? How do I remove the Proto 1000 RS-2 cover

The cover seems to be on there pretty tight and I'm worried about breaking it off.  Any tips where to try?  I want to put DCC in it.

Do you mean the body shell?

Which version do you have? The Life-Like or the Walthers? The Life-Like version has an open frame motor and the Walthers version has a flat can motor.  The circuitry is also different in each type of loco.

I have two of the Walthers RS-2s and I had no problem getting the shells off.  They have a 9 pin plug and will accept a standard HO scale plug 'n' play decoder (Digitrax, TCS, etc.)

The Walthers model.  And yes, I mean the body shell.

How do you get your cover off?  Do you pry a flathead screwdriver between the tank and shell and skim down the sides looking for the clips?

Any idea if it uses the standard Atlas Diesel shape board?  Or the Athearn DCC board?  I want to place a Tsunami Diesel in there and was hoping for a straight swap out of the current board.  Then I wanted to place a speaker in the tank.

Most of the Life-Like and Walthers Proto series locomotives have shells that are held in place by the coupler boxes and two screws underneath the frame.  Remove the coupler boxes first, then look underneath the loco and see if there are screws on either side.  If there are, then take them out and the shell should come off easily.

I've never installed a sound decoder in a loco, so I'm not sure which of the Tsumanis would fit.
