wow, just wow. I have no idea what that is all about...

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Me neither, though I can tell you that both the F40PH and the SD45 looks good in Daylight.

Heh, funny stuff.  I remember seeing some of that before, but I didn't know that it had advanced as far as it apparently has.

For those who are saying, "Huh?", this seems to come from the chan.org websites (4chan being the most famous of these).  These are picture posting forums, sort of like this forum where you have threads that have individual posts in them.  But while Trains.com is a semi-serious text-based web forum, the chan's are based on sharing pictures and being silly, controversial, funny, strange, etc.  And, 4chan is incredibly busy and has limited storage of threads (when a thread drops off the first 10 or so pages, it's gone forever).  While we might get a new page of threads per day, they get a new page of threads about every 5 minutes.  It's crazy fast over there.  Look up 4chan on wiki, and you'll see what I mean.

In regards to the F40PH, I think the idea is that it's the anti-cute & cuddly "furry" cartoons & drawings that are apparently posted on Fridays ("Furry Fridays", I guess).  These F40PH posters would post pictures of trains to drive the Furry pictures off the mainpage, calling it "F40PHriday" (according to the web link).  Why?  I dunno.  Maybe they don't like cute & cuddly...

I think it's hilarious, and goodness knows we have given these guys a lot of pictures and vids of these locos over the years to play with.

I must be behind the times... I don't understand the actual intent of the video OR the website.  And what is a MEME?

All I know is SOMEONE likes F40s...

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_meme (pronounced meem, rhymes with "cream")

"At its most basic, an Internet meme is simply the propagation of a digital file or hyperlink from one person to others using methods available through the Internet (for example, email, blogs, social networking sites, instant messaging, etc). The content often consists of a saying or joke, a rumor, an altered or original image, a complete website, a video clip or animation, or an offbeat news story, among many other possibilities.

"In simple terms, an Internet meme is an inside joke, that a large number of Internet users are in on. (emphasis mine)

"An Internet meme may stay the same or may evolve over time, by chance or through commentary, imitations, and parody versions, or even by collecting news accounts about itself. Internet memes have a tendency to evolve and spread extremely quickly, sometimes going in and out of popularity in just days. They are spread organically, voluntarily, and peer to peer, rather than by compulsion, predetermined path, or completely automated means. The term "Meme" was coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 pop-science bestseller, The Selfish Gene."

Since it's an inside joke for another web forum, I wouldn't expect too many people here to "get" it.  Likewise, I wouldn't expect many people on that forum that would know about DCC, Kadees, MTH, etc.  I wouldn't worry about it...just enjoy the humor that the "Awesome F40PH" brings to the masses.  Big Smile

The F40PH video isn't really a meme. The granddaddy of all memes (and still one of the best) is All Your Base Are Belong To Us. And if you remember Zero Wing, I'm sorry. Smile,Wink, & Grin

"F40PH: When you see it, you'll Poop Brix"

Then Captain Disillusion will prove the VIA rail F40PHs are mere digital camera artifacts.

Finally, we'll have Hilter in the Bunker ranting on about the replacement of the F40PH by GE Genesis locomotives: "Everyone who likes the Acelas leave the room"

This is something my friend did a few days ago.  He combined the F40PH with the "WRYYY!" meme, and got this.

Gee didn't know I was in the company of Greatness when I took these, I was just interested in the turnouts and targets

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?
