shot at a Athearn AC4400 today. Then there is a KATO SD40-2 that ends in 3 days I think if the AC4400 falls through. Probably will as I don't bid near as much as others do. The auction sites are for hard to get or out of production and bargains to me. Not as much, or near as much, as the LHS palces to buy. Like a big garage sale. Shirts for a quarter! Jeans for 50 cents.

I need to start getting back to Church before this not going becomes a habit. OOOO!! Big loooong thunder. Best make haste.

Just checked the radar, looks like the bad stuff just broke up and went away just before it got to us. Like a super storm force field thing. Think I'll shut down anyway. Just to be safe as it's still thundering and the wind is picking up a bit.

Have a Great Day!!!

A nice sausage and a bag of salt potatoes and consider dinner done....And a frosty cold one!!!...Good day all...

Morning all.

Got a lot to try to accomplish today.

Have about 5 loads of laundry, two dishwashers loads to run and some vaccuuming to do, at minimum. all from vacation leftovers. Depends how well/long my back holds out as to what I get done. Must at least accomplish 2 loads laundry, one load of dishes. Oh, and empty garbage it does go out tomorrow night, but kinda piled up for two weeks, so it can go out to the doorside now without stinking too much in the heat.

Durn, gotta go gas up the van too, it's Sunday Funday Gas Sale day at teh Kwik Fill!!! cheaper gas, I'm all for it. need about a quarter of a tank. Almost forgot.

Well I shall set about my tasks Whistling with a song in my heart Whistling and a dance in my steps...Cool

{yeah right...}

Have a great day guys!!!

Welp Good Morning people!!

Chloe, I'll just have the IV bag of rawcaffeine please---I'll be at the corner booth with Ulrich here.

Off to w**k with me today--need to check in on a couple of projects that got started while I was off on medical leave and find out how they are doing with that.

Then it'll be meet Audrey at the Home County Folk Festival and see what goes there--maybe catch a little of the Blues Fest while downtown as well. Lots of stuff going on downtown this weekend---then next weekend there'll be "Hawk Rocks The Park"---------Good thing we can go someplace quiet after that..Whistling

Yep---she came with 2 bags for me too---thats good. I could use thatWhistling

Any argument carried far enough will end up in Semantics--Hartz's law of rhetoric Emerald. Leemer and Southern The route of the Sceptre Express Barry
