Good day,
I have built an elongated timesaver and as such need cars that are roughly 50' in length to make it work.
I've been hunting around Walthers and cannot seen to find any dimensions on either their or Atlas' tank cars.
I model 1986, so I can't go too new of course, and I'd like to stick with generic black GATX/ACFX/UTLX marked cars if possible.
Could one of you good folk get a scale length of your tank car fleet members and advise me on my next purchase? I'm thinking the 20700 gallon size.
Thanks in advance,
Glenn
Nobody has a scale ruler out there?
Tankcars around 20,000 gallons are around 50 feet long. Tankcars in the 23,000 to 25,000 gallon range will be about 54 to 56 feet long.
In addition to Walthers and Atlas, Athearn makes tankcars in this size range. The Atlas 25,500 Trinity car might be too new, but all of the other tankcars in the gallon range above should be correct for 1986.

Thanks very much.
